About PeteWTNB

  1. Hi guys, Thanks for all the suggestions and input.. really helpful So il just make it a bit clear.. the revs do shoot up (as in too much) when i speed up, sorry should of made that a bit clearer. for instance if i want to go from 60mph - 70mph (keeping it legal haha) then the revs just shoot up quite a bit then i would expect in 5th and then settle back down. Hence why i thought it might be a sensor. i have 2000 2litre Sport non Turbo Wagon Impreza. Pete
  2. Have to say it doesn't feel like its slipping in all honesty. and i don't thrash it, i drive it conservatively really. any chance of this being anything else?
  3. dang it. i got a feeling i may of done a bit of damage to the clutch when reversing up some wheel ramps when i was changing my exhaust. ok thanks man, il keep an eye on it. Pete
  4. Hi guys Anyone had any trouble with their car revs shooting up when you put your foot down, especially in 5th. I'll explain a bit more.. driving a long as normal, acceleration seemed normal, but when in 5th, and i want to just speed up a bit the revs (and counter) suddenly shoot up way over 5k revs(i have a non turbo). is this likely to be a Camshaft Sensor issue? thoughts? cheers Pete
  5. Ah cheers for the heads up mate. just got a the scoobyworld gasket and bolt set.. i think that should do it cheers guys Pete
  6. ah cheers lup! yeh i seem to have the donut one. its still on the cat part of the down pipe. had to replace the bolts (that go inside the spring) that connect to it, but they didnt have any gaskets. - so il buy one right away, thought that it might be the case of leakage thanks dude Pete
  7. Hey guys I recently got a new exhaust for my 2.0 Non Turbo Impreza (wagon). it was just the center pipe and back box, but basically between the center pipe and back box connection there was - i think its called - a little gasket thing, not sure what it was made of, but either way it was pretty much perished and broken. How important is this thing between these two pipes? is it wise to go and get another and if so where would be best place? Pete
  8. So, i did the mod for the Knock sensor which seemed to work for a day, but, i am now getting the intermittent check engine light on again and my revs playing up. I'm going to order the Camshaft sensor today and change that, with and ecu reset, and see if that fixes it. here's to hoping.
  9. Just by looking around on the Net, looks like its a simple case of 1 x 10mm Bolt and replace, ECU reset and away you go. hopefully its just a faulty sensor and the cams arent busted up.
  10. Ah cheers mate that would be superb! thanks
  11. Cheers mate for the linky! i did this over the weekend, seem to cure the check engine light, for a day, then last night as i was driving it the engine light flashed on and off a few times settled down as i nursed it back home. when i accelerated it the revs seem to go up quickly but the car not accelerating - weird... almost like the rev counter was flicking up? i can only assume this is the camshaft sensor giving me odd timing, so i assume if i change the sensor that this should sort it, is this hard to do ? thanks Pete
  12. Yeh that sounds absolutely right actually!
  13. Ah right thats great man, thanks i will check that out, didn't know it was biggie on n/as Its a Classic Impreza, 2000, 2.0L Sport
  14. Hey guys, Fairly new to the forums, so you'll have to excuse me if i'm posting in the wrong section. Basically i've had my Impreza Wagon Non Turbo ( i know i know.. haha) for almost a year now, and intermittently i was getting the dreaded check engine light come on, but then go off after a few seconds (whilst driving). Recently though it has been a bit more regular, and i have experienced some lost in power now and again, but after a while it seems to go along just find. I ran the traditional diagnostic test the other day and it threw me 3 codes: Camshaft Sensor Knock Sensor O2 Sensor Needless to say i think i need to get this sorted and obviously i don't really want to drive it, but do you think i should do and ECU reset and see if the error codes i thrown again, and can some of the sensors throw another one of the sensors off? also if the case is that i need to replace the sensors, whats the sort of difficulty that i would be facing to change them myself, i'm not to bad with a spanner (previously owning a Supra TT) but kinda new to the impreza world. thankies Pete
