  1. Cheers Iain, appears my actuator is the problem.

    Now for next question i have a spare turbo with no play in shaft/actuator seems solid, should i just swap the actuator or wait and swap full unit? Currently the actuator on the car does seem to vibrate a lot and not sure if would have the same with other actuator?

  2. Looked quickly at all the pipework (engine was hot and it was dark) and everything seemed tight and no obvious leaks. Althought on the 2 vacuum lines from the passenger side of inlet one goes to the vta dump valve and other has a bolt at end??? could this be one of the problems?

    All mods were done before i got the car so cant say if they were done correctly

  3. Hi guys

    Got my 98 uk turbo in november and had always been running 7psi (suspected faulty solenoid) so after sourcing 2 solenoids both werent same as mine (d'oh) finally got one from my model .... changed it tonight and now i seem to be getting a better response but only reaching 5 or 6 (sometimes 7psi).

    Any ideas what may be causing this? When i changed it i changed the plate with solenoid etc for ease (dunno if this makes a difference).

  4. The apexi is just a boost contoller and can be used with the power fc but its not an ecu.

    Sorry thats what i meant, rather than mapping ecu merely used the boost controller to get extra power but was look for info as to if any others have just this and standard ecu and how they find it etc?

    Well as my quest for 300bhp is starting to take shape im now looking into what was to map my car, Ecutek aint an option i know, Apexi FC are becoming harder to find so what other options are there?

    Was talking to someone earlier who had their 98 running an Apexi AVCR rather than the FC?

    Any info/advice much appreciated.

  6. 3 points for having no Tax and 6 and £150 fine for MOT unless you can prove that your on your way to have a test. A mate at wirk got done last week coming home from Glasgow in the wee small hours. Prat.

    No points for mot or tax offences, sure it wasnt for no insurance and a defect/offence he got the points?

  7. Planning on getting Apexi asap so i can get it mapped to make most of the mods, thinking along the lines of walbro, panel filter and possibly up-pipe before maybe sti8 top mount, td05 and 550s but think thats as far as i want to go.

    Aiming for a reliable 300bhp

  8. I apologise to all the classic owners stopped last night but this guy is a danger and needs caught.

    Didnt give me any grief last night surprisingly with time of year and time i was out expected at least a quick "where you been, you been drinking?" stop.

    Been kicking about Glasgow a lot recently and cant remember seeing one like this but will keep an eye out bud

Atm its only got a turbo back 3" exhaust with decat from what ive been told by previous owner, boost was turned down because he was scared of the car so its running 7psi just now (want that set at the standard boost) and ive also got a fmic sitting that im looking for advice regarding best time to fit with the setup of the car.

    Not looking for a particular figure just after a good power run to make sure fueling etc seems spot on and get an indication of what its running before i start modding it. Only had the car for 7 days hence little info regarding power figures atm

  10. Alright folks,

    been looking into getting my MY98 uk turbo onto the rollers to get a power run and checked out to make sure everything is as it should be with it with some mild tweaking if required. Been looking at maybe taking it up to the guys at Extreme and was wondering if anyone has used them before and how you found the experience?
