About Slickster

  1. Well, I guess this is the update 8 months on... ...I haven't bought an Impreza yet, I went on a mission to find a MG ZT 4.6 V8 (to replace my Rover 75 2.5 V6), but alas I haven't found one for the price I want to pay, so have given up on that one, and so am back to the Imprezas! I've been doing OK money wise so am now upping my budget to £5k (from 4k previously ) and could go to £5.5k if an ideal car comes along. I don't seem to be able to get a post facelift 03 car, so am focussing on getting an un-modfied 2000-2003 car. Ones I've come across seem to be in the 70k+ mileage, but I would assume this wouldn't be anything to worry about if backed up by a full service history? Is there anything specific I should look out for on a viewing? What do you think of the ones below? I'm hoping to go and see the first two of those below over the weekend: 51 Impreza WRX £4485 02 Impreza WRX Wagon £4297 51 Impreza WRX £4895 Y Impreza WRX Wagon £4995 Y Impreza WRX Turbo PPP Wagon £4990 I'm thinking there is not much to choose between them! Thanks for any help.
  2. Hello there, I'm new around here. Just after a spot of advice please. Now that I have had a reasonable job for a couple of years after 6 years of studying at university, I'm thinking about buying an Impreza I've normally changed my car pretty much every 12 months as I've only had 'cheapish' older cars, so haven't lost much money on depreciation by changing each year. However for the past 16 months I've had *says it quietly* a Rover 75 (although it is a 2.5 V6 top spec one with all the toys). I quite fancy the idea of having a really fast car for a year or two. To that end I started looking at prices for Imprezas and they seem VERY reasonable! I'll only be doing 6-8k miles per year as I drive the missus' little sporty Yaris when just in the locality, e.g. to the shops. Getting into specifics I much prefer the post 2000 'look'. Although am aware of the increased tax for those from march 2001. So I guess my ideal would be a car from 2000/early 2001. As an aside I think the car looks really smart in green and want something standard and again prefer the little boot spoiler to the large one. I was ideally looking to spend a max of £4k and I managed to nearly meet my requirements with the following: http://search.autotrader.co.uk/es-uk/www/c...x_mileage=80000 (it is actually less than 10 miles from me) The only issue being that it will be a post march 2001 so attract the higher tax. What do people think of that car and my chances of finding something suitable. I'm not in any rush really (it took me 4 months to find the perfect condition/mileage/spec Rover 75 from when I started looking) I would rather wait for the best condition ideal car than rush in. Anything I should be looking out for other than a full service history including cambelts etc. I would prefer a UK car over an import, but am not entirely sure how to tell from the outset other than ask... Many thanks.
