About rickya

  1. For all you MSOC & Southern England members: Hughberry Vehicle Services- Great customer service & prices, very friendly people. Used them for first time yesterday to fit my gauges! Found them here on SIDC through others recommendations. Will post pics of gauges soon Paul- Hughberry Vehicle Services Unit 3 The Old Quarry Springwell Lane Rickmansworth Herts, WD3 8UX Tel 01923775221 Cheers Paul!
  2. Well I shall hopefully be taking my car to them early next week to get my gauges fitted, will post up pics & inform how things went. I was going to go to Xtreme Scoobies in Essex but a bit far for me & Hughberry is just 15 mins away & cheaper.
  3. Ianc, it should tell you date of manufacture & date of import into country on V5 log book. Also check to see if registered as PLG import, maybe worth a trip to DVLA office?
  4. Sorry to rub it in but I got lucky! Road tax renewal came a few weeks ago £400 321g of CO2!!! Then last week I changed reg plate to the prvt one I had, all changed but then couldnt renew road tax as new reg kept showing up as previuos car. Had to make another trip down to DVLA to get road tax with £400 in pocket After a while looking at documents, chap at DVLA desk went off to see supervisor.....oh bu&ger I thought. Came back saying as my car was produced before July 06 it doesnt qualify for the higher tax band & that I (previous owner in fact had been paying too much road tax all along) ? This didnt sound right, but I kept quiet anyway. I think its more to do with the fact that when it was first imported into UK it was registered as PLG as DVLA wern't too bothered back then. (It was the same with my old Nissan 350z). Anyway he says he's ammended the system & now you only have to pay £210 for 12 months road tax!
  5. Mines a JDM 2.0 litre If you want some nice pics are not too far, come down to the next MSOC meet, I think we might be heading down to the same or similar destination/backdrop & one of the members (madison monkey) is a pretty good photographer & always takes some great pics
  6. My mate whos a dab hand at photography took some great pics for me yesterday. I had a location thought of, but when we drove around the back of it we found an even better backdrop. It was about 7:30pm so light was perfect, wasnt washed out with too much light & the whole place was deserted. 30 mins, 93 pics later & down to the Battle Axes for a couple of swift ones, great evening & cheers Louis for the pics. ps Battleaxes is a great pub with excellent food, garden & an extra car park always empty, maybe be an idea for next MSOC/ESC meet? Hope you lot like the pics
  7. Emailed XyberAutos (Singapore) this Tuesday about their Prosport Elec Stepper Gauges (3 gauges/all wiring/visors/3 extra warning lights/sandwich plate) inc Vat & delivery £118. Got a reply within 5 minutes & further questions replied within a few minutes. Placed order on tuesday through Paypal.................& today, Friday theyr here in perfect condition all the way from Singapore!!!!!!!! Iv bought stuff on ebay, comming from 5 miles away that takes over a week!!!!!!!!!! Just need to choose a pod & get em fitted, most probably get em done from Xtreme Scoobies in Essex.
  8. Finally got round to fixing the bung on my Blitz Nur Spec S backbox after 2 months! Drilled hole in tailpipe for bung screw fixing but as suspected there is approx 2 to 3cm gap between bung & tailpipe. As Iv read on here, others have either used exhaust wrap (wears out over time with heat) or fixed 2 bolts as spacers etc. I drilled a small hole in edge of bung & fitted a small bolt & nut to act as a kind of wedge for a tighter fit. Needed to file down head of bolt as it was a little too big for gap. A couple of washers, nut tightened hard & a permenant, discreet fix to a possible irritating rattle! This small bolt never needs to be removed & is hardly noticeable. ps Hate the dam bung though, as well as the fact car felt down on power, it lost its growl & sounded like poo Itl only be for quiet trackdays & when family are in the car on long journeys
  9. Great work & results Im still debating over the JW Racing triple dash pod or a lot cheaper & discreet, triple single din flat pod above headunit. (below heater vents)??
  10. Thanks all for comments FMJ after your comments I think your right the Oil Pressure is important & so 3 guages itl have to be. (I do want the flash factor boost gauge!! ) So if its 3 then I think it will have to be a centre pod with 3. Also I didnt realise how messy it could look without pods & also on steering column. The Prosport Stepper gauges, though not same quality as Defis still seem quite good. http://prosportgauges.com/amber_white_perf...nce_gauges.aspx "52 mm (2 1/16") Amber & Super White 270° LED Display. This one gauge can display either Amber or Super White. The 270° dial sweep provides quick, one glance accuracy. Track tested and race proven, these gauges use precision electric senders to keep hazardous fluids out of the passenger compartment. Our Amber/White series gauges are designed so that you can display one color during the day and the other color at night. All Electric Gauges perform a dramatic opening ceremony with a full pointer sweep and self check each time the vehicle is started" They can be set in either white or Amber to match existing dash gauges: I like this pod, says its Autometer, anyone know where to get in UK??
  11. Newbie on subject of gauges etc & need some advice please. Im not too keen on too many gauges & large gauges, hence I am looking for 50/52mm gauges, max of 3, ideally 2. Want boost gauge / oil temp/ & maybe oil pressure. I am thinking of 2 x 52mm single pods on centre or right hand side of dash or on A-pillar. 1)Does my Hawkeye SpecC have an oil pressure warning light on dash? If so then is it still neccesary to get an oil pressure gauge? 2)Are the A pillar pods all 60mm with inserts for 52mm or can you get smaller 52mm specefic? 3)Do these 2 or 3 A pillar pods restrict visibility around A-pillar i.e pedestrians etc at junctions? 4)Im assuming the pods themselves increase the overall size/bulk of guages which may not help visibility. -Can the gauges be mounted on A-pillar without pods to make them more discreet & less bulky. The advantage of this is also that you could space them closer together maybe, as with pods you are forced to have them a certain distnace apart? -Is there a simple bracket for this? 5)If mounting two pods above steering column on either side, above stalks, can you still see the dash clocks etc & is it easy to fix here? 6) I am thinking of getting the Prosport Stepper (Amber) Gauges from Xyber Autos. Are these gauges Electric which I assume are the better type than vacum? XyberAutos Do I need anything else to fit these? ps would love Defis or Genome but too much £££££s
