  1. Ok will do, these 3 were taken when I bought the car, note dodgy TMIC (I think the car had a front mount and it was removed before it was sold) this is the engine at the moment as you can see it's pretty much in bits due to replacing a split intake pipe, (what a pain that was to get off!! I've had to remove the whole inlet manifold) so what i'll do is as I'm putting it back together I'll take pics and post them up, it should be back together tomorrow, with a later WRX TMIC. A/C pump and carbon canister will be removed,
  2. you tell me what parts /area you want a pic of and I'll take it and post it up
  3. thanks Iain at least I now know one part of it is std, god knows what else its got fitted, I guess I'd better get on the dyno and see what I've got.
  4. from what I was told, the std injector are purple 380s the yellows are 440 and fitted to later STi's, then there are pink and blues which are 550s, but because of a lack of any sort of history with my car I've no idea what's std and what's been changed, looking at the engine it also seems to have metal head gaskets, (judging by the sharp metal edge at the corner of the block > head joint) did any of the std engine specs include metal HG from the factory?
  5. are the yellow injectors also std on the P1/ver 5 STi?
  6. Yes it as EJ20 cast into the block under the alternator, but i think this relates to the engine 'model' rather than spec, ie all classics have EJ20 engines, the actual engine no is a 6 digit number unique to that engine, and would provide the details on what spec the engine left the factory with, at the end of the day it doesn’t really matter that’s the engine Ive got but I would be nice to know a little bit more about the engine ie how old is it? what car as it come from? far example the turbo is a vf28, its on yellow injectors which I believe is a STi spec, then its got full S/S exhaust with equal length headers etc so I know its not std but I’ve no idea what map its running (it says ‘tek2’ on the ECU case but that doesn’t mean anything to me) have the previous owners fitted a STi motor and left the UK turbo ECU untouched? Any info on the engine would be great
  7. Hi all, I’m planning on doing Nippon Challenge/Subaru Cup this year so I needed a car, I wanted something cheap and ended up buying a '99 UK turbo for a £1000, well the car is a bit of a dog but I suppose at the money I paid it's to be expected and for what I have planned for it, its perfect!!!, anyway the seller couldn’t find any paperwork for the car when I bought it no V5 , S/H , MOTs nothing ( so I was taking a big risk buying it in the first place and wouldn’t recommend anybody buys a car with no documents) but it was cheap so I went ahead and bought it despite my reservations, the first thing I did was apply for a new V5 and then waited, would the car come back stolen? or a write off needing a VIC check? Would I be getting a call form the DVLA or even the Police!!! All manner of dodgy scenarios have been going through my head in the wait for the new V5, well it arrived today, the DVLA have done a decent job (for a change) in getting the new V5 sorted out in less than a month (the last one I applied for took over 3 months). And it’s all good news, none of my fears have been realised and everything is in order, the only problem (there had to be one) is that the engine no doesn’t match the V5, how do I find information on the fitted engine? Eg what year is it? Is it a UK or Jap spec engine ? It could be an STi engine but how do I tell? The engine no on the V5 is 449227 the actual one on the engine is 854778 ( this is stamped on the casing next to the starter), anyone know how to trace info on the engine from just it’s number
