  1. I have Ultrac Sessanta on each corner at the moment, the seem good in the wet and even better in the dry. Although in all honesty havn't much experience with other brands for comparison. They are significantly better than the s306s on before.
  2. Do you have to have a de-cat or at the very least a sports cat downpipe to get this kind of power? This is on a 2002 euro WRX.
  3. Can anyone recommend anyone one local who can do dent removal and what kind of prices can be expected?
  4. If your looking as far as Reading, also check out Car Audio Security in Hayes, i'm sure they do a fitting service. I bought my ICE from them but fit it myself. What are you looking to get done, depending its not too much trouble getting door cards off and running wire
  5. Is your car modified? As with Directline and just got a quote from Virgin and theres no options for modification.
  6. Does anyone have thier impreza insured for business use? Who with and how much extra did it cost in relation to a standard SDP policy? A broker has given a competitive quote, but has said they don't really do business use and wouldn't be possible to make that amendment down the line if required.
  7. I also got a set of SAK-2820s for use in MY02, again only 2 out of the 3 holes lined up, and I didn't use the original holes that the OEM speakers screwed into. I have to use the plastic bits the OEMs screw into and use them around the back of the door frame and utilise another of the holes in the door which luckily allowed 2 out of the 3 to be screwed in. The extra space was filled with Dynamat wherever possible to give minimal noise leakage. Basically it was as straight forward as it should have been and the adaptors did not do thier job!
  8. Can any give details where I can get hold of a breakers in this area? Needs an engine undertray.
  9. I have not dealt with the above named, although thier prices look very competitive. But if you want the one for your specific car and adjustable etc. then your looking at at least +£30 on that given, I reckon. Give them a call and let us know. I recently bought (still to be fitted), 24mm rear, 22mm front and droplinks from BalanceMotorsport, fantastic customer service and had free delivery when I ordered, although i'm not sure about now. Failing that try revolution 24/7. It seems some whiteline parts are in short supply at the moment though...
  10. a few on ebay now and again, if you're lucky, around the £250-300 last I looked. Or you could be extra lucky and already have them painted in colour to match your car!
  11. Hello Where do you get you servicing and upgrades done around this area apart from the specialist and Newbury and the dealers in Tyyford and Maidenhead? Cheers
  12. Thanks. Ive got the forms from Visa, but the hassle and headache! I just can't get may head around how they can justify not canceling. The item was only dispatched on the 4th in the end, currently stuck in the snow (unlike my scoob :-D).
  13. After a search for ‘car audio’ in Google, this company and their sister site are listed as the top two hits, although I struggle to understand how, because it’s definitely not repeat custom, here’s why.. I placed an order for some audio equipment from this company after also realising that they are the only dedicated car audio company through Quidco (cashback). Later the next day, I received an email that there was a problem with the order and that I need to call the given a number and speak to the named person. Call 1 The call was made and the contact was busy, so asked if I could be called back. 45 minutes later, no returned call. So, I call back again. The call was answered by the named contact given and went on to be told that the 3 out of the 4 items I had ordered were not in stock and on back order. The employee then proceeded to go on to sell alternative products in place of those on my original order and said they would be sent next day delivery, although too late for today’s dispatch but would be out the following day. It turned out at the end of the conversation I wasn’t speaking to the named contact and the phone had been passed over at the start of the conversation. After some research, it was found that the Juice JA1200D amplifier, In Phase XTC43 speakers and DB Audio subs, the amplifier in particular were in no way similar to specification to the original equipment ordered and after further investigation released that they are cheap units manufactured in China and then branded in the UK by CAC. There is no reliable source for the specifications of the hardware apart from a poorly made website hosted by the company themselves. What was even more annoying was that all of the items I originally wanted were still showing on their web site as part of their xmas offers. Call 2 At this point a call was made to cancel the order in full compliance with the companies own T&Cs, there was no answer. Called again first thing the next day only to be told the order has been processed already and they would not cancel in any circumstances, even though the delivery company had not at this point had any involvement, various excuses were made. Fair play to the sales guy who did seem to know his audio technical information, but this was no supported with any facts with regards to the alternative products sold. Confusion tactics, maybe? Call 3 I made another call in order to cancel the order citing their own T&Cs, saying that I was not happy with being supplied with substandard products different from the original order. Not at one point was I told that I was in breach of their returns policy, but the CAC representative went on to justify the choice of alternative products given, abnormal working hours during xmas, rather than proceed with the cancellation. I explained that I could not find any information to back their claims regarding the specification of what they has sold me, the conversation ended with CAC employee telling me he would ‘question my command of Google’ if I was unable to find any information. I asked whether he was going to cancel, and the conversation ended with a disappointed customer hanging up. The next part shocked me as to how low this company would go to see a sale through. Call 4 I called again to request a link to information on the technical specifications of the amplifier, my email address was taken and told information would be sent. Lo and behold half an hour later a link came through which took me to the manufacturers site which I had already visited on numerous occasions previously in search of the information I was after. There were two additional entries of the RMS values of the amplifier in the exact wording that I was told when given justification for alternative product in my third conversation of the morning. It seems strange how CAC would go to length to explain to me how they cannot update their site to actually reflect their stock levels, but have a web developer on site who can update information on their own brands website in the space of half and hour... Two weeks later, still no goods (to have been refused at the point of delivery) and a charge on my card. No response to the emails, filled web forms and phone conversations. In summary, once this company has your money there is no chance of it being returned by them, they will break their own T&Cs and employ diversionary tactics in order not to give you a refund. They use bait and switch tactics to sell their own sub standard products. You should only have custom with this company if you never expect to cancel, refund or return your order, and you would be a customer: who knows exactly what they want, and makes sure they get exactly what they want with no substitutes. OR who has absolutely no clue whatsoever and are happy for these people to sell you what THEY want, even if it seems to be far cheaper than budgeted, or far better than it seems. That’s because this is the case. There are two sides to every story, but this is my side.
