About limby

  1. The paint is chipped and flaking quite badly on my bonnet scoop, don't know if it's stone chips or what but it looks a mess. It's too much for the touch up paint anymore so I think it's time for a respray. anyone else find the paint chips easily on their scoop? Can anyone recommend a good place to take it to get resprayed in the south wales area, preferably cardiff/newport? thanks.
  2. Definitely keep. I had similar comments when we were expecting our child but we've had no problems. We've been away for weekends etc in it and it's surprising just how much you can get in the boot! Car seat fitted OK, only negative would be the seat belts in the back are a little short so it only just goes round the car seat and they lock up too easily which is a bit of a fiddle but not a major problem and fine if you get an isofix base. And as said before, performance is also a safety feature - swift overtaking and good braking!
  3. Had my car serviced at a main dealer recently and was given an advisory on one of the rear shock absorbers. apparently it is leaking oil and would fail the next MOT (due end of the month) The car is a 2003 WRX PPP with about 55k miles on the clock. I would be grateful if someone could help with the following questions: 1. Is this unusual for a WRX of this age and mileage? 2. I haven't noticed any difference in the handling of the car, would I necessarily notice it in normal driving? 2. Is the leaking oil something that I would be able to check by looking myself? If so how? I'm always suspicious and would like to confirm it myself if it's easy to do to make sure they're not having me on. 3. What are my options, does anyone have any recommendations for replacement/minor upgrade (without spending £££s BTW!) Thanks in advance
  4. Hi all, I know this has probably been asked a million times before, and yes I have done a search of the forum but.... I'm planning on replacing the double DIN unit in my 03WRX with a single DIN Sony unit and fitting a parrot handsfree kit at the same time. The questions are: 1. Do I definately need an ISO adaptor (PC2-44-4) for the wiring harness or is the 03 model already equipped with ISO connectors? I'm sure I read somewhere that later models don't need the adaptor. 2. Do I need additional/alternative brackets to get the single DIN unit to fit or can I use/modify the existing brackets. I am using the single DIN tray not the Forester pocket. Just want to make sure I have all the bits I need before I start pulling the dash to bits. Nothing worse than finding out you're missing a crucial part half way through!! Does anyone know what happened to the chiark.com guide? I bookmarked it ages ago when I was thinking of all this and now I go to use it and the site has disappeared. Thanks in advance.
  5. Hi all, I have a colleague with an '03 WRX STi PPP who is interested in exploring some of the tuning potential of his car. I said that I would ask on here if anyone is able to recommend a reputable tuner/ Subaru specialist in the South West region (reasonable distance from South Wales). Not sure exactly what he wants to do but I'm sure some extra power will be one of the requirements! I've only been an Impreza owner for a couple of weeks so I'm still learning the ropes, hence the question. Thanks.
  6. Excellent, thanks! just what I was after. []
  7. Hi all, this is my first post. Had my 53 plate WRX PPP for a couple of weeks now and I love it! Apart from one thing, the standard CD/Radio/Cassette I find is a bit poor. I have a fairly decent Sony single DIN head unit from my last car which I would like to fit in it's place. I don't listen to it very much (listen to the engine mostly!!) but when I do, I like to have decent sound. I know I will need some sort of fascia adaptor, a wiring harness and possibly some mounting brackets. Can someone who has done this before tell me exactly what I will need and where to get it from. I've done some googling and not come up with anything so far. If anyone has any DIY instructions too then that would be great. Thanks
