  1. This one.

Fine looking car for it's age TBH.

Oh Yesss..... :icon_pray: That`s The Way I`m Looking To Go.... That`s A Stunning Version 1... They Are So Rare In Red

Early Type-RA`s do look good without the frills.

This Is Mine As She Is Right Now, She`s No Rust, So A Good Starting Block

  2. If you want get any tips for an original car have a look at Gus's one of the best V1 RA's around.

    http://forums.sidc.co.uk/garage/vehicle/198-subaru-type-r/page__tab__images

Aye, Just had a looksee at it... Yep, it`s a very nice one indeed..

Version 1 Type-RA`s are getting few and far between now, so a good clean one is always special to see

But I`m thinking of taking mine back to the no side skirts, no boot spoiler look of how they originally left Subaru

  3. Well, my car is under way for getting a her new lease of life...

Was down at Andy Forrest on Monday having a much needed Re-Map - All Good, 100% better performance and drivability now

Now booked in for some body work jobs 27th June...

Having My front bumper`s crack repaired and re-sprayed, also having my Number Plate Moulded into the drivers side fog lamp area. (I have no fog lamps anyway), got a fog lamp cover for the other side which is being re-sprayed too...

I do have a wee choice to think about...... I have new STi Corner Spats for the skirts.. Do I Have them sprayed and fitted, or do I go for a bodykit strip.... Side skirts off, My High level boot spoiler taken off, then have the holes filled, smoothed and become spoilerless and skirtless.....

I Kinda fancy the idea of taking my Type-RA Back to it`s roots of how she should originally have looked...... As it`s a Version 1 Type-RA and a very Rare Red One, I`m thinking this is the way to go....

Then, it`s a few wee jobs ready for her MOT in September

  4. Andy F is the man, there are many who will agree. It is a really interesting day out, and drive home. What kind of figures did you get?

    Cheers.

I didn`t have a Dyno Run, so, new BHP is not known... But I have Dyno Print of the car when it was on the old Map, boost was 0.85bar... And it was 300.3bhp........... But the car just wasn`t running good back then... Mapping on it was very questionable

I did find out I don`t have the Turbo I thought it had... Which is a good thing, as I`d hate to advertise her for sale and sound like I`m telling Porkies... The guy I bought it from said he thought it was an TD05 18g or maybe 20g.. But turns out it`s a TD05 16g.... I`m not too upset about that though... She pulls well with it..

My new Map, with the low boost setting which is now 0.95bar, Andy I think says I should be on a healthy 330bhp.. And My Higher setting is 1.2bar....

But for me, today wasn`t about getting bigger BHP.. It was getting the car to behave the best it could..... Which Andy has definatly succeeded with...

I will be having her on the rollers once I`ve finished a few more jobs. She`s having a wee touch up in the paint department... Also thinking of stripping her back down to Original (No side skirts, no boot spoiler etc)... Also a few jobs before her MOT in September...

At least I know my car is healthy... No scary problems hiding away..... Which for 18 year old thumper ain`t bad... :driving:

  5. Just back from my trip down to Andy Forrest for my Mapping Session.

    My Red 1993 Version 1 Type-RA

I have an Apexi Power FC and an Apexi AVCr...

Andy found out straight away that the Map on my car wasn`t doing the car any justice and was wrong.

I kind of thought that anyway, cos the car had never driven like I expected it should.

So, he set about getting rid of that and giving me a new custom Map

This had been my first time with taking one of my Scooby`s for Mapping and it was very interesting.

I was chuffed that no scary nasty suprises were lurking in my set up.... Apart from Needing My spark plugs changed, or the Gap checked on them.

I have a higher boost setting on my AVCr, but I`ve to sort the Spark Plug Issue before using it. But to be honest, my lower boost setting is so responsive and snappy I`m over the moon with it.....

It really was like driving a totally different car home..

So, Thanks Again Andy for giving my 18 year Girl a new lease of life....:driving:

  6. Everytime I`m thinking of Selling the Impreza I have at the time, I always say.......

"Right, that`s my last one... Audi A4 TDi Next"... But I keep going back and getting another Scooby..

I`m on Scooby Number 5 now.. LoL....But when I sell this one in Sept..."It`s my last one and I`m getting an Audi A4 TDi"

Which means I`ll be on Scooby Number 6 in October ... LoL

I`ve always Fancied a Type-R.. So good luck in fiinding yourself a Cracking one Joe..

  7. Never been a true fan of the Blob... But that`s not to say I dislike them altogether.

But, aye, This is a nice one.... A Very nice one...

Alot of time and money gone into it and a very quality looking car as an outcome.

The rear spoiler, Hmmm.... Very Marmite.. You`ll either love it or hate it I guess.

The Price... £17,500.... Once a car has money thrown at it and it`s no longer possible

to compare and price it against a similar aged car, it`s totally down to a buyer,

if he likes and wants it enough, then they will part with cash....

Would I part with £17,500? I wish I had that sort of money.. LoL.

For that money, I Think I`d prefer an Litchfield Type 25

  8. Yeahyyy!!! That's my car booked in for a mapping session with Andy Forrest on 6th June.

Getting my Apexi FC re-mapped and my AVCr set up properly.

Even though it's my 5th Scooby, it's the first I've ever taken for mapping

It's been re-mapped previously by the garage that fitted it`s upgrades, last dyno was 300.3bhp

So hoping to squeeze more and have her running much better.

Very reasonable price too. Was pleasantly suprised.

  9. LoL... I`m a light sleeper.... PLUS I sleep nude... AND I have no problem in running straight out the door wearing just a baseball bat....

