About chubbz

  1. Yaaaay That's cos we were on the Colin Mcrae Subaru Weekender doing a tour of North Wales!!!
  2. Seems its the year for fulfilling dreams lol I got my first a couple months ago and now my new one. So welcome and enjoy
  3. Well, after a couple of months with the classic and spending left right and centre I decided to bite the bullet, spend some proper money and get something decent. So here she is. Collected her on 1st of June. Haven't stopped smiling since!
  4. Yup I guess frustration at the moment is taking a real bite out of the enjoyment. Its one of those things, grew up on the stages, dad had an RB5 and an STi always wanted my own and rushed out when if I had been a little more patient and saved a little longer.... oh well its done. Just got to sort it out now...
  5. Hey guys, Is there any way I can find out about my car? ******* There was no paperwork other than the logbook for it and a private receipt. According to the logbook it entered the country in 2003 but until I got it there was no tax on it since 2007. Its getting to the stage where I am considering selling / scrapping / burning the car in a satanic ritual as almost on a weekly basis more problems are becoming apparent. There are turbo flat spots which almost stop the car dead, and recently it lost power on the motorway causing me to slide over to the bottom lane and wonder if I was going to make it home, then picked up and drove fine. The track rod ends have gone to such an extent that it feels alien driving it anywhere and I have found some off a breaking vehicle at Scoobyclinic which are going on tomorrow. It is an absolute bitch to get started on a cold morning, and a can of powerstart is almost always required if it is standing longer than about 6 hours. We suspect the engine has had diesel in it at some point. It has had new brakes, and was being run with no rear foglight which, to get through the MOT had to be sorted so I had an auto electrician rewire one of the reverse lights and switch to a coloured bulb. It was balanced and tracked, but obviously no-one spotted the track rod ends. The speedo does not work, and further examination has shown that the lower cable has gone, taking with it the KPH-MPH convertor block. Which may also explain why the "CHECK ENGINE" light is on permanantly. It was supposed to be a landmark time for me. The first time I could afford to buy an Imprezza after so many years of wanting one. Unfortunately at the moment I feel like taking a sledgehammer to the damn thing! My eagerness to get one mean't I rushed the process and in doing so I think I allowed myself to be sold a shed. Anyway if anyone knows how I can find the origins of the car out all help would be gratefully received. Many thanks
  6. Hi mate, Looking to make this my first meet as both a subaru owner and a member of SIDC yaaay for me! Look forward to seeing everyone.
  7. Yup thats one of the reasons I didn't buy any of them. That and they look real tacky! I have emailed the RBF to see if they have any for sale. Any ideas when the Colin Mcrae ones will be available or where to look for them? Websites etc?
  8. I have excessive wear on one disc, caused by what we think is the caliper sticking. Although the rest are perfectly fine, I have always had this thing about "if you change one, you change all to match and remove the area of doubt". Ok, its going to work out more expensive but at least I know all four discs and pads are going to behave the same with the same amount of wear right? Anyway, as a new member is there anywhere I should start looking where my membership will benefit me? Ebay has a lot of shop-sellers with what look like reasonable price prices for sets but are these to be avoided?
  9. lol sorry put the pics on under my first name STi.G but couldn't have a full stop in the member name so had to change. Here she is. Not much to look at in these pics but thats before new springs, new tyres and a couple of coats of polish and some love. Can't wait for the fun to begin!
  10. Hi I'm currently with orange on the panther Package. I have a blackberry curve and get the following: 300 minutes any network / national numbers Unlimited Internet Unlimited Texts Free blackberry Ping / blackberry world As I am waiting for Sky to disconnect my internet so that orange can reconnect, I am currently connecting my PC through my blackberry. I also use my blackberry with my laptop when not at home. Although it is slower than a broadband line I have no issues with it and still play online high-graphics/content games with relatively no problem whatsoever. My monthly charge works out about £35 which to me, for what I get seems pretty reasonable considering. The only downside is that if my phone rings my internet crashes. However, on the move connecting through the phones browser is fast and streaming videos from sites like Youtube is fairly buffer-free. Hope this helps
  11. Hi guys! Got my first Impreza Last week after what seems like a lifetime of saying "One day..." Started cheap and found one that needed a little bit of love in the form of new front springs so until tonight I hadn't driven it over 5MPH. Took it out for my inaugral first drive tonight and am still smiling from ear to ear. I have what may seem like a really really dumb question to some of you. However its bugging me somewhat. I have had a good look under the bonnet and can't see a dump valve or anything that resembles one. Yet on gearshift or deceleration theres a very prominent "whoosh!" I've driven cars with DV fitted in the past and this doesn't sound anywhere near as loud. Could this mean theres a valve fitted or could it just be a byproduct of the turbo itself (sorry, not a mechanic nor mechanically knowledgable). Also the waistegate fitted to WRC cars and that is fitted to the Prodrive P2 the Clarkson described as "sounding like a squirrel being pushed through a mincer".. The electronic chatter.... Can you get those for a 93 WRX?
  12. Well, my first post as a fully paid up member. Had to change my name as my original forum name contained an invalid character. Still, I've now got the car I always wanted and am a member of the club I always wanted to join! Yaay for me!
