About GWR_Turbo

  1. Morning, Some very nice man has just driven into my beloved 04 WRX and caved in the rear bumper I need a good bodyshop in Plymouth or the surrounding, to get a new one fitted and sprayed. Have to confess I haven't been on here for a while but I could really use some help. Any suggestions/recommendations would be gratefully received? (Doesn't have to be cheap, I'm not paying!) many thanks (p.s I've tried the search but had no luck)
  2. Afternoon, been a while. 3. I went a couple of years ago and I agree with John. There's plenty of cars on show and the odd display (Landrover were showing off over their 4x4 capabilities) which is all good, but the Top Gear Live is excellent. JC is as good as on TV, really good value entertainment. It is a tad expensive these days for what it is (which is why I've held back going again), but I would say it's definately worth going at least once to experience it.
  4. Scoobypedia is a brilliant source of information which is where I did most of my research, mainly under the SIDC FAQ. I think I listed the most of the changes but this bit has the full details about the changes made over the years. The model I was referring to (what mine is) were made during 1999 - 2000, the last before the 2001 newage "bug-eye." Technical specs here.
  5. Yeah, I reckon its worth holding out for the last of the classics, you get those little extra's like the 4-pot brakes, few more horses, momo steering wheel, crystal lights etc. And yeah the prices do vary, just make sure its valued correctly...then knock 'em down some!
  6. Definately not impossible! I was after the same sort of thing, maybe even more picky than you - It had to be a '99 to '00 UK Turbo 2000, with only 1 owner from new, FSH, looooow mileage and unmodified.. and I got it! Just have to be patient and keep your eyes peeled...Oh, and be prepared to travel!
  7. Evening all, Think I'm proabably safe on this one, but would appreciate some feedback all the same. I'm looking to a trackday next month (a first with the scoob) and the noise limit is 100db. I have a 2.5" H&S de-cat centre pipe and backbox (3.5" tailpipe) fitted. Only other thing is a panel filter upgrade. I'm thinking I'll be fine for noise but just wondered what other 'trackdayer's' setups are and what their noise levels are, if they know them? Cheers
  8. I know these guys are pretty good: www.armourfend.co.uk. A friend of mine had his car done ('09 WRX STi) and he's very pleased with results. Was about 300 I think for bumper, bonnet, mirrors and wings. Yes, it will probably need re-doing at some point but its cheaper than a re-spray!
  9. I realise that, I just meant aren't they a bit extreme for road use, but hey, if they work!
  10. Er, I had redstuffs fitted to my Almera and were crap when cold, though that could possibly be down to them not having been bedded in fully, even after I'd done a track day on them. Who knows? The Impreza's a lot heavier so maybe they work better for it. Aren't yellowstuffs for full on racing!? I'm also looking for some pads for my Turbo 2000 for use on the track and was looking at some Mintex M1155, another option?
  11. Right decided to go with AP Motors....BIG mistake. Got it serviced today (for 60k) and quite frankly they've done a diabolical job! Haven't changed the gearbox or diff oil, nor the fuel filter, got the tyre pressures wrong (how on earth?.. its on the f**king door pillar!), oil still dripping from the sump, lied about cleaning my air filter, didn't put the sump guard back on properly and have lost the clips and god only knows whatever else they haven't done or changed! Got to go back tomorrow now to get it all sorted NOT impressed. Jap specialists my Just wondered if anyone else has has any bad experience with these guys or if its just me!?
  12. Ah yeah, they are crap, along with the washer jet bonnet lights!
  13. Need a missus first! Is that what happened to yours then? Er.....they're not LED, but I do have blue side light bulbs, they shine white though. Unfortunately very easy to see now though through the crystal glass!! Funny you made that comment, have you spotted my car or something! Thanks for all the rest of the comments. Thought as much...I shall worry no more!
  14. Hi all, would love some feedback on this. Basically I've just fitted the crystal lights pack to my classic (sides, indicators and repeaters) which massively improves the looks it has to be said. I bought them from scoobyworld and fitted them a few weeks ago, but have just discovered that the lenses for the front indicators are not E marked and therefore technically not road legal (the bulbs are however). Apparently they will still pass an MOT though. I was just wondering what the implications or the consequences are of running with these lights on, is it likely I'll be pulled up on them if stopped? can it go as far as invalidating my insurance for instance? Anyone had any experiences with anything like that sort of thing? Also I found some on ebay that they say are road legal.. really? genuine?? Is it worth it for piece of mind or am I worrying for nothing? thanks Ade
  15. Cheers guys for the recommendation, I shall make the call!
