ask to see the noise measuring device and the calibration certificate that goes with it, i doubt they'll have one and it'll be the MOT testers opinion. i was told my car was going to fail its MOT as it was too loud, this was before he'd put it on the ramp, i told him not to start the test and i'll go elsewhere, it sailed through.

it might just need a recharge, most garages should be able assist with that
