  1. Thanks for the replies, To give an update, the boss (Wife) spoke to the main man who is in charge of the guy that stopped me and asked if they could recheck them, as they were fitted by the manufacturer at new. He said no, as they only had one machine in the whole area? He said he will have a word with the PC and as long as I can get a MOT tester to say they are okay it would be fine. Yeah like I am going find a MOT tester with a machine? Any ideas????????? Subaru wont help (Yep CSTER []that was TILEY OF BRISTOL) [:@] I know it seems I have broken the Law as ALLENJ has mentioned, However Im inconnect till proven guilty, and if im guilty so are Subaru. If I had done it and had fitted it aftermarket fair cop guv. but i didnt and its the principle of it.
  2. Nope no one famous. Im the second owner, and it was the first owner who had it done. It just that its a pain the bum. Subaru fitted it as an optional extra, and they way they just washed there hands of it has got to me? Did I mention it was Tiley of Bristol? And the fact we are talking about a load of hassle for a difference of 4.5% tint.
  3. Any Suggestions? Hi All, Got pulled the other morning, 8.45am rush hour M5 W-S-M junction with the major crime that my front windows were a tad too dark. Obvioulsy a very very important issue as they found it necessary to stop me at the most stupid time and place ever. Not that im peeeeed off that is. Anyway to business. They thought my windows looked too dark, get there little test machine out and they have a 35.5% tint. Explained to me windows need to let in at least 70% so they were illegal. Okey dokey I said, but these were fitted by a Subaru Main Dealer at the time of purchase as an optional extra I said. Well you better get them changed he said. At whcih point it was remarked that he was quite within his rights to give me 3 penalty points and if it was much lower he could have confisecated the car. Obvioulsy taking no notice of my two kids one picking her nose the other about to poop herslef as she was scared the police were going to take daddy away. In the end he asked for my work address, and stated he would be round within two weeks to check I had them rectified. No problem I though I will ring Subaru, they can sort it. Rang Subaru (Subaru Bristol) (Just thought I would advert them due to them being crap) Nope you can go forth and mutiply we fitted them correctly at the time and the law must have changed. Rang police, has the law changed? Nope it hasnt, Will you ring Subaru for me then, Nope why not ring Trading Standards? Rang Subaru head office, can you help? Nope Franchised dealer if they said no we cant get involved? Rang police can I have longer than a fortnight? Nope its a dangerous car your wife would never forgive you???????????? Ehh its her car anyway? Spoke to some head bod, at police. Finally a nice enough bloke, Yep the machines can be out, why not get it rechecked? Any ideas? Or anyone know where I can get it checked in Bristol ish area?
  4. Greetings All, Had the beast a week now, lurveely![] To be honest when I bought the car didnt think about the stereo, to busy listing to the sooooper doooper exhaust and the engine. Anyway down to business, put a CD in today, think it needs a bit of an upgrade to be polite. Any sugestions? Not going to go over the top, (£250-£300 ish) presume I can get an adapter to turn it into a single din unit or do you reckon go for another double din? Keep on rocking! Plum[Y]
  5. Hi All, Thanks for the tip, picked up the monster couple of days ago. V - Power it is then! Luckly the Shell garage was only around the corner. [] Since learnt the car has a wastegate thing? Presume thats something similar to a dump valve, still going to the my usual garage to get it all checked out anyway. Off for another drive, if my misses hasnt nicked the keys again that is.[:'(]
  6. Hi All, Probably been asked a thousand times before, sorry im a newbie. Hopefully picking up the new beast end of week a UK Spec WRX STI (2003) its had a few mods, straight through exhaust, induction kit and upgraded ECU (Apparently Gems?) have seen an old printout with 347bhp on a rolling road. Any advice on what sort of petrol to use? My brother in law has an EVO Tommi Mak and uses nothing else but BP Optimax as its a higher rated fuel, seen a few other garages do there own sort of equivalient do you reckon thats okay? or should i just stick to BP? and will it really hurt to use normal unleaded every so often as its a UK Car? Plus when taking my foot of the accelerator it makes a hell of a noise like a grunty, grateing noise (i know its a dumb question as u cant hear it on the net) the dealer reckons its from the induction kit which has replaced the standard air box surely that would make a sucky noise (oooerrr) however it is defo from that area of the car, any ideas?
