  1. Hi mate Cheers for the offer, managed to get it checked out today and the joint is the wrong way round. Biy annoyed as my linkage bushes are now knackered!
  2. Can someone please clear something up for me. The little spring that connects to the gearstick linkage that helps centralise the gearstick. should the little hole for connecting the spring on the universal joint be facing up into the car or down toward the ground. Reason is i have had a loads of problems with a gearbox i had fitted about 5 weeks ago making serious grinding noises and the gearstick being bloody loose and flopping about. took it back and guy told me it must be first gear on the box that is goosed. got a spring yesterday and put the car up in the air and i can see where one side of the spring connects to but on the universal joint the little eyelet is on the top of the universal joint looking up from under the car and looks bloody impossible to connect up the spring without bending it round the universal joint. Cheers
  3. M Reg Honda Civic Glacier Had it a week and some old dude wrote it off by smashing into the back of me at 40 mph at a junction, he was trying to tune his radio in. first thing i said to him when i got out the car was "ive just f%£$ing hoovered it!
  4. Im gonna pop round tomorrow and have a look (i heard that the 4 bolts do fit but they are weaker boxes). I started off with a t reg wagon as well with Prodrive ECU, Back box etc then got my BMW but i missed the Scooby that much i had to get another. That looked a quick scooby you have there! You notice a big difference with the front mount? Im looking for a newer STI next year so im just keeping the wagon ticking over until then, its a nice motor and the leather interior is pretty good too
  5. Thomsons have one mate but, ratios are all the same but the only difference is that there are four bolts to the bellhousing in the one that they have and mine has 8 bolts being a newer box(i've heard that they fit). Just want to make sure before i buy it! Was gonna have the rebuild done but im hoping to get a newer sti at the end of the year and want to try and save a bit of cash. Incidently were you the white flash that overtook me on the straight past stow last saturday
  6. Hi Have managed to source a gearbox for my W plate Wagon but the code is different although the final drive ratios are the same. Can anyone confirm that a ty752vn3ba will fit in place of a ty754vn1aa as i am going out to but it today if it fits. Cheers
  7. its going in next saturday for a bit of work. Cant wait to get it back and its not even away yet
  8. Thanks mate Gave him a call today, taking it up tomorrow for a look
  9. Hello Folks Anyone know of any gearbox experts in the edinburgh area? My diff bearing is rumbling like mad and getting worse. Been trying to source a box but had no luck yet? Anyone any ideas? Cheers in advance
  10. i put the castrol syntax stuff in and it seems ok in mine
  11. Mine is in for MOT on Monday and my Ninja back box is bloody loud as well! On the plus side it's my mate thats doing the MOT so i hope he goes easy
  12. Hi mate You could try your lambda sensor in the down pipe?
  13. Could be, had it at local specialist today and he reckons it's the gearbox. Says it will probably need a new one soon! Been looking throgh the service history and it had hearbox problems in 2003 and had a new "gearbox kit fitted" under warranty due to fifth gear problems.
  14. Gearbox Fragments Hi Changed my gearbox oil today (it was well overdue) thought it may help erradicate some of the noise from my gearbox. Anyway the magnetic drain plug had what looked like bearings on it. This is obviously the source of the slight grating noise so i am wondering if this means a new gearbox? Any help would be appreciated Cheers guys
  15. i was going to mate but he's gonna be out of action for a little while and i can't get over due to work commitments before he finishes up on thursday. I'll see if i can get on to one of the pits at work and get the gearbox oil done then take it from there.
  16. Hi folks, looking for a little advice. Had the car dfor a couple of weeks now and i have noticed a noise from what i am assuming is the gearbox, area of the car. Its fine in 1st and 2nd gear but when i get into third, fourth and fifth it gets a noise that i can only describe as sounding like rubbing or a sanding noise. Its not to bad and the car goes into gear nice and smoothly with no grinding etc... it happens more when lifting of the gas and decelerating. I had a look through the service history and the car had a p1 clutch fitted a little while ago and i am just wondering if this would make any difference. The gearbox level is fine and although i am wondering if the oil may need changed any advice would be greatly appreciated Gogs
  17. Finaly got rid of the bailey blow off valve today and replaced it with the Oem recirc valve. Didn't think there would be a great deal of difference to be honest but the car does seem to hold boost a lot better and its also good to get rid of the bloody noise. Thanks to Philip_W for the valve! Also took the Jr cone filter off as it was a bit of a pain in the ass as well, hope to replace the original with a Green cotton panel filter shortly. Wife is still bugging me to get rid of the Ninja exhaust for something quieter but to be honest i'm starting to like the burble
  18. cheers mate It looks like the one. How much you looking for?
  19. Hi folks Been a long time since the last post as i sold my last Scoobie about 8 month ago. Missed it so much we had to get another! Anyway, i got a w plate turbo 2000 wagon yesterday and at came with a Bailey blow of valve (which im not to keen on) and a huge cone filter. I am putting the Oe airbox back in and getting a green panel filter and want to put the standard DV back on the car. Any idea how much the standard dv is for a 2000 wagon? Cheers in advance
  20. Hello there I found the piece of hose that i threw out and managed to salvage the little brass pill with the hole in it and popped it back into the replacement pipe and hey presto i have full boost again! i can't believe that that little thing can have so much effect on the performance of the car.
  21. Hi folks Just looking for a bit of advice, i removed a couple of boost hoses around the turbo as they were a little worn and i replaced them with 5 mm Samco hoses. I have only replaced two small ones from the actuator to the t piece and from the other side of the t piece. the problem is that now i dont seem to have much boost and i think i have lost the little brass pill. Anyone any ideas of part nos? or where i can get a replacement cheers G
  22. Yeah the o ring is rubber mate, you should see it when you remove the valve.
  23. Hi mate Regarding the ICV i removed mine and found that the O ring in the valve had disintegrated so i replaced it and that solved that problem.
