  1. Thanks very much but I'm going to go to my local dealer this week and see how much a new one is, I need to pick up some paint and perhaps a new heater fan as it's pretty noisy. I'll have look first though. I might take you up on that offer depending on how much the new ones are! p.s. Anyone got problems with a noisy heater fan for this MY? It was the only 'rattle' I noticed when test driving so may have to replace if the bearing has gone.
  2. Today I just bought a 2001 51 plate wagon 2.0gx. Only had 64000 miles on it but it needs a bit of TLC. Got some bad scratches and scuffs and alloys could do with a touch up, paint looks a bit flat as well. Apart from that it's in great condition. Engine seems sound and has new discs. Just wanted to ask advice as to what I should look for on it, common faults on these models etc? I've been servicing cars myself for a few years now and this will be no different. Also I need a new 2.0GX badge for the rear, any suggestions as to where to look? Seem to find tons of wrx and sti badges but no gx ones. Pick it up Monday.
  3. I've seen some nice exhausts on some sport models but wasn't sure if the whole system had to be changed first. Thanks for the replies. I quite like the twin exhaust that came on the 2001 turbo, I'll have a look around now I know what I'm looking for!
  4. Whilst browsing around for a 2nd hand impreza I've notcied some of the sport edition 2001/02 plates come with a pretty poor looking exhaust i.e. with no chrome tip cover. (It's one of the first things I would want to change when I get one). I've found a few sites that do back boxes for the turbo versions but I was wondering, do the back boxes for the turbos fit the sport/gx or wagon versions of the same year?
  5. So it's particular to the sport then. The last one I went to see wouldn't go into gear when I selected lo ratio but it wouldn't move either...think the clutch was gone! What about the Hi ratio? I understand now that lo ratio makes first gear slower but when would you use the hi ratio?
  6. No I'm not sure what it relates to but shifting it into hi/low had a corresponding light on the dash. My dad's 2000 plate impreza sport didn't have it so I was surprised when I saw one with it. Two cars I have looked at this week had one. Must be someone on here who's car has one that can tell us what it does.
  7. Hello I'm in the market for a 2nd hand impreza and have seen a couple so far but nothing I would buy. Never having owned an AWD or 4x4 I need a bit of help (might seem silly questions but searching the web hasn't helped me). One of the cars I went to see (MY2000 sportwagon) had a hi/low selector stick next to the handbrake, another model I saw (51 plate sport saloon) didn't have it. Can someone explain to me the difference in cars having/not having the hi/low selector, what's it for and if the awd system is the same on both? When should you use the hi/low selector and what advantages does it have. Was it an option when the cars were new? In other words can someone tell me what it is? Thanks
