About NIscoob

  1. It's a sickner mate!! Regardless of what Subaru tell you it's very common, the firm I'm buying the new engine off says the sell more WRX engines than anything else he's just bought a container load of 200 from Japan!!! I cant understand how they can go when well serviced and not being abused, I could understand it ****ting itself at 140MPH would have made it easier to swallow. Anyway its for the surgeons this week and hopefully it all goes smoothly :-)
  2. Hi, and thanks for the post I've now had three opinions on the matter and I as I had pretty much guessed and feared the big end had gone!! I see yours happened gradually, I drove the 18 mile journey to work with no hint of any problems, 10 hours later when I turned the key it sounded like a tractor!! strange that it would go by sitting in a car park!! I have since found this to be a common problem with WRX's, I sourced an engine nearby from Irelands largest Jap breaker, as it happens the guy thats going to fit mine is a mutual friend, that also works for the breaker (the breaker offers a fitting service) anyway he reckons he's done around 70 heart transplants on WRX's and reckons I done well to get 86k out of mine as most dont see over 70k, I have had mine 3 years now and always thought it to be reliable, this has seriously put me off buying another!
  3. Hi all I posted a thread on here the other day about my 02 Bugeye engine rattle (no replys lol) anyway Its the big end gone, so i need a new donkey, just wondering if its advisable to go for a twin turbo or just do a straight swap for the same engine I alredy have, also would I have to upgrade the other components in my car for the twin turbo?? my car is basically standard under the bonnet with only a BOV fitted, gratefull for any advice as to pros and cons.
  4. Hi all, Im having problems with my 02 bugeye, there is an awful rattle coming from the engine, to set the scene it has 86000 miles and full service history, Ive owned it for three yrs now and had no probs thus far its standard and sensibly driven ie not ragged, the car was going fine yesterday morning, when I got in the car to come home from work as soon as I turned the key the rattle started, no previous knocks or indications of problems and no warning lights etc, very strange, I nursed the car home and had a mechanic look at it, he has suggested the big end may have gone, I'm baffled as I would have expected something like this to give warning signs or the need to have been driving the car very hard to have done such damage, Is this wishful thinking or is my engine wrecked? I'm having a second opinion on it as i'm not convinced, what else could it be? Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
  5. Thanks folks I think I'll get my order placed with scoobyworld asap