They will have 3 things to think of... Either I`m wanting a game of rounders.... Or, I`m gonna shag them, Or they can just get the **** away from my car before an angry nude t**t of a man with a baseball bat hits them all for a home run.. :P

  10. I may have posted something similiar a while ago here but kinda need advice on a samco turbo hose kit, the reason I am looking is the red elbow from turbow outlet to intercooler is badly chewed away at the ends and its a pita to get it to seal and only lasts so long and u hear the air leaking out on boost :D. I am not sure if there is an exact kit for my car a MY06 STi that has the all metal piping underneath intercooler without the gap that had to be replaced with another piece of hosing. The kits I have looked at is the tcs332 which says its for a 2.5 wrx 06 on but the image shows hoses completely diff from what i need so I am guessing the wrx intercooler underneath is diff from mine, the other kit is the tcs209 that that says its for a 2.0/2.5 and has the elbow but this kit included the hose for the split in the metal piping but would that elbow fit?, other option is just to source a 90 degree bend and cut to suit i guess. Anyone ever had to replace that red elbow hose on a 06 sti?

    Stevie

Cant really advise on what you have asked, but just wanted to throw in my sympathy and understanding as I have a similar problem with a hose on my front mount...

Gonna have to get mine replaced soon as B&Q are going to end up selling out of stock on Gaffa Tape... LoL.... Mine is a straight bit of Hose, but one end is larger than the other.. Not sure of either ends measurements.. Hopefully be sorted on Monday....

But I`m having to drive like a wuss for the time being and not boost at all cos I either splutter and whistle after 0.5bar or the gaffa tape loses its grip and blows the pipe off bring the car to a spluttery halt......

Hope you get yours sorted soon..... And mine too :P

  11. Have to say that it will good to see the saloon scooby make a comeback.... However, still needs to regain that agressive look again

Was never a fan of the new Ford Focus Style Impreza... (No Offence to owners of them, just my own taste)

Same said for Evo`s, my taste says the Evo lost it`s looks after the Series 6

  12. My RA has 149K on the clock on a `K` Plate, bought recently. (My 5th Scooby)

I wasn`t scared off by the milage on the clock as it had just had a full engine fitted from V6 STi, I have all paper work to prove donor cars milage

of 32k..... All gaskets, seals, belts and pulleys replaced too. Reciepts from garage for fitting, my car had 133k on the clock at the time of fitting. Came to £3600 for engine and labour.

The car then went back for a new TD05 18g Turbo, Apexi Power FC Hand Commander, Apexi AVC-R, Grp N Fuel Pump + Pressure Reg, 550cc Injectors and ECU Remap. All for another £3100... Which makes £4700 plus loads of other reciepts for other things totalling £6985

    Car Dyno`d @ 382bhp.....

The car it self is Red, immaculate inside out, runs like a dream and is, I think the best Scooby I have owned... Came with long MOT and Tax too....

Now, here`s the best bit, I got this Scooby RA for £2450.... So my advice is not to be scared off by milage on cars, as there are loads of Impreza`s out

there with a documented history like my one if you take the time to look and not to jump on the first nice looking one you see..... I looked at over 30 Impreza`s before jumping all over this one...................

  13. Phil, I've got a spare MAF for a pre 96 car sitting here mate. I'm up in Aiberdeen this weekend so if you want me to bring it with me we can try it and see. £20 and its yours[:D]

I'll PM you my mobile number and can prob meet you Bridge of Dee or somewhere in that area Sunday.

    Gus

A Big Thank You To Gus....  [Y]  Met up earlier today... Nice guy...  Shame about the miserable weather... [um]

  14. Just had a diagnostic done on my WRX and it came up with 2 faults.

She needs the mass airflow meter replaced and the idle control valve replaced.

Is each MAF specific to each different model of scooby? Also what kind of price am i looking at?  Finally, if anyone has a working one, fancy selling it?

Same advice needed on the idle control valve.

Need these 2 wee jobs done before I can safely put her on the Dyno Run

    Any Advice greatly recieved

  15. no, wasn`t me. i would have waved back. didnt get my WRX back untill 5pm today, was in Cartech since saturday.

there`s a few silver ones in this area. mine isnt silver, it has a pearl blue flip through it

the car had both the turbo/downpipe and up pipe gaskets replaced.  A sheered bolt rethreaded and replaced. Plus a bit of Cast Welding on the Turbo Housing Bracket where the bolts go.

She`s running and boosting 100% better than before. I didn`t realise just how much performance I had been losing. Well chuffed...  Not too bad of a Bill either.

  16. Aye, remember waving to someone, nice of you to recognise me [:P]. Was in the white Scooby cos the WRX was in at Cartech Peterhead getting its jobs sorted. Got it back now and I`m well happy with it [<;))]. So, should be in the Blue one next time you see me.

  17. Got my WRX back from having it`s jobs done. Quite Happy with the cost, but Totally Chuffed with the results. Boosting and Running 100% better. Didn`t realise just how much I had been losing.

So, my white Scooby is once again relegated to a mates driveway.

  18. I`ve got £2k I`m prepared to spend on any niggles. I bought the car with eyes wide open. Saw it`s flaws. Got the price dropped a tidy sum. I`m not afraid of buying a car that could require work, just as long as it`s reflected in the price, or at least be haggled down to a price

Got him to tax it for 6mths "after" we agreed a price for the car.  So, it`s in getting the known problems sorted and having it looked over for any further or potential ones.  But so far so good.

I`m thinking this car was once owned by a Paid Member here, it has the SIDC Sticker and an SIDC wallet on the windscreen to hold a membership card
