  1. Had the gb270 in for its 5 year/ 50k service yesterday including timing belt. Big thanks to charlie and mike a grieves for a top job and the usual excellent standard of service.

They also have a deal on just now, got the service for £398 instead of over £550 and its genuine subaru parts :headbang: think most of the services have a good discount on them so maybe worth a call if yours is due.

  2. hawkeye i take it?

my key has stopped working in the boot, although the lever still works. the middle bit in the seats is the only easy way in im afraid.

has anyone got any fixes for this? tried good old wd40....nothing. have heard of a few others, coating the key in fairy liquid? heating the key up with a flame and using it in the lock? and lastly taking the whole boot lock out and soaking it and cleaning it?

2nd time ive had this problem although the 1st was under warranty thank feck!!

obviously these fixes wont cure the lever problem only the key/lock one i'll let u know how i get on as planning on tackling this over the next 1-2 weeks

  3. needing the 50k service done, so anyone got any reccomendations im in the central belt just outside glasgow. will get a price from ian grieves as well.

on another note the boot lock on the hawk has stuck broke again, got it repaired/replaced under warranty last time however that was 2 years ago. i know its a common problem with it just stopping working (cracking subaru build quality again) so are there any fixes or does it need replaced and does anyone know a price??

    cheers :occasion14:

  4. I would check it in the main header tank first and if its down in there top up first and then top up the reservoir.

Also what colour is your coolant? peachy pink or green/blue?......buy according to which it is :icon_salut:

ok cheers guys, i think its the peachy one.

  5. did your good lady check the rear struts before she bought it, F.S.H?? :smiley-taunt014: :smiley-taunt014:

my good lady makes cakes part time and ive always wondered about getting her to do a scooby cake? might have to ask her nicely now looks good!

  6. unlucky bud, good that the tracker did its job though :occasion14:

i cant help you out regards what to do but this is the reason my good lady thinks im mad, when ever i come in i hide my keys so that if someone did break in the wouldnt find them.....2 and 1/2 years of ownership and still doing it lol

  7. Why not get some kevlar pads? I have them on Brembos and they work great. Better than the ebc yellow stuff pads I had before. All fast road use. Kevlar ones are cheaper also!

have not heard good things about them in relation to them not lasting very long compared to other pads.

  8. Bad move with ebc red brakes , I had them and had brake failure twice on a Lanark run . Mintex 1144,55 pads are a sensible choice . I had ebc discs on previously with the

Mintex pads it was a cracking combination never let me down once .

    Kenny

hmmm i will go with the mintex then if the red stuff aint too good.

  9. i know i had posted a thread before about brakes, but i think i have changed ma mind (hopefully for the last time lol)

was gona go for the brake tech discs front and rear and mintex 114 or 115 pads but i thinks im gona go for the ebc pads and discs instead.

    linky to brakes

Gona go for the braided brake lines and EBC red stuff pads

and either the EBC turbo groove discs or the EBC ultimax discs, as they are the same price i would like to know:

does any one have either of them fitted?

    which ones are best?

any opinions on the quality/ or how long the discs and pads will last

its for the subaru 4 pots and it would only be for road use

    cheers guys :occasion14:

  10. Plenty of clips on you tube fo putting.them on and taking them off. i watched my fair few of them before tackling my motor. lots of various methods and how to guides. went with the most comon.and easiest or what i thought seemed the easiest then spent a day tackling my motor.

ahh forgot about the wonders of youtube!! off i go then an afternoon of video watching beckons!!

  11. Vynls cheap enouh to replace. so lots of different companys doing different priced kits or individual graphics . i.e just the swoosh or just a certain logo.. ive got both side of the swoosh spare from the kit i have that u cld have for free.whether its the qaulity and colour of the ones you have and matches... think they should still be in good nick as they just sat in the box in the hut for the past cpl years.

av got the monster energy graphics on cheers anyway! :icon_salut:

  12. right the car has got to go in and get a respray on the passenger side. was done last year under warranty by subaru, the company that are done it are doin it free off charge as its only been a year so this aint the issue im happy with that.

The dilema i have is that as the graphics are now on the car they will have to come off the 2 doors on that side, the company wont pay to replace them which i understand, however i dont know wether to get replacement ones or take the rest off?? so how hard are they likely to be to get off?? will it damage the paint work? it all depends how much the replacements will be as there are more pressing things on the car for money to be spent on i.e discs n pads.

    cheers jebus

  13. I wouldnt put a drilled disc on my car as they have a tendancy to develop cracks across the holes. Grooved would have been my choice.

there blind drilled and not straight through i think, i wouldnt touch through drilled ones either for that very reason

  14. following on from an earlier post about what brakes to go for (cheers for the help :occasion14: ) my brakes (standard 4 pots) now need done and so i was gona go for:

(front) brake tech performance discs drilled n grooved 295mm £159 from aztec performance

(rear) brake tech performance discs drilled n grooved 290mm £159 from aztec performance

mintex 115 pads for the front and rear (not searched for best price yet)

stainless steel brakelines all round (not searched for best price yet)

    new brake fluid

so now my list of questions!!

has anyone used these discs and pads before and opinions?

do those rear discs fit the hawkeye as they are only list for MY01-MY05?

do i really need to upgrade the rear disc over standard as will never be going on track?

are the mintex pads worth it over aztecs kevlar fast road or the standard subaru ones, or are there better pad options ebc, ferrodo etc?

    which brake fluid to use?

and lastly will i notice a considerable improvement over the standard discs and past?

i know its a lot of questions but cheers for any help/opinions!

    cheers jebus
