  1. Various combinations to achieve 2.1 and 2.35 engines, rod length crank stroke, piston height, bore size and so on. Cost effective stoker engines are 2.1 which uses the 2lt block, the 2.35 however can be achieved in to ways. The first and foremost the strongest would use the Ej22 closed deck, and second would use the ej257 which in fact is destroked to achieve the 2.33 by using the 75 mm crank from that of a 2lt so not technically a stroker engine, all of the above use custom rod and piston combo’s.

The main benefits are increased toque and better revving engines.

so that would be a destroker kit then ah lol,but you hit the nail on the head there mate.Ryan

  2. lol yea, i just wanted to know what the gains were.

the 2.33 is the best all round of the bunch for agood comprimise between rev pickup and torqe and maximum power out put but for anything under 500 bhp the 2.1 is awinner and the cheapest.Ryan

  3. easy lads.... doesn't take much does it?? lol.. would love to meet up some time with some fellow scooby lovers locally.. as for the back seat - there are two types of girls.. back seat girls and drivers seat girls.. i would class myself as the latter.... have taken my time to get my scooby working my way slowly thru some fine v6's, think its the safest way otherwise if you go from a 100bhp to 300bhp you'd more than likely kill yourself or almost as bad write your car off!!

i remember from when i used to spend some time on bikes how when you saw another biker there would be the "nod" of recognition which seems to be the case for us scooby drivers its like were all part of something!

good girl u stay right there in the driving seat to,u are right though scooby owners do seem to be like abig family of sorts but it is nice and gives one of thoses invigarating feelings like your part of something.

  4. Where did you get bilstien gas shocks from for your scooby? I wanted to go down that route with bilstein gas shocks and white line or eibach springs but bilstein dont list impreza dampers at all in their line up. I am now looking at KYB shocks...

if your quick and look on pistonheads theres aset of bilsteins and eibach springs going and there brand new to so take a peak mate.Ryan

  5. hi their i have a import v1 wrx and it has started to lose power as when you start the car it starts hunting from 500 to 1000 rpm and then when u begin to drive the car it lurches back and too not icreasing speed (feels lethargic) tried reading faults and nothing found also car runs very rich as when driving lots of black smoke from the exhaust any ideas please. also the checkengine light isnt illuminated

possibly lamba or maf sensor mate it sounds like.Ryan

  6. who is building it for you?

doing most of it myself just getting keith at scooby prodjects to do all the maching work and having the 14mm head studs done aswell to pinch the heads nice, also got the bilstien prodrive shocks with 40mm inserts to fit,i know 1 thing my wallet is feeling the heat at the moment and my ears of the missus lol.

  7. 2.1 stroker on the horizon?

ohhh yeessss 2.1 is quite right my friend to go with the apexi fc and boost controller with vf 34 turbo and fmic with 550 ccs, tubular manifold also and tusubo race exhaust cant wait. :D Ryan

  8. quite a few over 300bhp.

    Will post results soon.

england really are awaste of space, only wish i was that fella that got to the changing room cause would have something to say i tell ya.on abrighter note ill have the money to complete my forge build soon.

  9. I had thought that also. Dont know much about batteries, certainly havent had any battery issues with the car. Will chk. Thanx

could also be the fob has gone out of sync with the car,can happen from time to time and not just on subarus either,if u know some 1 with the appropriate diag then they can recode it if not its main dealer.Ryan

  10. I'm a new impreza owner having acquired a highish mileage my97 UK turbo wagon (slightly fettled engine) as a project/practical car. Previously had highly fettled Polo G40 which was very funbut is now too small.

I want to sort the worn out suspension out with new bushes, shocks, springs etc that are a bit firmer than standard. If I want to keep the standard ride height (or close to), but get the firmer setup, what are my options?

I've done a bit of research and came up with the following:

Poly bushes where appropriate (still need to research this)

    22mm rear anti roll bar

    drop links

    BC coilovers + topmounts

Maybe an anti lift kit, but unconvinced on this atm

    Geometry setting

I think I can live with coilover hardness with a softish spring rate, but will the coilovers extend enough to get standard ride height? I've looked at dampers and performance spring kits, but its more expensive and lowers the car which I don't really want. Roads around me are awful and I'm done with scraping the road every half mile (like the polo).

