  1. OK, first time I tried to share this I put it on PhotoBucket, but none too successful. Noticed YouTube seems to be the place folks upload videos to (duh...why didn't I spot that before), so here's with the second attampt: ElCheapo camera sound lets things down a little, but some decent action...
  2. A great day - thanks again for organising it John. Ran a dozen or so laps with a cheapo bullet cam on the Tuscan on the restart after thge last red flag stoppage. The footage includes a few Scoobs, Elises, Exige(s), Evo, Clio, Seat and a few others. Best I could compress it down to is 25MB....yup 25MB...so this will NOT be an instant download. The sound wasn't great to start with - too much wind noise - and the compression's made it worse. Whatever happened to all the pops and bangs? But I did manage to get sight of a fair few cars on track...including a wee Evo moment, and an Elise? doing a bit of grass cutting. First time I've tried to link to a video so we'll have to see how it works http://s155.photobucket.com/albums/s313/tv...HSIDC090808.flv Edited: OK, looks like Photobucket has converted the avi to a 'flv' - whatever that is, and is cutting the video short Might try to upload it somewhere else where it remains the original avi...
  3. Nothing so sinister - it's just for a little extra cooling. Every little helps! The Tuscan racers use the body mouldings from the never-built road car previewed at the 1988 motor show, with very few changes. The bonnet mould has never really been changed so still has the 'cut out' where the plate 'should' be mounted, so that's where I put mine. But the race cars obviously all run without plates and use that space as an additional air intake. I was getting overheating problems and rather than going straight to a stick-on plate and leaving the intake fully open, I came up with the 'ventilated plate'. In conjunction with a second radiator fan that pretty much knocked the water temperature problems on the head. Oil temp has been harder to fix - I think I've maybe only just cracked it now with two 16-row coolers, ducts, and 2 cooling fans on the oil coolers.
  4. ..but turned out fine for driving in the end. Exorcised a few demons yesterday; I’d always wimped out of previous wet/damp sessions so I’m real pleased that the car kept pointing the right way on just the (treaded) road tyres! Guess that’s me out in all weathers now - I’ve finally got over my wet weather phobia at KH! Another good session John. Thanks for organising it.
  5. Intruder alert! Hi folks, been a while - more than 2 years building the car (not a Scooby). I used to be a SIDC track day regular with a Cerb and Megablade (even joined the SIDC!) until I bought a shed Anyway, after 2 years the tvrolet is ready for its first outing again. Not complete (no interior, trim, electrics etc), but with a working engine, transmission, brakes and steering it's enough to get back out again. Anyway, on a serious note. This will be the purple monster's very first outing after the build, so while I've checked it and checked it for things that might break/fall off/leak/go on fire etc., you never know what can happen on a first outing so it might be an idea to give it a bit of a wide berth at first. I will, of course, be doing the right thing and letting the faster folks through without hesitation, but on a new transmission too there's the chance of a few crunchy/missed gear changes, plus it'll be running in on limited revs/throttle. Should still be a reasonable pace even at that, but it might be an idea to give it a bit of room just in case it (or I) mess up. See you at KH. It's been a long time....
