  1. yeah thats one thing i admit, i love older cars, dont get me wrong i dont believe that older ones are slower or worse in any way shape or form (some cars are but most arent) but i feel like older cars are more driver focused. thats why i did up an escort over a focus. the focus looks good, but the escort has something about it that made me fall in love with it, i love fighting the torque steer sometimes, it makes me feel more in contact with the car, i like the fact that theres no fancy crap in the cabin i like it basic and functional. i also work on classic cars every now and then, have done a few mk1 mr2's and next on the cards is a turbo technics capri  but more on topic, scoobys are cool, no doubt, the new ones are fast but i prefer the classic saloon look. i know these cars get the stigma of 'chav' image but deep down i love it, i love the huge exhaust that makes an unforgettable sound and the aggressiveness of the engine and the body styling is to die for i just like the feel of a car thats like its on crack ready and waiting to kill any in its path lol
  2. thats goooorrrgeous really jealous mate i think their phenomenal cars all round, cant wait to get one !
  3. so would you say these are typical jap cars? run forever if looked after, but if ragged blow up to **** n cost alot to repair?
  4. will do mate did have a quick glance through the guide (+1 to whoever wrote it) just wondering if anyone on here owns one still, i'm very much aware that unfortunately alot of these cars are chav mobiles, due to the prices falling i've seen many many horrible cars that make me wanna rip the owner to pieces. i want one because i believe that they are a true drivers car with practicality. dont get me wrong i love porkers n beemers etc (driven my older brothers M3 for a while) and they are all lovely and quick etc but they lack that 'oohhhh' feeling. very hard to explain but sitting in a scooby makes you feel more like a rally driver, theres no luxuries (which i like) no fancy pancy stuff just pure driver focus on huge levels of traction and incredible speed. wish i could get insured on a newer one but alas a turbo 2000 will do for me just dandy would basically like someone to say "i've had a turbo 2000, good cars go wrong here there and there, look out for this and that, dont consider buying one if this or that happens, spend ££££'s on it for this and this and you will roughly see these kind of results" i love modding cars (as per my scort) which is why this is taking role of main car so i can take the scort into heavy stuff for tarmac rallying (one of my hobbies ) so the idea of bigger turbos, intercoolers, bcv's uprating brakes etc is nothing new
  5. hiya just joined this forum for some friendly advice. basically im on the lookout for a subaru impreza turbo 2000 hoping to purchase as soon as the right one comes up (im very picky!!!) i've had a love of scooby's since i was a kid and have been dying to own one for years. as its my 21st in just over a month ive been lucky enough to be able to finally insure one ! unfortunately though i can only insure the turbo 2000 as my insurance hikes up from 2000 to 8000 for a wrx or wrx sti. i'd be more than happy owning a turbo 2000 though as from what i can tell a few simple mods should up the power well enough. currently i own a ford escort 2.0 si running about 170bhp at the last dyno i took it too. so the power upgrade would be nice but also the boost would be alot more enjoyable what i really would like to know from all you lovely scooby owners is what i should be looking out for (as in desirable) and what i should avoid like the plague when viewing said scoobys. i know the obvious things such as a FSH, MOT to prove mileage, smoke from exhaust to show if the turbo is on its way out, and listen to the engine when its cold and finally gearbox give ti a good ol check over because from what i've currently read online their somewhat weak (correct me if im wrong please) is there any major problems these cars suffer from? any weak points to double check? and what mileage should i be looking for as a limit? sorry for the huge write up ! regards ollie