    Any advice warmly welcomed

    thanks

    Andy

alright mate welcome to the world of scoobaroos u wont regret it fella, ive put the bilstien gas/oil shocks with 40mm inserts with eibach springs which keeps the standard height and what an improvment i can tell u but each to there own.ps theres some for sale on pistonheads but there the 35 mm inserts slightly softer probably better if the roads are crap round u.Ryan
  11. well ill be changing the turbo soon which is what i was told is the likely cause so i will soon find out. oh and its an excuse to upgrade to an andy forrest td04 hybrid thanks to geo on here. B)
good a excuss as any lol, sounds like you'll be getting even more bang for your buck then mate good luck with it.Ryan
  12. If it was the seals then oil would pass on the over-run, which Jim said isn't happening?

    Cheers,

    Grant

im afraid then its one of thoses jobs u have to spend money or time investigating what the cause is thats the bitch about oil burning it can be 1 of so many problems, none of which are cheap fixes unfortunatly.Ryan

  13. it depends how bad the stem seals are really cause on the flat 4 configuration oil doesnt sit directly on top of the seals so on start up it hasent gone down past but once fired the manifold negative pressure draws oil down past best bet is to full throttle up almost to red line and back off and c how much she smokes then cause that would prove turbo or not fella.Ryan

  14. hi think its a 2 type should i try cleaning it first to see if that helps at all

yeah if u take the pipes off and connect your two green plugs together and turn on the ignition the vavle starts clicking then spray brake cleaner in to the unit and finish with atiny bit of wd40 or the like and try again,if its amisfire that could explain the low boost to as the turbo isnt getting all four cylinders gas hence lowered boost, but try the soliniod first as thats quick and easy mate.Ryan

  15. hi iv got a 93 wrx import and iv just noticed that the car hesitates when taking light throttle ocasionally and becomes very jerky when trying to accelerate but i also noticed on the boost gauge that the car never boosts above 7 psi anyone have any ideas many thanks scott.

could be boost solinoid problem, what type is on yours mate is it two or three out let type.Ryan

  16. well iv described the symptoms to the subaru specialist garage and the first thing they said was sounds like the turbo seals, i have no other symptoms, ie never overheated, not using water, no noises, car drives spot on etc.

could easily be something like valve stem oil seals though cause it takes avery small amount of oil to get into the combustion chamber to notice abit of smoke and if oil changed regular u wouldnt notice a drop in the level its easy to jump on the 'its the turbo' band wagon not that it couldnt be.Ryan

  17. Hi Ryan,

Thats similar to what I have just now mate but thanks. Looking at breaking into the SLR market, just dont want to spend £700 and realise I'm crap at it haha!

    Thanks again mate.

no probs old fruit i was the same but i ended up just biting the bullet and just went for it,it is alot though i have to admit, boys and there toys ah when that would go along way towards mods lol.Ryan

  18. Hi All,

Been looking online at a few different types of "budget" SLR digital cameras and wondered if anyone had any advice when looking to buy? I enjoy a bit of snapping and although it's mainly car snapping, I'd still like to get to grips with a half decent camera.

    Looking at spending around £400.

    Thanks!

alright mate my name is Ryan i havent got slr but i have got a sony cyber shot 4 colour super HAD CCD camera with all the computer links and spare batteries, hardly ever used vgc i could send u apic and u make me an offer if u like its 8 mega pixel takes a lovely pic with monitor on the backn and all that cheers.

  19. hi ryan aye it keeps the fault when fully warm just wont take throttle just backfires on over run etc but then sometimes you start the car and drive away no fault at all even when its hot.

hmmm now uve said that it sounds more like plugs/coil pack is she single or multi coil pack type or maybe the lamba sensor riching the mixture right up but coil or plugs sounds like the culprit but without taking a voltage reading with live data or an emision read out its hard to know.

  20. hi their i have a classic wrx v1 and ever since i bought the car it occasionally after starting the car when i drive away it beggins to lurch etc when under light throttle and sometimes it misfires throughout the rev range. when it does this there is no warning lights on the dash but the car becomes rich ie black smoke from the exhaust. and then somedays it will drive perfectly any ideas please thanks.

also the car is run on v power and has a baileys dump valve k&n filter and a cat back exhaust fitted if that helps.

i also forgot to mention when the car is idleing it occasionaly picks up revs on its own and then settles back down and the times this occures it usually causes the above fault many thanks.

sounds like 1 of afew possible problems, cold start valve?idle speed control valve or possibly bad injectors old mate does it carry on the fault once fully warmed up?Ryan
