Hi all, Iam looking for a little info on the RA type of impreza I have the following info: GC8C47D and EJ20GDW4HJ been told that its a wrx sti Ra but checking the codes looks like its a wrx Ra.. So, whats the diff between the wrx Ra and the wrx sti Ra?? close box, less power, lighter panels, centre diff etc... Many thanks Jools

Will do, have ordered a boost gauge so will get a better idea on whats happening.. Cheers Jools

Hi Iain, will do all listed tomorrow the restrictor pill is in the larger diameter pipe coming from the underneath of the solenoid as it is in the pic, as I cleaned all the pipes last weekend. will resport back, thanks for all your efforts Jools

HI Iain, could'nt work out how to post pics so I have emailed the pics to you so hopefully you'll get them Cheers Jools
-
Ok Iain, did take some the other day, but not sure if I have any close ups of the solenoid.. but it post asap Cheers Jools

HI Iain, yes connected as described, removed the two pipes with the "T" piece and replaced with a straight through pipe, I expected a big difference in the performance drop but I didn't see one... not to say it may of been a little slower.. Knowing now that the missing is not down to overboost any sugguestions on the next area to look at?? Cheers Jools

HI Iain, connect the pipe today and it still missed in 4th at about 80-100, does this tell me its not over boost? To be honest I didn't feel much difference in the acceleration with the other pipe fitted. Any other ideas on possible probs if its not overboost and no ecu fault codes, trying to avoid the dealer..plus its a 60mile trip there.. Happy new year Jools

Hi Iain, yes will do Iam off on Thursday so will try that. I don't have a boost gauge but as you say I will feel it slower and report back Thanks Jools
-
Hi all, removed the restrictor in the pipe today on my 96 2000 turbo and sods law its still doing the same missing in 4th at 80, 100 mph. I have a two port solenoid so cleaned all pipes and replace for new and still the same, so with no ECU fault codes and now knowing its not overboosting any other ideas on possible problems that will be causing the engine to miss. Cheers Jools

Will do Iain, only need to the info so I know which apexi power fc to get. I think they are suited to the engine type mines a ej20g which looks like the 414-AF001. cheers Jools

Hi all, had the numbers from the guy and its confirmed the cars a WRX and not an Sti.... Could someone confirm my current cars version as Iam looking at the apexi set up. 2000 awd turbo 1996 P reg Model code GC8EK8D Engine EJ20G the apexi fc for the version 1 414-AF001 is discontiued but the version 3 414-AF005 is still available.. Merry xmas Jools

Cheers Iain, will ring them tomorrow and get the model code for you so you can confirm.. Thanks Jools

Hi all, I've just won a Sti on ebay so went to get insurance sorted and the reg is coming up as a 2000 awd turbo... having read a little I would expect the car to have red trim seats with a sti logo on the front seats also I thought it should have a strut brace as standard?? So can anyone have a look on ebay 380190020765 and tell me whether its an Sti or 2000 awd, it has a red top engine and looks like a two port boost solenoid? Merry xmas Jools

I've seen the light Iain, all explained and solution alread planned will report back or not if all's go well.... Cheers Jools

Is the pipe with the "T" piece coming from the actuator to a "T" then to the outlet of the turbo before it gets to the intercooler?? I have had this pipe of and cleaned do you know were abouts the restrictor is in this pipe? does the "T" piece act as the restricting part? Thanks Jools

Hi Iain, will have another look did check the ecu for error code buts all is well... what colour MAF will be suitable to overcome my overboost prob.. Cheers Julian
-
Hi all, managed to get time to check for any ecu fault codes today as my car is missing in 4th all the time and when very cold 3,4 and 5.. so I pluged the two black connectors in and it was continuously flasher every sec... as far as I can tell that means there is no fault found.. SO Whats the next step (Iain ) to solve this problem to should I move to warning claims Merry Xmas all Jools

Hi Iain, will it be a safer bet to get a Turbosmart Manual Boost Controller instead and then turn the boost down until the over boost stops?? I only have a 2 port solenoid so do I removed the bottom pipe with the restrictor pin a replace with a through (unrestricted hose)? The diagram on the turbosmart shows the boost controller on top of the turbo is this wise?? heat etc.. Cheers Jools

Hi all, has anyone any experience of the turbosmart fuel cutoff defender http://www.turbosmartonline.co.uk/?gclid=C...CFUoB4wodj3h4JA Looking for solutions to my overboost problem without reducing boost levels Cheers Jools

ya I've been told that before the other strange thing is that its 1996 with the coil pack onto of the inlet manifold not by the spark plugs?? Jools
-
Hi all, thought of looking at some apexi ecu and controllers, my car is a 96 2000 turbo with a 3 pin 8S ecu? Will any of the impreza apexi fc commanders be okay to setup on the car or is there a particular one I need as I thinks there a 92-98 and a 96-98??? Thanks Jools
-
Good point Iain, I ask the guy that and he said it had been, however I bet a remap will get it running sweet.. Jools
-
Yep thats the car rang the guy out of interest and sounds a little cheap, when he described the problem when cold perhaps thats way. I'll have a watch on it and see what happens.. not that I want another impreza got to get my one sorted first!!! Cheers Jools
-
Not sure Iain, looks like a non standarb BV have a look ebay item 230412942226 Cheers Jools

HI all, very quick on is rough ideal when cold normal when fitted with bigger injectors?? (440) Looking at a car with 440cc and apexi fc commander that chap said the car fine apart from when its cold and its possible to drive hard until warm? Its not a bad thing that you can't thrash it when cold but I would of expected the apexi to be setup correctly for both cold and normal running temps Any thoughts Jools
