  1. After much head scratching and fuse blowing a visit to the most helpful Barry,he has shown me the light at the end of the tunnel which certainly brightened up my day  .The Prodrive units look like they were cut and shut in someones garden shed :o I'm all for a little light humour but on a serious note, Thanks Barry ,i would still be in the dark if it was not for you :D:D

  2. Hi guys and gals ,my problem is with my dipped headlight bulb .UK300 Prodrive unit with H7 bulb .

For a few days the nearside one would go out ,i would either give the light a knock ( Fonz style)or open the bonnet and wiggle the connectors and it would come back on but the other night it would not ..

I changed the bulb but it would not light either ,i sprayed the connections with electrical cleaner and put back together .It did light up but with a very dull orange glow ..

The connector at the loom is a 3 spade type with only 2 wires going to the bulb itself ,where does the 3rd go to ?? .I ran 2 wires from this to the bulb but with the same effect ,orange glow ..

Can anyone shed some light on this ,and enlightenment would be of help :D

P.S any cheek and you will get lamped :P

  3. Get that sorted mean time just have a search for phil beeston on face book pix on there

Welcome along to the forum Phil ,just heading over to Facebook to stalk you now  Guessing your profile pic is your car surrounded by women  ??

  4. I am with Don on this too ,rather than walk away leaving your engine to run to cool down a bit and probably voiding your insurance .You would be a lot better just driving for a few mile off boost and cooling the whole engine with moving cold air Gordon :)

  5. its down to the way the car is mapped if its a PPP as a lot of scoobs with ppp have the same prob, a remap sorts it out and you get better MPG

Mine does it after being mapped bt Mr Forrest ,from what i have ben told it is to do with the MAF not being able to tell which way the air is traveling .So when the throttle has been liftbutterfly closes excess air is pushed back they way it came ,the MAF senses air and puts fuel in causing the revs to rise.Although i think it is more so with the standard DV ???

  6. cheers mate, cars all sorted now, just replaced the hoses on the fuel rail and the problem was sorted, fitted the actuator just think ive set it up wrong but the car is being mapped next week so should all be good, pig of a job getting the inlet manifold off tho

It is a bit of a PITA getting it off ,glad you have it sorted :icon_salut:

  7. ive taken friday off to do the hoses, actuator and feww other bits so im hoping to get all it all done, good thing is my dads garage is open 24 hours so aiming to get cracking thursday night and work through the night

Well that is sounding good ,hope it all goes well for you :icon_salut:

  8. ok been to the local stealers and there looking into it, they know the fault but have not done a repair on one in over a year and due to mine being a JDM they have to email Subaru head office to find the part numbers, this is going to be a long process i think and my trip to germany is looking less and less likely in the car, but im now thinking of just changing the rubber hoses with new high pressure fuel lines and see if that solves the problem

It is a pain in the ass to get the inlet off for the first time doing it ,i did have a great expert to hand incase i got stuck ( you know who you are Boss ;) ) I just replaced the inlet gasket and put on new hoses as mentioned and it has been fine ever since (touch wood ).

Yours sounds exactly like how mine was, in that i could also see a puddle of fuel on mine too ..When i spoke to the VOSA man he said it should just have been fuel vapour and not puddling/pooling ..It was due to the different materials contracting at different rates in the cold .

If you are replacing the hoses and hard pipes with braided fule lines then it would fix it :)

  9. thats the problem mate, cheers for that, kinda pissed the bloke who owned her before me didnt have it fixed as its been an ongoing problem, only thing i cant see on that post is how subaru UK fixed the problem? seeing as mines a JDM ive got a feeling im going to have to fix it, going to pop to my nearest stealers tomorrow and see what they have to say then take a day off work this week and break the spanners out lol

You are probably right about Subaru .Does your leak happen all the time or just when it is cold ? Seems it was mostly in the colder weather it would occur .

One fix i believe was to use the fuel rail set up from a Blobeye (2003) I just replaced ny rubber hoses ,however when i removed my inlet manifold to take it all apart the clamps holding the hoses to the hard pipe were just finger tight .Making me think that this might just have been the problem with mine ....

Let us know how you get on with it.
