  1. the road through glencoe is awesome, then onto the run down across the moor to tyndrum wuth the road cambering and dipping like a mad thing. i remember whooring it across the moor and nearly took off around the area where the burnt woods are by loch ba`. great fun

Yup thats the one mate, im dying to get the series mcrae fininshed and road worthy again for the start of the year and this will be the first road its going to cover some miles on........hopefully sort out this argument that classics are better than new ages???.....well for me anyway!! I ve done it in the hawkeye a good few times after it was mapped so the series mcrae has a lot to live up to so looking forward to that day!!! the applecross run up norths another cracker of a run

  2. Here's #61!! of the origional 200 still work in progress but not too far away now!!!

All my small changes can be put back to standard at any point as i kept have all the origional parts. bt feel what i've done do the car justice and dont take anything away from a seriously scarce car.

  3. I've had my hawkeye sti ppp for a wee while now and am delighted with it as it is a minter, however wasnt quite happy with the performance as it just didnt feel quite as smooth as it should and was defo overboosting coupled with the ecu freeking out now and again knowing the cat had been removed so after some chat with Alistair he told me to take it down to him for a look to see if he could work his magic.

Well I cant speak more highly of Alistair and his work within minutes of starting work and all was hooked up to the laptop he was explaining everything that was on the screen. bing bang bosh 2nd sensor on exhaust sorted out no more annoying intermitent check engine light on the dash. Then for the fun and games.......up came all the maps, fuel, air, ignition timing all the time Alistair explaining what he was looking at and adjusting, learnt alot last weekend about mapping and all the things that make your engine go and how they all relate and depend on each other. Amazing watching someone apply this much experience and will not let it go until it is absolutely spot on. Without a doubt the best money I've spent on one of my own cars and the best 4 hours learning. We racked up a good few miles on the hawkeye the car now boosts exactly as I want it to and pulls like a train getting endless amounts of horses on the tarmac, it now goes even better than it looks. Spot on mate, and cant thank you enough.

  4. For those of you who think im a vandal and want to stick big spoilers on every car!! :P Some of you may know I got my hands on my dream car around this time last year. Ever since the first time I saw Mcrae in a scoob I wanted one and now I have. Over the course of the last year i do not know how many hours have been spent on this car but its a fair few I can tell you. Kenny I know you wanted to see some pics so here you are. I was going to do a full project thread when it was done but ive got one going on smoc so i thought that i would just post up some pics to see what you all thought, its nowhere near finished but its coming along nicely now. I hope to get it finished or at least drive it to perth under its own steam for display with a couple of fellows from sm owners club for the mcrae forest stages.

Just a wee taster sorry for the poor quality pics as they dont do the car justice.

  5. you put the wrc spoiler on the hawkeye i will personally drag you along the road with a rope attatched to the classic

    dont even think about it

lol!! I guess it'll be going on the bay then!! lol

That means some cash for errrr some mods am I allowed plain black mudflaps or a set of black prodrivey ones??? :P

rest to be spent on discs, whiteline goodies and sensible engine mods and mapping then ;)

  6. As some of you know I recently got my hands on a 07 plate 2.5 hawkeye sti the other day i was tootling along (was actually giving it a bit of the beans to be honest!! ;) ) and the car really hesitated for an instand and the obd engine light came on :P thought id broke it!! Has anyone else had this issue, i think that the car has now realised that it has had the cats removed and has a full magnex system fitted. I am at some point in the very near future going to book an appointment with AndyF for a map and I know he will cure the issue. and I cant say i wasnt warned by the boys at Ian grieves as they said they were surprised it wasnt on when they swapped the system off my blobby when i got it so i was expecting it to happen so im sure they have come across it before. Is there anything i can do in the meanwhile. Please correct me if im wrong but is there some sort of temp fix i can do with a 2 ohm resister or something to temp fool the car? Im sure ive read it mentioned and also been spoken about at a few meets, just looking for a temp fix until mapping time as ive got a couple of things to do first. if so the usual answers of how to come up with a remedy please folks, cheers John

  7. Wasnt the biggest event the Mull Car Club have organised but it was good and hopefully will become an annual event. Here are some of my pictures from the day. Good mix of cars there and the weather was ok too and didnt get eaten alive by midges which was a result!! No idea why there aren't more rallies in Argyll as it has to have some of the best forestry roads in the UK anyways here's the snaps...........

  8. Hi mate sorry to hear about your car woes, but I have to disagree about the service at Ian Grieves I recently traded in there and the all they guys eg Adam and Gav and even John who has now retired bent over backwards to help me and service my needs and i'll be going back. the four or 5 times ive been at the garage ive seen a few familiar plates of sidc members there so that speaks for itself. They even gave me a few nuts and bolts for nowt that i was desperate for my series mcrae project that were proving very hard to get so i cant complain. maybe you have just been unlucky with your car or it sounds like its had a very hard life in the past. anyway that just my opinion and experience hope you get it all sorted out tho

  9. I was very lucky with the Cat ..... bought from a good friend ...well looked after too :D

your series mcrae is a special one too though :( anything planned in the future? I have modified live soon.... then there is the Falkirk wheel meet ...should be good :rotfl:

Been slowly rebuilding the sm since august last year, hopefully have it all finished by the end of the year fingers crossed. Its come on leaps and bound since the sorry state i acquired it in and then show it off a bit next year. should really start a project thread on here but have one going on smoc. was thinking about mod live and falkirk wheel so should be in attendance as it ages since ive been to a meet and iv missed the last 2 glasgow runs due to work commitments.

P7030688.jpg check out that nice clean garage floor in the second pic!!! :rotfl::D

  10. Cool :rotfl: you were the only one to notice (it has pink round the front plate too lol) Did you not spy the sign in the background....Cathy's Cars :D:rotfl:

I noticed the pink too!! lol. the cats looking good, lucky lady i gave up trying to find a series mcrae, spent a while looking for a cat in good condition which was just as hard eventually landed series mcrae #61 but got to say your cat looks in great shape got a soft spot for them
