About Type_RA_Andy

  1. Hi guys As topic suggests, looking for a decent garage to get a rear wheel bearing replaced in the Thanet ramsgate/margate area Anyone have any experience with garages around this way? Cheers, andy
  2. Evening! So I've narrowed the rumble down to the rear drivers side wheel bearing, any ideas what this is likely to cost at a garage to give me a rough idea of current prices? Cheers guys
  3. Hey guys, Power steering hose has split, it's connected to the rack.... It's the bottom one in the picture, I think it's part 34114f on this diagram.... I've found this at a breakers, but unsure if it will be correct? I've got an 04 wrx Thanks, Andy
  4. Morning guys, As above, I say last cat removal as I'm not sure what its actually called, I've googled and googled, looked at pics, some forums says an 04 blob wrx (not sti) has 3 cats, some say two, its completely standard, I thought it had been decatted, but it hasn't. I've looked at diagrams, and although there all the same, there all labeled or named different, sections which are called centre pipes on one picture, is called the mid pipe in another, adds to my confusion when trying to find the part I need. Basically, the cat has a blow in it, I'm soon too have a subtle remap, so I thought I may as well remove it entirely, but due to my confusion, I wanna check with you guys what part I need to replace with a straight through bit of pipe. It's the cat that's not attached to the downpipe, but sits flat on the underside of the car (3rd cat?) roughly level with the front seats. If you could let me know what part it is I need, that would be awesome :-) Apologies for the long winded waffle ;-) Andy
  5. Right, looked out the window, saw a nice little trail of power steering fluid on my drive following perfectly where I turned the car around, and a nice little puddle where I waited for traffic before pulling away, just been down and looked under the car, fluid everywhere. So first things first, dumping its fluid that quickly, is it likely to be a split hose, or the pump gone? I can't get my head that far under the car to see anything, just evidence of fluid everywhere Cheers, andy
  6. Cheers guys for the replys, g1983 I will look at the bolts. Neill54, sounds like good news, no smell, no smoke, no puddles on the drive, hopefully just not topped up enough, I will keep a close eye on it Hopefully not done any serious damage with it running dry, it was only driven a mile back home in that condition.
  7. On the way home, the steering got heavier and heavier, until power steering was non existent, at first I thought I had a couple of flat tyres at the front, got home and popped the bonnet, checked the power steering fluid level, it was empty, bit of a relief as its a cheap fix. The cambelt was changed 2000 miles ago, now forgive the stupid questions, but I know on some cars, the power steering pump needs to be removed. Seems weird that it's bone dry after a recent cambelt change, it was done at a 'proper' Subaru garage. Just wondered if it's likely to be related, and it wasnt filled up properly, a quick scan about the engine bay reveals no obvious leaks....
  8. Hey guys, Further investigation, I've got a blow in the exhaust system, rang around this morning and and most places want 35-40 quid to plug in to a code reader, I can get my own for that, so gonna order one in a minute, cars not being used now as I'm going away for a week, so it will be ok until I get back, They say it never rains but it pours, got another issue that's just decide to show up on the way home from picking the wife up, I'll post a separate thread for that..... Cheers for all your help, oh and no I'm not gonna make it to the 'showcase' ;-)
  9. I know the top cat and sensor is still in place, also that the centre cat has been removed, as for the sensor, I will investigate further tomorrow.....could this be whats suddenly thrown up the check engine light?
  10. I've used it in my other two imprezas without fault too, just not this current one, just thought I'd ask..... Going to get the codes read tomorrow. *edit* Actually guys, I think I've been a bit if a spaz, I haven't had this wrx long, and it's suddenly dawned on me it's had the rear cat removed, as its had a new exhaust system, and has yet to be mapped, I'd put money on the fault code being something to do with this??
  11. Hi guys, As title suggests, petrol light came on, swung in to tescos and put in some of their 99 Ron momentum. 10 minutes later, the engine check light came on, maybe pure coincidence, but this is the first time ive used that brand. I googled the problem, and I'm not the only one that this has happend to with a 04 wrx, and it's happened to various other makes too. Obviously I will get the codes read just incase it's not duff petrol, but has this happened to anyone else? Cars running like a dream as usual, but as a precaution, I'm driving it off boost, will the light go back out when I go back to vpower, or will I have to get it reset at a garage? Cheers, Andy
  12. Thanks, I will dig out some of the old ra later, still regret selling it!, but that close ratio box was a pig on the motorways. :-(
  13. This is the new one, apologies for the picture angle! I will get some more up later, 70,000 miles, fsh history, only 1 owner too, it's almost mint :-) I'm happy with it, I only went and looked on the off chance as I was due to go and view another tomorrow, but I got it for a good price ( I think lol)
  14. Morning! Wow been some years since I was last here, as my forum name suggests, I'm andy and I used to have a white Impreza ra some years ago, 2008 was my last login!. I had that car for 3 years, then sold it and went for an for e39 m5, anyway a few years of scooting about with other cars, yesterday I made the plunge again and got myself an 04 Impreza wrx. Anyway just saying hello, and look forward to being a Subaru owner again :-) Andy
