  1. Thanks for the reply...that was how I thought I'd tackle it at first...I think a new battery is the least they should do. Presumably it's costing them money every time I call out the recovery folk. Last time it was in, they again said, 'sorry there is nothing wrong with the battery so we can't change it' & claimed it had gone thro' various checks including being with the auto electricians etc & only showed a drain of 30mA which apparently is within the acceptable limit??? Everyone tells me that the Subaru's are generally reliable & all the surveys seem to back this up...shame we seem to have got a duff one, because it'll make me think twice about buying another when it is time to change. We've ran a number of cars over the years (but mostly VW's) & I can't recall ever having to call out a breakdown service for a flat battery...that included on an F reg Polo...even after leaving it sitting for weeks while on holiday.
  2. I am new to this forum, but we've had the Scooby for about 16months now. Yesterday the car failed to start again (for the third or fourth time since brand new). It's been back to the dealers quite a few times to get checked out (once for 10 days!) but without any answers or repairs being made. Stupidly I have made sure it has never sat for more than a few days without getting a run since the last time this happened (which was usually after a holiday of around a week)...but this has obviously just hidden the problem ! I last ran it on Tuesday, but it had sat for about 6 days before that...as my wife is currently off work sick. When the recovery guy came we had to push it up the drive towards his truck after it flattened his fully charged battery booster pack. He got it jumped off the truck & I've taken it for a good run, so hopefully it'll start tomorrow. When I spoke with the dealer yesterday, no-one from 'service' was around, so I await their call tomorrow. Any suggestions on how I approach this...yes it's 'only' a 1.5r but we spent almost £13k on it, our first brand new car...and it has been more unreliable than much older & cheaper cars I have ran over the years. Part of me wants to just get rid of it (but I know we'll lose loads!), other than the starting problems my wife loves it (although I feel she'd like a bit more power at times!) & she picked it over the other cheaper/more conventional options we had ( used Focus etc ) Any help would be much appreciated.
