  1. Just wondered if it was anybody of here who bought the CS400 from Auto Ecosse?

I'd had my eye on it since new year - it was the the carrot keeping me going through this 7 week trip away at work!

And looks like somebody has got it. Dammit!

I think the reggie was K18 SUB.

Back to browsing Autotrader for another 3 weeks...

  2. I used to worry about the 2.5L in the hatch.

I read the scare stories and "borrowed time" forum posts and they all suggest some sort of inevitability about an engine failure - suppose it's like prophets of doom with their "The End of the World is Nigh" signs.

Reliability is part luck of the draw - part engine care. I have mine up to 345bhp with some wee mods and an Andy F remap... the remap has 'safety features' built in so if yer really worried, maybe Andy F can tweak a remap to help ease yer mind. I don't even think about it any more, had the car 18 months and <touch wood> no issues even driving most of the time on S#.

I'm now of the mindset that if it happens - it happens... I wouldn't let it put you off getting the car if it's the car you want.

If you want reliability - buy a Volkswagon (but be warned... my old Golf had the bloody engine warning light coming on every other week! lol)

Or have you considered buying a Hawk or Hatch that's been forged already?

  3. The club has it's own sponsored broker at Keith Michaels Insurance which gives good deals for SIDC Members. I'm probably saving about £100 with them at the moment for my car. And I was trying to shop around this time, they were still cheapest.. Not everyone get's the best price with them but it's working out well for me.

Also the club itself I believe has specialist legal expenses cover in the event of and accident or whatever. Can't remember the details off hand but that was included in SIDC membership, along with many other benefits. THe list is increasing all the time

By no means a comprehensive list of benefits, but a headline list of things which open up to you as a member:

Hmmm I never got a pack wi stickers or a tax disc holder

Any way to check if it was actually sent oot?

I joined when I was away at work - maybe some tink nicked them oot the communal post box area if the postie just dumped it inside the close door.

If it wasn't sent - please don't send till mid Feb cos I'm away agin till then :Scottish-flag:

  4. Sweet - hatches are the business.

I remember seeing 2 of the WRX-S in Ian Grieve's when I was buying my STi... was nearly tempted to go for cos I really liked the blue with the blacked oot windaes and dark alloys.

    Great lookin motor! :Scottish-flag:

Cold air <pssssh> induction will definitely give it more <pssssht> of the <pssssht> smile factor :headbang:

  5. I'm guessing here - but I think it might be to do with the loan type.

HPI will shows finance used to purchase a car - this is a loan taken out secured against the vehicle which I think is different. Would HPI even know a loan had been secured against the vehicle?

I'd be sceptical that the loan company had any right to the car once it had been sold... but could be wrong.

Citizens Advice Bureau probably the way to go to avoid solicitors fees short term.

    Citizens Advice Bureau

It sounds like a grey area to me - especially in Scotland where I'm pretty sure we're more protected than in England. Often these English companies just try to enforce their rules on Scotland without knowing the law - but again, I'm only guessing this might be the case here.

  6. I always park dead centre on the white line - taking up 2 spaces. I always try to do this up the back of the car park but if the car park's full, I do it anyway and just park like a douchebag! :smiley-taunt014:

Although - at Christmas, I did this and was in the supermarket for ages, when I came back there was a whole line of cars beside me all parked centred on the white line! :icon_flower:

  7. Worst on the road just now... Audi S3 drivers!

Many see a hatch STi and want a race - idiots.

I overtook an Audi S3 on a long straight on the South Deeside road... tiny cock driver of said Audi A3 then proceeded to get revenge by over taking me across the double whites approaching a bend, then to really hammer home the point S3 micro-cock then overtook the tipper truck that'd been in front of me on a blind forrested bend on a long double white section.

These Audi wannabes think they've joined the keeping up with the Jones' mob because they've got a german car... big woops - So Audi S3 drivers... yer Audi's pish and I don't even pay it attention never mind even think aboot racing it! :Scottish-flag:

  8. I can't believe Subaru even contemplated going back to silly mondeo lookalike saloons when hatches are this good! :icon_flower:

Nice car chief - I like it in the red!

Just a wee note - ye maybe want to hide yer number plate in yer pics!

  9. I'm nae impressed partly cos I don't like the looks, but it seems tiny too - but think the driver is a giant cos it seems comparable in length to the hatch STi. No AWD is another big negative.

If they wanted to build a 2 door coupe, they should have increased power levels to compete with the GT-R... nae made it a tiny wee car and dropped power levels to compete with the 350z!

    Haterz gonna Hate :icon_flower:

  10. Interesting, I didn't think they covered the battery under warranty?

So mine running down in two weeks sounds normal?

Was definitely normal for me from my first trip away to work after buying the car.

When I was doing reading on the forums about batteries - it seemed like a common problem and some folk had replaced under warranty if I remember correctly. In the end mine wouldn't even last a week and the car wouldn't even jump start after being left for half hour hooked up. I remember when I bought my car - the stealer said that I would need to run the car minimum every 3 weeks or the battery would go flat - but then obviously it lost it's "memory" and just got more and more useless as it drained again and again.

I'm away at work for another week - but can put up the model number of my bosch silver een when I get hame next Saturday.

Touch wood had zero problems starting first time. Needs a bit of messing (bending, lol) with the battery retainer but nothing major.

  11. That looks sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeet Salsa-King! :headbang:

And re: the battery in yer Hatch - I changed mine oot for a Bosch Silver, it was a slightly bigger dimensions but still fitted. Have even left my car for 5 weeks while away at work and it started forst time. The OEM one was draining in under 2 weeks just with the tracker and that. Apparently I could have got it replaced under warranty but nae sure I could have got the Bosch - and that was what was really required - nae another crap OEM one,

  12. Please tell me it isnt a 360, winter tyres on all 4 if it is. ive fitted tyres to probably every fancy car that you can buy over the past couple of years including a puncture on a very expensive volkswagen beetle, the italian cars arent bad in the snow turn tcs off and clutch it in second to pull away

    It's a Maserati - it's has an "ice/snow" button but I'm nae convinced it'll work.

  13. :iagree:

For the BMW I would say if you can bring yourself to get winter tyres for the rear then give the snow socks a try... Just don't do what this person did and fit snowchains to the front wheels :brickwall:

    2012-bmw-1-series_100334419_m.jpg

Just for the record... the car I might get them for is NOT A B.M.W.!!!!! There's no way I'd have a beemer in the family for the reasons shown in the picture lol - I'm almost as offended as if someone had suggested it was an effin Audi!

My missus has an Italian V8 - but at least it means I can slag her off because I now have the more sensible car in the household :)

Think I'll go for them - means she'll at least be able to either get hame from work or be able to reverse her car oot the drive to pinch mine for snow driving.
