  1. Thanks It's a hobby http://ThisBlueEarth.co.uk. Web site is disorganised, but I am getting it sorted slowly! Good call on the Lochinver road. I was thinking how good it would be on a bike, while I was driving it. Maybe not in Sundays weather though! That's when 4 wheels and a roof wins outright. Any other road gems you'd like to share? It'll probably be December before I can head up there again (duty calls!), but I WILL be going back. Dava Moor used to be one of my favourite fast roads when I lived up your way (RAF Burghead). Cheers, Steve.
  2. Midge's were non existent believe it or not. Must have been the 20Knot wind and lashing rain that kept them at bay! The road with the cattle on is from Lochinver to Badnagyle. It is the single track road that goes out the South side of Lochinver. Well worth a drive for the views, but it is seriously slow going for the most part. The pic was taken just South of Inverkirkaig. The pic with the boat is on the same road at Polly More. This is the sort of scenery along the length of that road. Cheers, Steve
  3. Ended up coming home Sunday night instead of Monday. One sleepless night is enough! I went to Ullapool, didn't fancy being attacked by the dog sized seagulls for my fish and chips, so I ate in the Seaforth and had a beer downstairs. Did the road up to Lochinver - WOW! - and then back down the single track road to Ullapool again. Left there and came through Aviemore where I saw a red Impreza on the back of a trailer coming South. One of you guys? Was raining/drizzly all weekend, but it made no real difference. I had the A835 to myself all the way from just outside Ullapool to near Strathpeffer 470 miles in about 12 hours of driving on some of the greatest roads in this country makes me one happy Impreza owner! Many thanks to all for the suggestions. I know where to come the next time I'm stuck for ideas! Most of these pics were taken on my mobile because I'm lazy. Excuse the quality. Met this beast before I even left Angus! Camped on Loch Broom (Broomhill campsite) Some wee back road that I'll be visiting again. It was okay. My brakes needed to cool anyway Single track road. Single track mind.
  4. Thanks all. And Violet sends her thanks too
  5. Dear me, it appears I have run out all of a sudden! Are you out near Wellbank? On the main road? If so I have passed your place. If not ... I haven't! Steve.
  6. I know Glen Coe very well Crafts and Things is easily the best scran shop I've been to. Sometimes pop through there, from Dundee, for Sunday lunch. Looking a bit further afield this time though. Think you've talked me into it too Stevie! Might aim for Ullapool Sat night then go North on Sunday. Was intending camping, but might make use of a local hostelry, so'z I can have wee dram And a chippy tea! Cheers
  7. Phew! Thanks man
  8. Hello all, I am heading for the hills tomorrow - Saturday - morning and it just struck me that I should ask you all if you have any favourite roads, views or camp spots I should visit. I am heading up toward Torridon for a nice wee change, probably returning - to Dundee - Monday sometime. The main purpose is to open my Scoobies legs a little and hopefully get some photos while I'm up that way. I know it's a bit late on a Fri to expect many responses, but I live in hope! Thank you in advance. Steve.
  9. Obviously. Doh!
  10. Okay I've tried to figure it out, but I'm stuck. What's a CA Kit? And should I have one on my standard WRX wagon
  11. It was easy. I just re-routed the flux capacitor to the alternate reality solenoid via the gibberish relay. Hey presto, anti-gravity
  12. Just a quick note for anyone interested! After taking delivery of my WRX (these days known as Violet) I noticed that in her previous life she appeared to have been washed with a hand full of grit and polished with sand! The more I saw her in different light, the more obvious this became. Now I am not looking for concourse condition, but I couldn't leave her looking uncared for. I used the Meguiars clay kit followed by Auto Jim (as the shop assistant called it) polish and sealant. The clay kit had £2 off in the Arbroath Halfords and Auto Jim is 3 for 2. I spent today working on her and am really pleased with the end result (hence, I am sharing her with you!). I don't think the 'before' pictures do any justice to the state of her paintwork so I haven't posted them, but believe me it was not pretty. There were long straight streaks along the length of the wings, down the c pillars and below the windows. Swirls were apparent elswhere and to make sure it was done right the guilty party had rubbed some tree sap spots so hard he had practically taken the laquer off! There was also a general dullness to the paintwork, that just wasn't working for me. The picys are a bit dark, but by tomorrow morning she'll have a 'used' look again so I thought I'd use what light there was tonight. Cheerie Steve!
  13. Yup, my name is Steve not Cheerie. But thanks all for the sentiment Cheerie bye, Steve!
  14. Because I am a newbie around here and a newbie to driving an Impreza. Think I might be hooked though! Just completed around 2,500 miles in 3 weeks. Apologies to anyone who waved at a new age blue WRX wagon recently around the Tayside/Angus areas and didn't get a wave back. I'm not used to the community spirit you guys have. Will try harder in the future. As a matter of interest I was waved by the driver of another blue new age wagon on Thu 30th Aug on the A9 just South of Perth. I was going South, he was going North. If he/you read/s this then You really have the shiniest wheels in all the land! Maybe meet some of you one of these days, Cheerie.
  15. And I only just got in on the action! Is that Subaru garage on the Perth road - dual carriageway - any good?