  14. Some very helpful information there, thanks everyone! Brakes is something i've considered but left out for now since I dont plan to do any performance mods (for now any way ). Hows much are we looking at for basic uprated brakes?
  15. I understand ARBs are adjustable as well, what does this ajust and how easy is it to do?
  16. Yep I had this problem, and it was a loose fan/drive belt, which really just needed tensioning, replacing might have been a bit overkill.
  17. Due to just random failure? I do hear of people having to do this quite a bit, but is this mostly due to high power applications?
  18. All four tyres should be exactly the same as mentioned in previous posts, and these sets of tyres should also be swapped axle to axle at regular intervals to give an even wear. This is to ensure that the diff sees the same in all four corners, so as to not confuse/damage it. Also, the pressures is something im not too sure about, is it best to run same all round or bit higher at front? My situation being needing to change 2 tyres on separate axles, I ended up getting a whole new set of (used) wheels and with (next to new) tyres. Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta's on all for corners and they perform excellently in the dry and wet.
  19. 3 things for me: 1) Braking on the motorway 2) Not indicating (whenever) 3) Hogging the fast lane, and the opposite, not realising at junctions that people leave/join the motorway so leaving it till last minute to get out of the slow lane to comfortably let people on. Causing the performance of point 1. I find most comfort in the middle. :-)
  20. So I have been an WRX owner for over a year and a half and slowly, slowly the modding bug as bitten and I've found certain things I would like to/apparently can be improved. The vehicle is a 02 WRX and current non-aesthetic changes to the car are: Prodrive backbox K&N panel filter 18" alloys In order of preference/importance i'm thinking of: Front/rear arb and drop links - To improve handling, and tighten steering? De-cat centre pipe/possibly down pipe - increase power? Boost controller - control/adjust/limit boost? On the fly Ecu changes - Cobb Acess port/ or similar devices - economic/normal/performance maps etc. Can I have advice on how much of these changes I would be able to carry out myself without the need for a re-map (I know that mapping is needed to get the best, but i'll do that for next time around) Performance gains to be had, issues with the down pipe (possible to replace without MOT issues) Whether some are not worth carrying out and if I should change order of importance. Also with the exhaust changes is there any way to minimise noise withthe current backbox, by changing pipes, whilst maximising performance. What are similar devices to the Cobb unit and are they any good? Thanks
  21. I always thought it was for reading light direction, as in how much/intensity of cabin illumination depending on the the angle, and which of the two left/right lights you have on. But im talking about in a 02 wrx, never seen an 03 interior so mught be talking about the wrong thing. The flap isn't sufficient in size to provide any kind of sunblind above the rearview anyway is it?
  22. When I went through the same as you, I was unable to find a 'new' EJ205 engine, Subaru UK did/do not supply new engines. Two options I had was To have one built from the block, which can be purchased (best option, cost of re-build) Or to source a used engine (bit of a gamble, but cheaper)
  23. Thats a great help. Diagram also gives another perspective on Matt Randolphs. The change from the standard muffler, brought out the burble, will de-catting make this further pronounced. Do find that the prodrive backbox is a tad too loud, is it generally the case that de-cat = more power = louder exhaust noise?
  24. Is this for the first few minutes after cold start, is it when you're moving the wheel (at stand), or when you're moving off?
  25. Is this also the case for newage vehicles? I'm thinking of retaining the prodrive back box, and removing the centre cat, but keeping the one closest to turbo. Again are there any real gains to be had, or does it have to be turbo straight through. Although, \i don't want the hastle come MOT time. Also, with exhaust note change, or is this purely down to the back box?
