  1. Hey guys, So as always life with a scooby is never simple! I finally got my Gt Spec manifold all fixed and fitted but not at my regular garage ( see old post ) but when I drove the car she seemed sluggish and had no beans.. So I went to my normal garage and left it with them to check it over while I went on holiday... (Please note my normal garage is not a specialist just a place a friend works) Got a phone call saying that when they took it for a spin up the road it was deffo slower than normal (388bhp typical )and had suddenly spouted white smoke James Bond style out of the exhaust! So he limped it back onto a ramp and said the manifold had oil in it but also there was too much oil in her ( I had not put oil in recently ) so he did an oil change but the car was still not right... We both agreed that maybe the turbo (Garrett Gt 30) has prob blown so I ordered in a gasket kit. So I'm sat here thinking how the hell has my car ended up with too much oil ( I know how important it is to keep the levels right but also wht the f*** had this other garage done to her! I am worried that hey played with the avc-r unit as that controls my boost and tbh I have no idea how it works but could understand why someone would want o press buttons on it as it does look pretty cool! Sorry I digress - My garge today got the turbo out ( after many texts telling me hat a pain in the ass I am as it was such a long job) only to find its in full working order! When the car is plugged into the computer it's only showing that one of the exhaust sensors isn't right which is something the car has always flagged due to lack of cat... So now we have no idea what to do! Any advice would be awesome as I need my speed back! :-)
  2. That's just silly tho to do all that work and not the injectors! I would email the guy at greenwood racing again but think I'm starting to p*ss him off with my 20 question emails... Have found a garage that thinks they maybe able to weld it and if not are happy to fit the part... If they can't weld it am back to the old manifold dilemma of do I replace like for like or go with one that Alyn at As performance says he can put together for me for half the price.. But then I guess a remap would be a must with a different manifold and that's 150 per hour! By which time I might as well just get the like for like gt spec. Bah! I just want my bloody car fixed! I don't know how long I can cope borrowing the fiat 500
  3. You know the crazy thing is the car seemed fast when I got it... But now it just doesn't seem as fast... I wonder whether it's me getting used to it or if she needs a damn good service/tuning? Or maybe it's the ever increasing cost of high octane fuel.... Plus I must remember the manifold as permanently had a slight blow to it... Or maybe I just need more bhp? :-)
  4. Yes I've got a rolling road print out saying its 388.6hp. The list of upgrades is as follows.. Garrett GT30 hybrid turbo Updated fuel pump Hyperflow tmic Hyperflow wing mount air intake Milltek exhaust Gt spec exhaust manifold Apexi vac-r boost control Ecutek remap Exedy racing hyper clutch and flywheel And these are just the things I have some paperwork on... I know it has an automatic water spray system And the ecu remapp but I've no paperwork for it... I also have no paperwork for the boost control... I think there are bits missing from the file.
  5. No I don't have any extra gauges but I do have the apexi boost control which has loads of monitor options! Tbh I don't know how to use it so any tutorial would be appriceated! Although I need a working car to use it :-(
  6. I totally agree... After a crappy day at work I still get in my car and smile :-) A few bends later and I'm feeling alive again! I just hope I manage to get her back on the road soon.. It's proving to be a Logistical nightmare as am having to organise the part myself and then a garage to fit it.. And with limited knowledge its and mixed opinions its starting to worry me. But the one question everyone I speak to is asking is why is she only running 388 bhp with that bloody great big turbo on... A question I wish I could answer. All I want is one day with someone to go through all her upgrades and talk me thru the workings - it bothers me to not have a decent comprehension!
  7. Can someone tell me how the apexi works? My car came with one but no instructions... Don't want to fiddle with it incase I mess it up but would be nice to know how to use it!
  8. I'm based between swindon and cirencester but the car isn't drivable as manifold is not existent! Have found a company in swindon called performance - cars.. Website looks and sounds good but that doesn't mean squat! Urg! The things we do to keeps our cars.. This must be like marriage from a mans perspective!
  9. Thanks guys! I found Bob when I did the search for ecutek and he is just up the road. Witney is a bit too far as my car will need collecting. I agree on the specialist and have started a new topic in hope... This is what I get for not being involved with local meets etc.. Have googled but nothing is coming up :-( plus you could have snazzy website but then be crap so would prefer to use a recommended garage. Bah! Lucky I love the car else I'd have quit by now ... This has taken a whole day just to get to this point!
  10. Hi guys, I need a decent garage that can fit an exhaust manifold and up pipe to my scooby my normal garage have turned down the job as its out of their legue. I have a big ass Garret GT30 turbo so need to know that the job will get done properly and that they understand modified scoobys.. Need this sorted ASAP so any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
  11. Right.. So looks like I should be able to get a manifold and up pipe... I've had it confirmed that I do have a gt30 turbo but my local garage have bottled the job... So now the hunt is for somewhere that can get the job done efficiantly... Do I go to a Subaru garage or a specialist?
