About Big Gav

  1. It was a subaru wheel. I've since spoken to subaru UK and they basically said that those wheels didn't come in black as standard so the wheels have been refurbed at some stage and that this is what has caused it to fail. Supposed I need to take their word for it really.
  2. Sorry, i should have made it clearer in the previous post... the strut popped out because the bolt holding it on got buffed clean off the suspension arm whilst I was sliding to a halt on it. The problem was the wheel for sure. Cheers, Gav.
  3. I would like to agree with that but the wheel looked perfect and drove absolutely fine. It certainly hasn't had any major impacts since I've owned the car and that's over a year now. Hopefully was just a manufacturing defect, wouldn't want anyone else, who wasn't so favoured by the gods of driving, to have a similar experience Might give Subaru a call and see what they think about it. Not quite sure who I'd ask to speak to though?
  4. Yup it could indeed have been a lot worse, especially considering it was on a bridge over another motorway! It's funny but when it happened I at first just thought that the back end was loosing grip but then the car was sliding side ways and when I saw the wheel bouncing off down the road I knew it was a little more than that . I don't know about the rest of you guys but I think it's only really after these things have happened that you realise how scary they are especially when you think of what could have happened. Not sure if they wheels have ever been refurbed, not while i've had the car (over a year) and don't really look like they have. Cheers, Gav.
  5. Whilst doing about 70mph on a sharp motorway bend this happened to my passenger side front wheel... I then managed to bring the car to halt safely, got the spare wheel on and about 2miles down the road this happened... Oh and here is where the wheel left the road... http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x227/bi...hewheelwent.jpg no idea where it went after that though! Pretty pish day really. Anyone seen this sort of thing happen beforeand anyone got a spare black 16" subaru wheel going?
