  1. Hi All, Looking for a bit of advice please. I want to improve the handling of my car ('07 WRX, PPP fitted), and have read all about ARB's, drop links, springs and wheels etc. Starting from back to front, I guess I need 18" rims and it's just a matter of choosing some I like; I was looking at fitting some prodrive springs to the car, which will drop it by 25mm, but a mate has offerred me a set of nearly new springs off a 2004 model Sti. I take it these would fit, but will they be a marked improvement over the standard springs? I notice that Prodrive sell thier springs for both the WRX and the STI - what's the difference? Can I fit the Prodrive STI springs to my car? Will it lower it even further than the Prodrive springs specifically for the WRX? Drop links and anti-roll bars - advice on makes, places to buy and people to fit (in the Aberdeen area) would be most welcome. Once I'm done with that, I can make an appointment to see Mr Forrest. Cheers
  2. Hi, Welcome. I've just had a Subaru detachable towbar fitted to my 07 WRX - not sure how complicated it was as it was fitted by the main dealer. All I can tell you is that the official estimate by Subaru is 3 hours for fitting, which seems quite a lot to me, suggesting that it isn't as straightforward as it may appear. I've also had the PPP kit fitted which I STRONGLY recommend, whenever you have enough spare cash.
  3. Hi, I had my first service, detachable towbar (I know, not cool but needed for towing the motorcross bike) and a PPP kit fitted by Town and County in Aberdeen today. Great service, 10% off all parts and £40 per hour (+ vat) labour rates - highly recommended. Took the long way home from work tonight. Can't feel an awful lot of difference in the power, but masses of difference in the torque. Very pleased so far. For any one whose interested, the detachable towbar is brilliant! Both the mounting and the electrics are up under the rear bumper, out of site when not in use, and the tow hitch clips on (and off) in 5 secs, as and when needed. With the club discount and the current deal Subaru have on towbars at the moment, it was cheaper getting a OEM part than one from an independant fitter. Brilliant - one happy customer................................
  4. I have the car booked in for a PPP tomorrow. As it is new, I would like to be able to maintain my warranty for the next few years, so will be sticking to relatively sensible (approved) mods - after that, who knows??
  5. Hi, I'm a new member to SIDC and a new owner of an '07 WRX. I owned a 2000 model WRX 5 door model in 2002 and have fond memories of it, both speed and handling were awesome. I have now covered about 1500 miles in my new car and at the moment I am quite dissapointed by it. It is very quiet, and although quick, it seems to have lost the feeling of going quick................progress I guess. I previously ran a re-mapped Skoda Fabia vRS and must say that in straight line speed there is absolutely nothing in it! The Scooby is in a different class when it comes to handling, braking, etc but still, I think I expected more. I have it booked in for a PPP next week and am really hoping that will put the smile back on my face. Cheers,
