  4. Just an update folks Phoned dealers today and got a quote for an oxygen sensor £127 + VAT, popped into local car parts dealer today and got universal one for £35. Got the one off the car and found that the internals were all rattling about in the sensor. Replaced it and car is now running sweet . Cheers folks
  5. Any idea of the cost mate? might get one tomorrow
  6. Cheers mate I had a look at that page for the codes . The maf is new so im hoping that isnt gone and i think the oxygen sensor was changed at he same time. I was going to go to nobles and get them to plug it in and get a reading but id rather diagnose and fix it without being reemed
  7. Hi guys Been having this intermittent spluttering with car on and off for a couple of weeks now but with no fault codes, i over took a van today on the way to Edinburgh and the CEL came on then went off again. Plugged in connectors when i got to destination and found it was Error 32 A/F sensor. I'm no expert but i reckon this is the cause of the spluttering, Anyone know where the bugger is located and what the cost of them are. Its a 99 classic wagon There looks like a sensor on the top of the downpipe and i think there is another in the cat somewhere? Anyone any ideas
  8. I'll see what happens tomorrow and ill try another MAF. Im jinxed with them, the cupra MAFs were tempramental aswell
  9. the MAF looks fine mate, My missus drives about 140 miles to university and back tomorrow so i'll get an idea if its still happening. I have to say it's ok most of the time but just every now and again it comes back
  10. Hi mate I bought it from Boris B from here, the only mods it has are prodrive ECU and prodrive back box. It's not thrown any CEL's yet. I changed the plugs on friday to see if i can narrow it down by process of elimination. I checked the ICV and found that most of the O ring in the valve had disintegrated and was drawing air so i replaced that and it no longer hisses. I grudge taking it to garages to have it plugged in It only seems to start spluttering after a long journey.
  11. Yeah its like a slight hesitation sometimes and its normally around the 2500-3000 rpm. only happens every now and again. Put the foot down and its like its struggling then it pulls through it and it's off!!!.
  12. Hi Guys Does anyone know if ECU Explorer or any other diagnostic software works through the OBD port with a 99 classic wagon? i had VAG-com for my Cupra which worked with a Flea bay cable and was looking for some software along the same lines for monitoring different sensors in the engine etc.... I'm getting an intermittent spluttering problem and want to see if i can track it down through software if its possible. Cheers
  13. I sussed it earlier, there was only quarter of the little O ring left to seal it so it was idling rough. O ring replaced and cars fine
  14. Hello Folks I had a little problem with my car stuttering last week which seemed to clear up after a day. The problem has came back again today with avengance. I had a look under the bonnet and i have noticed that the Idle Air Control Valve is hissing big time drawing in air. Any one any ideas on a solution as im not to clued up on Scoobies yet? It's a 99 Classic Wagon.
  15. My bro has a CTR and he is getting around the same as me. I had an Ibiza Cupra before hand which was running around 200 bhp and that was pretty good on fuel averaging 320 miles to a tank but never felt very safe in that car. Subaru is probably one of the best cars i have driven in terms of overall performance though.
  16. I just about emptied a full tank with a couple of runs into Edinburgh from the Borders and the rest town driving and i got 257 miles with some overtaking . I thought that wasn't bad
  17. Yeah seems to be fine mate it was actually Lynne that noticed something had popped off . Now i'll empty the tank of BP ****e from it and get some decent fuel in it. Lynne got a shot up and down the A7 yesterday and thought it was magic
  18. Hi Guys Finally got my validation through The car had a hose popped off that was attached to the airbox so i reconnected it tonight and all seems well again . It doesn't seem to be idling bang on but theres no spluttering in low revs anymore. Other than that the car is mint Chris and cheers again.
