  1. another one signed up here. I do hope if this one gets passed they expect to do it across the board and not just for drivers. It's about time our stupid government realised just how important some of our drivers are to the running of the country
  2. Totally agree with the lack of skill thing, so many young ones i know think that it's all to do with the performance of the machine and dont take the time to get used to the power and bring the performance of their driving up to match, hence the reason so many are bumped or written off.
  3. lol obviously that was one of my 'work in progress' pictures. On that note i dont actually think i have any completed engine pictures lol. And i dont waste my time with the pedal cars anymore, i'm much more mature than that now . Cheers Dave
  4. Whats wrong with wee 1.0 corsa drivers???????? I resemble that remark Can bee good fun for the ones who do try tho And before im chased by an angry mob I'm not claiming anything here Oh how i love my Chav Charriot sometimes
  5. I've got Falken ZE 912's on the front of my Corsa Redtop and for the money you can get them at they are great on both wet and dry roads. Seem to give alot of better known, dearer tyres a run for their money as well in the tyre test results that i looked at.
  6. Looking forward to joining in on one of these once the car is on the road . Looking more like it'll be the begining of next year the way cash is going at the moment and a wee one with a birthday coming up then the dreaded xmas. My own fault for spoiling her i suppose lol.
  7. Yes it is mate, mine is out a later Cavileir tho and has a coil pack where yours would of had the distributer. Both make the same power tho, around 156bhp standard, mine has been rolling roaded at a very healthy 160bhp tho . Car weighs aprox. 800kg so looking at around: Power at Flywheel (BHP) : 160 Weight without Driver (KG) : 800 Power to Weight Ratio (BHP Per Ton) : 203.21 0 - 60 (Secs) : 5.70 0 - 100 (Secs) : 14.68 60 - 100 (Secs) : 8.98 Quarter Mile (Secs) : 14.14 Terminal Speed (MPH) : 98.12 Drag Strip Quarter Mile (Secs) : 13.94 Drag Strip Terminal Speed (MPH) : 99.91 Done using this: http://www.letstorquebhp.com/calculator.asp Looking to sell it on at the moment and try and get a cheap runner (possibly needing few jobs done) just to get me about so i can free up some cash for the Impreza and get it on the road quicker. It's more the look on peoples faces when they see it leaving them sitting and look at the 12 valve badge on the rear hahahaha (especially the BMW drivers )
  8. I know many a girl that wouldn't let that stand in her way . Thanks for the welcome.
  9. Hi peeps i've done a search around the forum and cant find the answer. What i would like to know is how to work out the ratios to match a gearbox to a diff. My current situation is i've bought a gearbox and diff to fit to my UK impreza, checked the number on the box to confirm it is indeed from a UK spec 1996 Impreza and i was told the diff i got with it was from the same car. Stripped the backplate off the diff today to double check what i'd been told and when i divided the number of teeth on the crown wheel (39) by the number on the pinion (11) it came out to 3.545. Now according to the gearbox chart the final drive on the box (TY752VN4BA) is 4.11 so should this diff not also be a 4.11 ratio to match the box or am i just not understanding and working it all out incorrectly Would really appreciate if someone could take the time to explain how it's worked out if i've got it wrong. Cheers David
  10. If it's any help mate i think most lawyers will give you a free half hour consultation, if you phone around they will let you know over the phone. Hope you get it sorted.
  11. Depends on the cars intended use. If it's for road use then leave the ABS on and learn to tailor your driving to using it imo. My friend is currently having a Rally/track car built in which the ABS has been totally removed, this car will only ever be used for these types of events. Not sure how it'll work re the ecu but as the car now has no ABS components left as far as i'm aware it will now be tested as a non ABS car therefore the ABS light on the instrument cluster will also be removed. TBH i think his idea behind doing this is as much a weight saving thing and to 'keep the car simple', the more gadgets the car is fitted the more can go wrong type of approach. Will let you know if it will help how the ECU etc copes with the fact it no longer has the ABS system fitted once the car is up and running. The car is fitted with loom and ECU from a 96 car (i think it was this age lol) so electrical wise yours will differ being yours i think will be a can bus system.
  12. Thanks i had looked at the chart and ratios but i had noticed reading a few old posts that there were some changes with the EJ205 engine compaired to the previous engines and wasn't sure if they would cause problems bolting it together, still trying to learn the ins and out of imprezas lol. It would be good if someone could post up a list of changes and/or compatability issues between the previous engine codes and the EJ205 which i have if it wasn't to much trouble(or indeed point me in the direction of the post if it's been done previously). Cheers David
  13. Yes m8 your totally right it's : TY752VN4BA. I'm not overly worried about it being weaker at the moment tbh as it's a means to an end for me at the time being and as i'm only aiming for standard power figures i didnt see it would cause any problems, it is good to have it pointed out tho for future reference and for anyone else looking for replacement box's cheers.
  14. Just to give a bit of feedback on this Shiply site for anyone else needing parts delivered. Just got my box and diff delivered today around 11am, guy phonned me when he was about 30 minutes from my house to let me know he was on his way as promised. Overall a superb service and way cheaper than i think it would of been using the likes of DHL or similar, the site being set up similar to ebay there is a feedback system so of course there will be good couriers and bad but just check before accepting their service. Overall for me a big thumbs up.
