About andrew_tennant

  1. I've got a 2007 RX8 PZ (special edition RX8 with a load of Prodrive bits on it)Had it 3 weeks but only done a couple of hundred miles due to injury. Trying to do more miles and get myself fit for my free "Mazda Experience" day at Prodrive at the end of march. Trying not to compare STi v RX (too different) too much, I know I'm down on BHP/performance, hopefully not too much! Andy
  2. Hi guys, As you can see I've not posted much over the years(this is my second profile my other one disappeared? along with my avatar) I'm more of a browser/reader. I've been a member of SIDC for a few years. Think I joined when I had my first(of 3) Impreza, which I bought new in '96. Been to a few northern meets, tho not in recent years due to work/kids etc. Anyway, reason for all this waffling is that this is my goodbye post. My MY05 STi type UK had an argument with a tractor on Boxing day and lost.[] I spent nearly a week in hospital and had a lot of time to think about what to replace my scooby with when the insurance paid out, and decided to try something different. Had a fantastic 10 years with subarus (IOM at '05 TT stands out), and still miss seeing one sat on the drive, like to think I may own another one day. I'll also miss True Grip, which is excellent, tho I think I may get 1(or 2) more before my membership runs out. Thanks for a great club and site. Thanks to everybody who's ever posted advice, cos I've probably made use of most of it. Andy
  3. Great pics! Driven this road many times over the years (you used to have to open a gate at the start of the pass years ago) and it is hard work but fun at the same time.Ford Capri was the worst, couldnt see the road most of the time cos of the long bonnet. 1275GT mini was good fun, struggled up the steep bits tho. Agree with what you said about holding back the scooby, drove my STi over a couple of times last year. Wont be driving it over this year as it was written off on Boxing day! D'oh.
  4. 1 - Who do you use for servicing or repairs to your car, the local main dealer/Specialist/Independent/National chain? I did use a local (Preston) Subaru main dealer which recently changed ownership, so will have to look for somewhere else. 2 - Why do you use who you use? I bought my car from them in 2005 and it is still under warranty 3 - What would a competitor have to offer to make you change? Subaru warranty approval, owners recommendations 4 - How would you rate these in order of importance a) Price - Knowledge - c) experience - d) Clear pricing - e) explanation of work done - f) use of genuine parts. c b a e d f
  5. Jimmy Mc, sorry for the slow reply my boss has this strange idea I should be working rather than on here. Anyway thanks for the offer, I'll bear it in mind. I have been 3 times before, not for a while though ('95 I think)
  6. Yep, I'm coming over for the TT. I'll be on my R1, wife & kids will have to slum it in the STi
  7. Question as above for any IOM residents or regular visitors. I'll be over late May/early June, staying near Ramsey and just wondering where to fill up. I've done a search on the Shell website but no joy. If no Optimax what do you guys use? Thanks for any help.
  8. I've just put some of halfords own brand superbright H7 bulbs(up to 50% brighter it says on box?) in my Honda Accord and they are a lot brighter and whiter, not sure about the 50% tho. £17.99 each but there is a BOGOF offer on at the mo.
  9. << << that's gotta hurt!!! i am working the 3 "bank holidays" and am getting over 2K >> 1k a shift for the 24th 25 th 26th 27th 28th 29th 30th 31st 1st 2nd and the 3rd. Lovein it. 10. Hi guys, I've just joined the forum and this seems to be the way to introduce yourself. I've actually been a member of SIDC since 1997(IIRC) so I've visited the site loads of times but for some reason never got round to posting anything. I bought my first Impreza new in `96 a UK turbo. It was a rare sight if you ever saw another one at the time. Bought another UK turbo in `98, which I have just part-exed for a MY05 STi Type UK, which I've just finished running in. If I didnt have to work so much to pay for it I'd never stop driving it (well apart from in summer when I might take the bike out-yes I admit it I'm a fair weather rider)
