Me with my Impreza

Hi there people, I need a new altenator and I was looking on ebay, but was wondering if my car was an EJ20? It's a 1997 UK WRX 2L turbo. Any ideas? Cheers Micky

Hi there, I am wating to put in an uprated oil pump in my Impreza but I'm a bit confused on what to purchase as I don't know what type of engine mine is.. I was looking at an oil pump on Ebay for an EJ20/25 Can anybody tell me how I find out what type of engine mine is please? My car was born in August 1997 and is a 2L Turbo WRX, I don't think it's an STi as it doesn't have red manifolds but I've been told that it's set out in the same way as an STi.. How confusing for my female brain! If anybody would help it would be great Thanx in advance Micky

Hi Barry and welcome to SIDC I'm new to this too so can't really offer much help here, I've only had my Impreza for week and it's a UK one, apparently cheaper to insure.. But anyway, I'm so happy with mine, it's comfortable, has all the space you need, the power is there when you want it and great if you want to take something on the track.. The only thing I do know is they love to drink! Mine does about 50 miles on £10 and is roughly £50 to fill the tank so commuting will be quite expensive. With me I've found other Subaru owners a great help, specially ones who are handy with a spanner as they will do favours like changing your oil and belts, although I'm stuggling to find a garage who I can trust to carry out anything I have a problem with as they arn't just any old run of the mill car. I really don't think you will be dissapointed with yours when you get it and hope the people on here can give you more advice. Cheers Micky

Hello people I'm wanting to give my baby something to let it breath more easily, as in a K&N or something like that. I had a look on Ebay, as you do and found that they have ones for models 93-97 and 97-99 and they are euro spec. My Impreza is a 97 UK model so I was a tad confused as what to buy.. I want one that is less than £100 but is quality and does actually help the car. Can anybody recommend what to buy and where from? Oh and also, will it need to be remapped or anything if I put one on or will it just adjust accordingly? Cheers Micky

It 'done' it when it was cold, I say 'done' because it's stopped since I bunged in some normal 95 unleaded.. The chap who had the car before me used normal 95 unleaded and me not thinking put in 97 Optimax as I've been told it's good for these sort of cars.. So in went a tenner of unleaded, warmed her up a bit, took her for two big blasts and away she went... So maybe it was the fuel I'm really not sure about the mods, apart from the ones you can see like the STI body bits, dump valve, strut brace, 18" chromes, lowered adjustable suspension, I have no clue really about the engines on these but I've been told it's been tuned by Prodrive though I don't have a clue in what way and is 'apparently' kicking out around 300bhp, but I am going to have it put on a rolling road very soon to get the real outputs.. If it does do the bunny hopping thing again it's booked in on Saturday to be looked at so I'll let you know what occurs. Thanx very much Now where can I find a K&N for my baby to breath more easily?

It an R reg 1997 UK model

Hello people, I apologise if I've put this in the wrong section but I don't know my way around this forum yet! Anyway, I was wondering if you could help.. I've had my Impreza for a week now and am very happy apart from when I'm booting it, it bunnyhops really bad just the once or twice throwing me forward scaring the sheet out of me.. It's been tuned by Prodrive and running at 1.1 max boost, uprated turbo and 4" inlet going right through (I think that's right, I am a woman and this is my 1st Subaru) Please help! Does anybody know what the bunny hopping is? Thanx in advance

Thanx for the welcome Well I found a Subaru! And fingers crossed I'm picking it up this weekend.. I put a deposit down so it is mine It's a 2L Turbo like I wanted and has 18" Chromes, adjustable suspension, STi front splitter and skirts, dump valve, strut brace, decat stainless right through, tracker, cat1 alarm/immobiliser, boost guage, volts, oil, water etc.. And that's about all I know at the mo.. I'll get some more details once I've got it on my drive way! Here it is.. (That steering wheel will be given back to Batman asap)!

Hey people! I just thought I'd register and say hi being as I have swayed over to the land of Scoob. I haven't got one YET but it's what my heart is set on being as I've test driven two now and love the feel of them.. On was a brand new WRX STi and the other was an old 2 wheel drive non turbo.. I'm thinking of getting an older 2L T but not sure yet.. I know I want something the same or newer than M reg to have my personal plate and it has to be turbo'd! Any suggestions on what to get and some pics and prices? I am Micky (female) 30 years old from Cornwall by the way! Cheers all
