OK, these will all be online in about an hour's time (roughly midnight tonight). They are all .MOV files, so you will need Quicktime to view them (don't blame me, that's how Dibs' camera captures video [8-)] NB: All videos and photos remain the copyright of the owner. They may not be reproduced, in any manner, without the owner's prior consent (copying them to your own hard disk for personal use is permitted). Please contact Dibs if you wish to distribute or use them for commercial purposes. (before you read my response to the so called "witness" above [], please understand one thing - I'm not taking this seriously at all and I have typed all these responses with a big grin on my face []) Ian - you've just backed up what I said about it being a misunderstanding. As I said, and you (allegedly) witnessed, I didn't think it was part of the course, and so didn't drive around it for any of my remaining laps. You have to understand that I am used to doing track days where marker cones are put out to give drivers an idea of where to aim for - braking, turn-in, apex etc - so a cone that far over to the left just struck me (after the first run) as too far over to be part of the course. So, you have acted as a witness FOR the defence, not against it [] . Cheers pal. I'll buy you a beer when I see you [] Anyhoo, I still had a right laugh. Tom - I was panting at the end, because it was hard work keeping the car even remotely straight. I was wheel-spinning and shimmying (the car was sliding left and right) through 2nd, 3rd and 4th down the back straight []. As it was the first day I've ever had the car sideways (properly sideways I mean, not like that first time Tom, before you start up again []), it wasn't something I'm used to dealing with. I thought I coped rather well considering [] When's the next one? [] -

ah, you'll be another of the "also rans" then []. I would pass the bottle on to Jon (I genuinely would), but I've already drunk it []. Quite nice it was too [] It's all good fun []. Jon put in a blinding lap for his best time, so all credit to him for that. Just annoyed at myself for getting that final hairpin wrong every time. I've thought about it some more, and I honestly don't remember doing that final cone on the practice run. I only did it on the first timed run because I suddenly saw the cone and thought "argghhhh, I'm never going to make it around that []" (and you can hear me on the video as well, suddenly panicking []). I just figured that it wasn't actually part of the course. 'snot a problem really. I still had the faster car [], just the organic material behind the wheel was lacking control over his right foot out of the loose stuff on the hairpins [] I'm coming along on Friday evening, so I might bring a bottle and graciously hand it over to Jon then. Or I might just forget about the whole thing and bask in the glory of being victorious for a few days [] Actually Dibs, thinking about it, I'll take that time penalty. Ooh, maybe a 1s penalty? Still beat you [] -

[|-)] oh what a shame it is to see such a poor loser looking to everything to try and make himself a winner. 'tis a sad sight to see [] In my defence, I did try and make it for the first run, but barely got there and I simply assumed it wasn't part of the slalom and was just a marker for the "edge of the road". No, honestly, that's how I saw it at the time. I'll buy you a pint on Friday night Jon, how does that sound? [] Now write out a hundred times "I must not be such a sore loser" [] (I may, or may not, be adopting a slightly sarcastic and tongue-in-cheek attitude in this reply!) -

Couldn't agree more fella [] [] All I needed to do was nail that final hairpin correctly, and I would have made a perfect lap on run 3 I reckon [] -
No wonder young Rob, the instructor (not to be confused with "Captain Slow" Rob []), felt ill after the first run in that [] []

I know who to call if I do [] I have to say, despite the fact that I am a hater of flamer kits, your flames yesterday were most impressive [H] -
Nice pictures [Y] Shame there weren't any of me sideways though []
-
It was very loose in places. Especially at the exit of the first hairpin []. I didn't mind though [] Guys - I'll try and get Dibs' pictures and videos off him Wednesday evening and get them uploaded into here [Y]

glad you think so. Personally, I reckon my tail-happy action during the final runs was almost as bad as it was at the start of the day []. I was much better in the early afternoon - ask Dibs or AJ []. Tom (Dibs' brother) experienced my early tail-out action. It was, ahem, amusing but not very controlled [:$]

LOL [] Going to enjoy that wine, even if it was Merlot [] [] "No, if anyone orders Merlot, I'm leaving. I am NOT drinking any *censored* Merlot!" (you have to see the film Sideways to get this quote) I actually don't mind Merlot, so it was a nice surprise at the end to get that. I really thought I'd fluffed up every run and genuinely did NOT expect to win. Shame somebody had to lose, but at least it was my best mate [] @ chief-long-shin - it was yesterday, so you missed it. Sorry [] -
Rear wheel drive Nissan 200SX is why it was wheelspinning []

Fantastic day guys [H] My thanks go to this lot, in no particular order Kevin - for organising it [] Rob (from Ben Elliott Racing) - for showing me that it is possible to put my car sideways in a controllable manner [] Dibs - for inviting me along in the first place Everybody who went - for being slower than me and earning me a bottle of wine [] [] The only problem is that I really should have taken a hat or some sun-block [] Thanks again. The real shock of the day had to be Charlie in his Defender though []. Apparently, he was only a second or two slower to the first hairpin than most of us, only really losing time down the long back straight run. Charlie, sir, you are a true legend []. When's the next one [] (for reference, my 200SX is running ~330bhp @ flywheel and has uprated anti-roll bars and Nismo suspension - not coilovers, just perfectly matched dampers and springs for fast road/light track use. It was also my first day where I've put the car even slightly sideways in a controlled manner - well, some of the time anyway []. Although I hit just over 130mph down the backstraight, during the practice run, the fastest I hit during the timed runs was ~125, including the fastest run) -
Here's a link to my 4 runs in the final timed lap thingy at the end. Each vid is approx. 9MB and are in .WMV format, so probably need Media Player to work properly [] Run 1 Run 2 Run 3 - won me a bottle of wine that did [] Run 4 - check out my flailing arms technique as I lose it through the slalom section [] (I was the 200SX driver by the way [])
