Since I picked up my 02 WRX last week, everyone who I have honoured with a ride in it has said "You need a pump valve on this" , My question is 'WHY?' what does it actually do apart from making a whoosh noise? I recall when I had a Cosworth Sierra many moons ago that it had one fitted on it, and my mate who was a bit of a whizz kid took it off and re piped the gases though the wastegate and that made an awsome chatter but as far as the dump valve goes I dont see the point, Dont get me wrong Im not slagging them, I mean if it is just for the whoosh sound then fair enough but I just wondered if they served any usefull prupose

I have been involved in this from the sidelines and reallty cant give too much detail away but I can tell you that the incident is what Traffic Officers call a TFF crash and I am sure you can guess what that means, I can tell you that it seems that he left the road at apporx 90mph and hit a tree head on, the impact removed the floor pan from the car and it took 2 hrs to release the bodies and recover the rear seat passenger, who was the 17 year old, unfortunatly the 14 year old in the front seat was his brother! The driver was the boys mothers boyfriend and it seems as this time as if he was just showing off. PLEASE DO NOT SHOW OFF as this is the result, a waste of 2 young lives and possibly 3 as the 17 year old is in a bad way. Scoobys as I sure you all know need some respect as they can bite you fkin hard if they let go, at the end of the day you shouldnt be driving them that hard on the Public road that there is even the slightest chance that they let go, save it for the track people and take care out there.