  15. LOL nope it was a 1.0 (club model i think, no leccy window's, central locking or any other comforts for that matter but possibly the lightest model ) when i bought it with only 54k and one lady owner from new . I wanted to leave it looking much as i had bought it as i'm not really a fan of the big bodykits and prefer the 'sleeper' look . Scared many a scoob driver and various others locally haha (it's the look of what the **** i love on people's faces as they either cant shake me off their tail or i drive past them and they see the 12v badge on the back lol). Yes it has the brakes upgraded and the suspention, would be totally stupid to do it any other way imho. I fitted new calipers and mintex discs and pads to the front (rear drums are fine as standard as even with them under heavy braking the rear dances about and wants to overtake the front and always locks up first), the only mistake i made, and it was a HUGE mistake, was buying the cheap coilovers from ebay thinking that they would allow me to have the front and rear ride heights about level, yes this is the case but the sacrafice is the abismal (strongest word i could think of without swearing lol) road holding. Now i know these are known to be a bit dodgy in the corners with the big heavy engine at the front but i think the coilovers on mine amplify the fact. Engine bay picture below as requested: Think this picture was taken not long after i had sliced my hand open on the front panel when the socket slipped off the engine mount bolt and i passed out lol. doh.
  16. did you get this sorted through finding the chart m8? If not by the looks of it it should be the same as mine being: TY754VN1AA I just got a different box delivered for mine about an hour ago so hoping it will do the job being as it's from a 96 model. Good luck with your search.
  17. Ok just taken collection of my new gearbox and diff (new to me). Checked the part number on the box and the guy on ebay had listed the part number totally wrong as i suspected . The proper number is :6M-TY752VN4BA Ive checked the charts and found this to be from a : UK/Europe Impreza Turbo 2000 / GT MY96 Just edited to say my origional gearbox number should be : TY754VN1AA Could someone please confirm that this box will fit my engine (engine number in post 5). Also how do i now check that the diff will definaitly match the gearbox i.e are there any numbers i can look for and charts i can match them to like the gearbox's? Cheers peeps
  18. Front and side m8, rears will stay as standard.
  19. lmao yea i'm getting to that I was thinking crystal myself shennan, how you doing? You still on the dreaded night shift? Will give you a phone tomorrow at some point as i should be getting my gearbox and diff delivered, i'll text you first to make sure your up. David
  20. Just a quick one folks, whats the general opinion for which lights would suit my colour of car best, either the crystal clear ones or the crystal black? Picture of the car below to give you an idea of colour. Cheers David
  21. That would be good mate if you could, i'll pm you a copy of my email address. The only real issues i need to find out i think are A. will it be compatable with my engine, i.e will it all bolt up ok, the engine type as listed on the chassis plate is EJ205NW1KD B. Will it handle the power (i will only be running standard engine with a VF turbo (not sure what model but it's just a standard Impreza one to the best of my knowlege), decat exhaust, filter and hopefully a front mount as i dont like the idea of the top mount coolers) Being that i am getting the gearbox and a matching diff to go with it i dont think there will be any problems that way. Really just wanting conformation that it is an impreza turbo box and not from for example a sport or something like that. Cheers David
  22. At the risk of making myself sound silly.............what about the gearbox oil? could a change of oil and refilling with decent oil maybe help? I could be barking up the wrong tree but i've heard of people having problems selecting gears etc when either needing the oil changed or when using the wrong type or cheap oil. could give you a cheaper option to explore first if it's not been thought about. David
  23. It's just the C20XE (non Turbo) redtop i put in it, it's hard enough to keep on the road with that lol. It's been a great car to own and drive, i put the equal length shafts on it as well so it's not got the usuall torque steer issues most seem to get which helps the drivability of it. I've been in two minds really whether to get rid of it but i really cant justify or aford two cars and i've always wanted an Impreza so needs must lol. Heres a few pictures of it since i know all you guys love pictures . Spot the Seats , all fitted to origional corsa subframes so still has full adjustabillity. Excuse the chav lights, they were on the car when i bought it and i thought they would be good for winding up the local neds to have a go lol. Edited to remove reg number
  24. Hi Ace thanks for the welcome. It's a '99 V5 turbo 2000 as far as im aware, i basically bought it for a bargain price from fleebay, the guy had bought it running around 370bhp with a 6 speed box, and an andy forrest 20g turbo. The head gasket had went on it and the previous owner couldn't afford to put out any more cash so he decided to break it and sell the goodies off it. Thats left me needing the engine problem sorted (gonna do a full strip down and just give it all a check while its out anyway), gearbox and diff which i just got from a guy on fleebay again for the bargain price of £89 delivered the 220 miles to my door, interior which has been donated by a friend (still needing a facelift dash) and a set of hubs and brakes for which i'm thinking about just using the old type insted of the 4 pots for the time being for the sake of getting the car on the road, then i'll upgrade once i sell on my old car. It's also missing the facelift frot end, bumper, lights and bonet, i have the grill. Theres pictures of it in the Scottish section of the forum so i wont put any up here to save the double post. It sounds and feels like it's needing a shed load of work but i think once i get all the bits together and get started that it wont take to long, my current car is a Redtop corsa so i have a bit of previous in stripping and building lol.
