  1. Alright mate, had a similar problem last month with my 05 wrx. The caliper pistons are chrome plated, after a while they can corrode and they start to stick. To do the job properly you need new pistons and seals which is fine but will cost approximately £100 - this is for stainless steel pistons and all the seals etc. However, for £200 you can get your calipers professional refurbed and ready to fit - this is the option I chose and the quality is excellent. Godspeed have a good name but I found them difficult to get hold of (no reply to email or phone) - probably just unlucky. I decided to use Scooby Worx - £350 up front then refund of £150 when you send them your old calipers. Service and quality was excellent and importantly they refunded my £150 with no problems. Would definitely recommend them. Whatever you decide best of luck. Cheers Ross.
  2. Imy - I am one of the guilty ones who likes to read the forums but don't often contribute. Bought my 1st scooby in 2005 and still have it, joined sidc at the same time and renew each year. I was also part of the convoy to Banbury in 2008 and the experience will stay with me forever. Don't stop posting updates - you and Grant are the backbone of the scottish scoobies - I have always enjoyed your posts please keep going! Cheers Peco
  3. Hi mate I had a similar problem getting an answer on this, I also have a MY05 WRX. Subaru dealer told me to fit prodrive springs for MY03-MY04 but the MY05 has the redesigned inverted struts - the same as the haweye MY06-MY07. I went with the dealer's advice and I have had no problems but subsequently contacted Prodrive and this is what thet said: 'The springs are the same, the only difference is that you can change the bumpstops on the later cars and get a further improvement in ride. These are available separately from Subaru (part number is SACC2555A) but it does mean a complete strip of the front suspension again to fit them as well as having the geometry checked again.' Basically you should fit the MY06-MY07 spec for your car. Hope this helps!
  4. Congratulations Grant - that is some machine and couldn't have found a better owner - enjoy!
  5. The guy is genius, and it's all in good fun! Mind you I saw a purple scoob the other day with more wings than a tornado jet fighter, maybe he has a point.........
  6. As a previous subaru owner you should know better! Bin the 'nice' sti box and get a proper exhaust system. Meercat gets good reviews on this site, I have a tsl system which gives a nice balance between noise and everday useability. I would recommend going to the next Glasgow meet - plenty of different exhausts, have a listen and talk to the owners and then decide what suits your needs. Cheers Peco
  7. Good luck Stephen you have contributed more than most - best of luck with the house / garage hunting! Cheers Peco.
  8. Good idea - will try that. Thanks
  9. My car is booked in this week to get prodrive springs fitted. My car is a MY05 WRX which has a different suspension layout to the previous blobeyes. When you look at the online subaru website there is no listing for wrx springs for the MY05. I thought my car would be the same as the MY06 model but the dealer quoted me £195 (MY03-MY04) not £225 (MY06-07) - I am not complaining but I am worried that they might fit the wrong spec of springs - I queried this with the dealer but they reasurred me I was wrong. I read on scoobynet that MY05 springs are the same as MY03-04 but with the addition of bumpstops and cost £225! I am confused can someone shed light on this??? Cheers!
  10. Lovely car, I had a JDM previously and anything 4 star plus is minted, low miles too. Enjoy!
  11. I had T1S on my old prelude, they wore out round the outside edge very quickly, fronts lasted 9,000 miles - never tracked but stay in EK so plenty of roundabouts. Have T1Rs on my scooby and are very good less roll and harder wearing. Autocar magazine recently ran a tyre comparison - PZeros done badly and Eagle F1s came top (Toyos weren't tested). Unless you drive on the limit all the time or do track work different front and rears wont make a noticeable difference.
  12. Just phoned S&S and they quoted me £320 including vat minus my 10% discount comes to £288. So have booked the car in for next week, amazed at the difference - over £100. I have never been so pleased at the prospect of a 300 quid bill - LOL!
  13. Thanks for info - I would rather keep with subaru as the car is only 2 years old. Both Iain Greve and Eaglesham quoted approx £400, S&S looks like a good bet will phone them tomorrow - cheers.
  14. My 30k service is due for my MY05 WRX - phoned two subaru dealers and got a shock - £400! I know it's a major service but reckoned on no more than £300. I am now considering going down the independent route - Hypertech or Greers? (I am Glasgow based) Only problem is I was hoping to keep my full subaru service history which will help come resale time - or will it? Has anyone recently had a 30k service done at an official subaru dealer and if so how much did you pay? Finally, how much can I expect to pay from a specialist and who would you guys recommend? Would appreciate your advice - cheers!
