  1. "You and your Subaru Impreza turbo" book is a good place to start, also this site.. The rest comes from years of fanatical obsession and boring everyone around you stupid with facts and figures.. Not sure anyone knows everything about every model, there are too many, and that's why they're so great!! Enjoy...
  2. "But still don't think it's worthy of the Impreza name" Spot on mate, think that's what i'm worried about... The un-educated will see the new model, compare it with the likes of a Focus, and then put us all in the same bracket.. when we're clearly a long way from that ****e......
  3. I think i'm starting to come round.... Of course the improved "road-hugging capacity" would have nothing at all to do with the 245 tyres!!!!!!!!!!! Nice..
  4. Scoobyworld have some decent ones.. Good service as well every time i've used them..
  5. Cheers... had been on Scoobypedia already (ECU section is great) so i'll just need to get one from Tactrix i reckon..
  6. Anyone know where (or if) i can get an OBDII cable in the UK, instead of having to buy one from Yanksville? It's for use on an 03 uk sti.. Or even anywhere recommended for getting one from the states? Cheers dudes.
  7. The AA car inspections are a shower of sh***, carried out by a group of monkeys that know less about cars than a 12 year old girl.. I got an inspection (comprehensive) by them and all they could come up with was the cosmetic defects that were obvious.. so i bought the car and promptly had to replace 2 badly knocking suspension struts, and found various other defects.. and they denied all knowledge and didn't want anything to do with it - waste of money and they're a shower of wan****, only my opinion right enough........
  8. Should say on the sidewalls dude no? RE070's though, only ones that look crazily like slicks from the side (and behave like them in the wet - only my opinion though!!)
  9. Yeah that sounds painfully familiar, had them on my last STI (hence the word LAST) and she came to a nasty end in the wet.....
  10. Absolutely definetely for sure 100% the good stuff.. I use the Tesco 99RON because it's the highest... think V-power and some others are 98RON which is also cool, but in my opinion avoid the normal 95RON... I've been stuck twice, once in the middle of nowhere, and once when my engine stopped driving onto a forecourt that had just ran out of super, and had to use the 95.. and the car just wasn't as good.. same car as you as well..
  11. Not many companies like imports, that's the problem.. I'm with Admiral for my 2003 UK STI, and they're great, but due to my chequered past i still pay a ridiculous price. You might be more succesful.. Nice looking car, i spotted it in the Trader myself (not for me just now though) out of interest have you looked at it or checked out the dealers reputation? I've looked at a few cars in there, quite a small setup.. do you know if they offer any warranty etc?
  12. Will need it reset because once the light's on it won't go away until it's reset, but that's fine as long as i can get the problem sorted.. Away at work on a ship the now so will probably try that once i get home.. cheers for that..
  13. R.I.P. Colin Mcrae The moment I passed a Series Mcrae on the road as a youngster was the moment I knew what I wanted to drive as an adult, i'll never forget that moment, and its the reason I drive a Subaru.. Legend.
  14. Cheers mate, had a new battery since as well.... i think the alternator is working perfectly for all intents and purposes, it's just not talking to the car correctly....
  15. Yeah that could be it, or maybe the right unit re-conditioned with different parts so that it's not communicating with it correctly?
  16. Ahhh.. what was the problem with your alternator in the first place?? Did you have the Engine management light on? The plug on the alternator has 3 wires, apparently 2 have 12volt supply for excitation, and the other is supposed to have 6 volts, but one of the garages told me there was nothing there, i'm wondering if that wire is for the ECU and the charging circuit indication.. where did you connect the earth wire?
  17. Yeah the diodes and regulator went in the first place, but that just stopped it working, no warning light - then got a re-conditioned unit, worked for a day then it went as well because of faulty parts, but still no warning light, it's only the latest one that has caused the ECU warning light.. Electrically everything is fine with the charging outputs.. Did your ECU light come on? What car do you have? Cheers for your reply by the way, thought it was falling on deaf ears!
  18. My alternator died on my '03 type-uk STI, so went to auto electricians for a re-conditioned alternator, fitted it and ECU warning light has come on. Have been to two different main dealers and same auto electricians, and diagnosis from main dealers is "low alternator charging circuit" problem - but charging is fine.... Still ongoing, does anybody know anything about problems like this? Maybe caused by poor communication with the alternator if it's not an original i've been given? Any help would be much appreciated because it's doing my head in and the next step is going to be major fault-finding by main dealer, costing a fortune.. Cheers.
