  1. Sorry I couldn't attend, I was down in kent doing some aerial photography of the newly built largest solar farm in the UK.

I will try my best to get to the next one, looks like I missed out on a good afternoon.

  2. Hi there,

I have run both my type 20 impreza at santa pod and my classic mini, the later on Sunday just gone.

It's a chilled out affair really.

If it's your first time there I suggest having a little mechanical sympathy for your car as damage can be done launching to hard.

Take some form of checking tyre pressures and a pump.

More tyre pressure gives less grip off the line but less drag at higher speeds so you may go through the 1/4 faster but vital seconds could be lost in spinning your wheels up at the start line.

Less tyre pressure gives more grip which is good but again it's quite easy to have to much grip and damage your drivetrain, and in turn less pressure will slow your overall speed down.

I ran 36psi front and 34 rear with no traction issues off the line so probably could of upped my pressures to 40-45 all round to bring my speed up but I didn't worry about all that as I was having fun.

I plan on going on the first RWYB in March (Sunday 9th) if I remember correctly with the type 20. Last time I went I was getting 12.3, now I have more power and torque plus better know how on tyre pressures I hope to hit high 11s.

Good time of the year to go as it's not stupidly busy so no extrended wait in line to get on, which is never good for heat soak.

If the weather is due to be dry then hopefully see you there

    Ed

  3. The type 20 is now off the road, keeps the miles down and the roads around here are pretty poor during the colder months with more and more pot holes turning up overnight.

The Toyota Hilux is my daily, that's made to take the chips from the gritters.

Another thumbs up for rainex, I use it on all 3 of my cars, even on the drivers and passengers window.

  4. I've got that cheapie eBay thing which is just good enough for picking number plates up, but you can't beat the quality of your camera Matt unless you put a gopro in there but that to bulky and would be stolen in no time.

It is a good camera yours

  5. thats a bit of a shady area. normally yes but as the car is locked and once timer counts out the car is dead then it should be ok. also what about starting your car in the winter to clear snow and de ice the windows. and thjose cars are left unlocked with the keys in the ignition.

    Indeed very shady area.

The emergency services have a system called run lock which essentially left the engine running with the keys removed.

This was mostly used on vehicles fitted with power intensive emergency lights I.E halogen bulbs, now with the LED market taking over this is not so important but will probably still be fitted to local police cars etc that use halogen still as they don't need the brightness so much, works off the same idea though with a kill switch on the handbrake when taken off.

As for the turbo timer, not really needed as you still need to stay near the car to lock it with the fob as it won't lock with fob or arm anything until the engine is off, well my old turbo 2000 wouldn't with its sigma alarm

  6. Look forward to seeing everyone at this.

Can't run mine on the day as been advised when mapping we are starting to ask a little to much of the walbro fuel pump, so a quick call to HRC performance in Malvern ( same fuel pump as the big hitters supply only the big sellers rebrand them as their own and add another £75 quid for the pleasure) and a little help from Litchfields, Bosch and Forge and I'm sorted but not until 18th feb.............sorry.

But I will be there so see you soon.

  7. My old car had this problem a month or so ago, earth checked and found to be faulty, moved earthing location and light worked again.

This was a uk car with after market Xenon's fitted with a ballast pack so the setup you have might not be the same but worth a check as its free to check

  8. Hi guys,

The guy who brought my classic turbo 2000 off me wants a touch more power, somewhere around 300-320ish.

Car is currently at 270 with EcuTek map, Afterburner sports cat and system (decat to go on car has been purchased but will go on when turbo is fitted before re map) afterburner panel filter, STI top mount intercooler.

He will need a uprated fuel pump and wants a VF turbo so my question is

Which VF turbo is best suited to reach his goal??
