In all honesty it would appear that the garage you use are not familiar with Subaru's. If the oil cooler is not the root of the problem or corse. Then the old one should be put back at there expense, after all they are the technicians with the expertise and you have paid for items that they guest were broken. I think it would not be unreasonable to expect them to be more professional and admit that they don't know what is wrong with your car and refund some of the costs.

OK I will carry out a feasibility study into the accounts of running a car for one year and submit a brake down of costs to allow people to evaluate the financial implications of running a car as a group. But just for now if you take your own car to Brands say three time a year basic costs would look something like this. Track time £149 x 3 = £447.00p Insurance £60 x 3 = £180.00p Fuel say 60lts £60 x 3 = £180.00p Oil/filters fluids £20 x 3 = £ 60.00p Tyre wear £100 x 3 = £300.00p Sub total £1167.00p If we done six trackdays of 5 people working on Dean cost we would be looking at £ 504.00 x 6 = £3024.00p In addition to this add 3 drivers(Dean has allowed for 1 more) @ £35 = £105 x 6= £ 630.00p Insurance say an extra £60 x 6= £ 360.00p Extra fuel say 100lts overall £ 100.00p Sub total £4114.00p Making a cost of £414.00p for three trackdays I make that around about £750.00 cheaper. This is a cost for cost comparison and no allowance for wear and tear and I do think Deans cost's are well considered.

"Would the car become a Kent pinned thread." The above point is valued and not something I have considered and would need to be given careful thought. With regards who (Hugh) does what, all regular maintenance would be done on a workparty day ie each person has to do say 2 half days a year, oil change, filters etc. More technical things could be contracted out say to Dean and major items such as engine rebuilds might go to RCM. I wouldn't expect (want) all ten members turning up at the same trackday so a rota allowing everybody the same car time would be draw up. With regards people finding money for that unexpected bill I would factor in £500 per year, paid at the beginning of the season, giving a £5000 working fund. A clear contract of all expectations would be drawn up so that there would be no misunderstandings. I have been in these kind of groups before and there are no problems when the conditions are all laid out. If the car becomes a right off we use the insurance to rebuild or split the money. Think forward move forward

Injectors, turbo, headers and up-pipe? Well done Ad, all under a tarpaulin

No Boost but Boy WHAT BRAKES
-
No! £500 x 10 =£5000 £5000 x 10 = £50000 We could almost buy Skullfudges car with that.
-
Yes it would be ideal if 2/3 people were to buy the car but it would not be available to the members of the club how couldn't raise £3333.00 Of course things will go wrong hence the £5000 a year running costs.
-
Lets hope so Granby
-
Thats a good point Col_2 but I think that you only get a few laps and its not really like owning part of a track car. I think Granby has done a couple of these days and he knows a lot more about it than me. As you point out 10 track days would amount to £1000 but thats your money gone. With Deans car you would still have the equity and it would be Insured for "Total Loss". I would factor in £500 per person a year for Insurance/maintance and track fees. Just sounds affordable motor sport to me. Yogi I think your quote, "This Idea is madness" is a bit harsh.
-
Yup to late Granby. You'll need to be a bit faster Sunday.

I had considered that aspect of it Steve and I'm sure that the rev limiter could be lowered to protect everyones investment. As each persons driving skill advanced so to could the Rev's just as in Formula Ford. As you pointed out it would have to be a group that had a common interest and where not buying in just to thrash the nuts off the car. Cars can be driven very fast without being on the rev limit all the time. It would seem silly to invest a £1000 just to smash it, not in anyones interest.
-
I just need to assess the interest before having talks with Dean and working out a serious plan as to the best way forward. Talks with Insurance, maintenance costs, drawing up an agreement that has everyones interest at heart and the fine print. On the plus side your get to drive a track car with only a 10th of the cost and you can always sell your share back, with say a three month notice to the other owners. You also don't knock the legs out of the every day wheels. Lets face it it's a rare opportunity to own a car like Deans and he's done all the hard bit. THINK ABOUT IT.
-
I have a friend who bought into a sailing boat with a similar scheme and as people decided to opt out he bought there share and now he owns the whole boat. But it can work well if people are interested.
-
Baser you already have the 999 now you just need one more
-
With a grand to spare to purchase as share in Deans car. Just toying with the idea of a group ownership of the car as a complete package. Would make for an interesting trackday, one car ten drivers. So if enough are up for it we could look into it more seriously. I can supply storage facility's.
