  1. Cheers Chris, Definetley seems like a must bit of kit, gives you some reassurance anyway. Credit card is going to get an awful hammering in the next 5 weeks!..The sooner she arrives the better!
  2. Thanks Lads, will have to enquire from a few scooby owners in Ireland and see what they use.. Dont want to be doing any stupid damage to the engine anyway thats for sure. Knock Link?.Dont think ive come across them before..?? Purchased my first mod aswell last night,Vortex exhaust, sounds the nuts from what i hear on youtube.. Just a question, think i may have heard that the Type R's have equal lenght headers,is that true?? Cheers, Dave..
  3. Cheers Chris, appreciate the help.. Ya im afraid there are f** all petrol stations that sell 99 or 100RON,maybe 1 or 2 in Dublin and a few in the North, but im living in the South and there are no places that i know of.. So you think i can keep the standard ecu and put Octane Booster with every fill of the 95RON??? Or buy a new and uprated ecu?? The car is standard so id imagine that its the factory ecu thats still in it..
  4. Cheers, the thing is though,it hasnt been imported yet and dont think any of the clocks or speedos have been changed?..Suppose ill find out for definite in 5 weeks..Its a Type R anyway so thats the main thing i suppose.. Just regarding the DCCD,i dont understand this fully, what are the do's and donts?? And finally,as you may know 95RON is the highest rating we can get here in Ireland,so do you think i would be alright using that and a bottle of Octane Booster with every tank for a while before i get it remapped?? Dont want to do any permanent damage to it either though.. Cheers Lads..
  5. Hey Lads and ladies, First off just want to say great site, really helpful and lots of info. Anyway,Ive just become a Scooby owner for the first time, but still dont know what its like as my car wont arrive in Dublin from Japan for another 4-5 weeks. Always was a Toyota man, still own a Supra and Gt4 Celica 185,but always had a soft spot for the Imprezas, best sounding car i have ever heard in my life! I have just purchased a 1998 Impreza WRX STI V4 Type R V-Ltd and i just have a few questions regarding it,so any bit of help would be greatly appreciated. Car Spec: Grade 4,1998,Blue,120K Kms,P/S,E/W,Airbags,Air Con,Lowered Suspension,DCCD etc, The car comes with a lot of maintenance history i have been promised, but not much use to me when its all in Japanese! Firstly how is there any way of knowing that it is that exact model.Looking at the log book it is stated as been that particurlar model but what features in the car can confirm that?? Is there such thing as a WRX Type R and a WRX STI Type R?? It is totally standard execpt for the suspension The car has plenty of Sti badges, seats,Engine etc but the one place where i dont think there is one is on the speedo. The pic i got of the speedo isnt the best and the logo could be there but i cant seem to see it,just has me wondering? I know the mileage is highesh but i have been told that it has been well looked after with plenty of history and the belts dont need to be changed for another 2 years. The Scooby will be a weekend car as i have a van for work so it wont be putting up massive mileage. I have been told to change the MAF Sensor annually but is there anything else that i should be keeping an eye out for besides the usual service?? Finally just to any other Scooby or Type R owners, what am i letting myself in for!!..Have never driven an Impreza believe it or not, have just been a passenger on a few occasions, and loved every second of it! Anyway thats all my questions for the moment and would really appreciate any help or info you could give, Cheers, Dave..
