  1. now im realy getting peed off! its been serviced ,engine flushed! running sweet as! but the brake binding thing is getting worse! ive had the front end on axle stands the front wheels will spin freely in the morning when its cold but after 5 minuits driving there is a strong burning smell from the front wheels! it can still be driven around but after about 15-20 miles you realy have to drive the car hard to keep it moving! you cant drive it in 5th at slow speeds because it judders coss the front wheels are not spinning freely. at this point the calipers are smoking both sides! from 40mph if i let off the gas and put in neutral the car will slow to a stop within 50 ft without touching the brakes! any ideas?????????????????????
  2. might sound like a daft question! but how will i know if they stuck
  3. read this post 5 min ago and ive just got in from driving the car, ive bin out side and both alloys on front are hot to the touch, chucked a bit of water at the discs and they sizzled??????????? both discs! the car was stood from end of november till i got it on the road! but ive bin driving it over a week now, shouldnt the brakes have freed themselfs? its a bit strange for both calipers to have siezed dont you think? now what lol?
  4. also its worth mentioning that it does not free wheele very well! if im driving and i dip the clutch or take it out of gear it seem to slow down fairly quickly! or if i stop on a bit of a hill, take it out of gear and let the handbrake off it wownt roll! is this normal on AWD? ive checked the hand brake and its not stuck?????????????
  5. just checked air filter is well black! full service this weekend! will update sunday cheers for every ones input
  6. well that doesnt sound good, ive just stuck a set of team dynamics 17" on it!
  7. deffo no fuel leak! im not sure when it was last serviced to be honest, i was told it had been serviced before i bought it but cant be sure! could it needing aservice make it use that much fuel? cheers for the reply
  8. Hi all, i will cut straight to the chaise, ive joined here as im in desperate need of some advice! id like to think im mecanicly minded and can do most tasks with minimal effort as long as i know what the problem is! ive never had a subaru before and finaly got one back in dec 2010, it sat on the drive till last week when i tested it and put her on the road! its a 1999 T reg impreza sport 2L AWD Wagon i believe its the EJ20 engine now i know that the impreza is not going to win any awards for fuel econimy but at the min im geting about 8-9 mile to the gallon so im thinking i have a serious problem right? i havent a clue were to start, i was getting some serious random bogging down when i accelerated hard and the eml light would come on, so my immediate thoughts were plugs leads ect so checked and sure enough, the 3rd sparkplug was finger tight an was coverd in black dust as was the surpresser cap, i cleand it up, put it back and tightend it up! hey presto, no more bogging and no more eml. problem solved or so i thought! the car drives spot on now but the poor mpg still remains. any ideas? sorry if this is a long boaring first post but my wallet cannot cope at this rate lol any help would be much appreciated! cheers jimmy