  12. Got of the phone to Alyn. Really helpful guy - think I my now have a plan!
  13. I wish we had like buttons for posts on here! Since owning this car I have learnt so much but it sometimes feels like I'm connecting the dots with no bloody numbers! I feel a little ashamed to be driving something I don't fully understand as it feels disrespectful... So am reading up as much as possible at the moment but with no mechanical background as such, apart from years of being around cars and reading a hell of a lot of car mags back in the day. I am simply trying to use logic. I have found a company in swindon that work with ecutek so that's that covered, but now I need to know what to do about manifolds! I got totally ripped by the last specialist I went to ( they did work without my permission when I took it for a check and then tried to keep it telling me my head gasket had gone, which it hadn't!) I totally get that parts for my car were always going to cost more that if I drove a Ford but I still have a limit and this year so far has not been kind financially... Any advice would be so appreciated as am stranded in the middle of nowhere and sorely miss my wheels...
  14. Ha ha! Yeah.. The black bug eye is my old sti pro drive... The blue sti in my gallery is my current set of wheels... I just can't figure out how to use it as my avatar! So... Going back to the original question... I need to replace my manifold ASAP and not with the gt spec. Am based near swindon and can't get my car very far so. What should I get? And how do I go about getting it remapped? I can't find any paperwork on the original remapping so would this mean I have to pay out? And can I make her faster in the process? :-)
  15. Looking at the paperwork it's had a Garrett GT30 roller bearing core turbo fitted. What do you mean license? Sorry if that's a dumb ass question.
  16. I drive a 388bhp 53plate sti... Haven't seen any other girls in my area with any taste... They all seem to prefer little hatchbacks..
  17. Hey guys, I've got a 53 sti running at 388bhp, she's had the stage 3 pack from greenwood racing so is really packing some! My manifold has totally bitten the dust and my scooby is now resembling a tractor so is not drivable :-( I have spoken to greenwood about replacing the manifold but hey are miles away and I now can't get there. It currently has a gt spec manifold with a milltek exhaust system, greenwood have told me I can only replace with same manifold else I will have to get an ecu remap - which I did wonder about as I don't want to suffocate the engine but they are the only suppliers and they want £500 including up pipe but not fitting. Am totally stuck as I don't know any decent garages locally (Swindon/Cirenceter) and am currently carless! Anyone who knows about what my options could be please let me know or any recommendations! Being a girl can be a small disability when approaching garages which tends to put me off despite the fact I do have a basic knowledge of my motor but am out of my league with my fast and furious wanna be car... She's had shit done I just don't understand but am working on! Thanks chaps! Aim
  18. Enjoy hun you're now part of an elite group of people that love to drive.... I have an 02 sti prodrive at 305bhp thats 0-60 in 4.5 seconds!! always smiling especially as a girl shocking people as i pass them... so i'm even more part of special group of people!!
  19. long way from you i'm afraid - Southwest England.. i'd say take it to your garage and get an emmissions test done.. remember if the mixtures wrong the car wont run properly - its getting too much fuel and the car will try to compensate which is why you end up with flat spots and splutters plus you may want to get the cat checked as it may be clogged up due to the mixture prob.. good luck!
  20. haven't posted any pics yet bar my profile pic... i work for JJ's hairgroup so friday nights aren't an easy one for me to make as i work late... i'll just keep an eye out for you all.. wheres the meet?
  21. i had the same problem (check my post - i need a garage in swindon/ciren) mine was lambda sensor and a split air intake pipe... car was spitting black out the exhaust... wrote two pairs of boots off (bad news for a girl!) and my garage will never look the same from where i was warming her up! where abouts you from?
  22. easy lads.... doesn't take much does it?? lol.. would love to meet up some time with some fellow scooby lovers locally.. as for the back seat - there are two types of girls.. back seat girls and drivers seat girls.. i would class myself as the latter.... have taken my time to get my scooby working my way slowly thru some fine v6's, think its the safest way otherwise if you go from a 100bhp to 300bhp you'd more than likely kill yourself or almost as bad write your car off!! i remember from when i used to spend some time on bikes how when you saw another biker there would be the "nod" of recognition which seems to be the case for us scooby drivers its like were all part of something!
  23. no worries... am in a minority as a woman in a scooby anyway!! especially a 300bhp one! will update if anything goes wrong as nothing seems to go by the book with this car!!
  24. just to apologise for late reply.. decided to run her for a week as suggested by my garage and the smoking seems to have stopped but will no doubt call if i need help or picking up!! As for being 21.. that was quite a while ago now so a car would be good... is it like for like???? lol.
