yeh man the crank seal is a common thing on scoobs....cant say ive heard of the blocked breather thing b4...then again i aint no sanner monkey ......if you can the the timing belt case off without taking the belts of..you will know for sure if it the front crank seal
............dont rule out your rocker cover (thant youve already done) you wont be the firts person not to get it seald properly...worth checking
-
sounds like cam seal mate,,or it could be a rocker cover,,,the smoke will be a small bit of oil getting onto you manifold then burning off....
put a bit cardboard/ paper under your car tonight then check it in the morning,,this should point you to the problem part/tell you where the leak is......if it is the cam seal you might aswell put a new timeing belt kit on aswell...
bit slow
-
judge for yourselfs guys
right let me try and understand this my cars emissions are too high which i reckon if i do the over due service bit of additive it will go through but this with the cat, on my failure sheet it doesnt say anything about the cat just exhaust being to loud so if i fit a nice new quieter back box im on to a winner??
neil
ps the problem really have is the wee guy who usually does my mot was not there and the boss done it!
Neil, youve got a 93 wrx yeh (or there abouts)...you dont need a cat ...imports car upto, am sure its 1996 dont need them
-
she look very clean....man i feel sick looking at those pics...i miss my old RA so much
.....enjoy her
-
Maybe it's due to the fact i'm used to my bugeye waking the dead when driving it.
-
thats some car you got yaself there chris....that vid is crazy, sounds like a AK47 going of as you leave the line
-
Yeah it does fly through the gears.
Can anyone recommend a reasonably price back box as the jap-box that's on is a bit quiet for me.
cant go wrong with theses guys ..sounds lush with a full decat
...i thought there jap back box was ral good,,alot better/ louder the the HKS supper drager i had
-
Cheers for all the comments Guys can't wait to pick her up tomorrow.
Regarding the Zero sport ECU and CEL ,phoned the guy today and the car has run fine with this Ecu for the last 5k on 99 ron fuel (since bottom end was done)and the CEL light was due to 2 wires (black/red) being joined together under the steering column(must be wires instead of connectors for checking fault codes) so the guy seperated the wires and the CEL lights goes of once car is started.
Spoke to someone at Wallaceperformance this morning and car going on the rollers next wednesday -should be interesting.
shes the same age as my old RA and looks very tidy
...you should have 2 black connectors under you stearing colum to check the ecu fault codes (plus 2 green connectors)..this is so you can do it yourself and not waist money getting it done at a tuners/dealers...its abit fiddly the first time as thay can be stuck right up under the dash.....
if shes got loads of mods, send her to MR FORREST and get a stand alone apexi ecu..not cheep but better than a rebuild....<<<<not saying thats going to happen..maybe abit to strong of a word (sorry) but these crazy jap ecus have scary maps (like johnny said)....i would run Vpower + booster..am sure wallace will get ya sorted
if shes not got alot of mods the ecu your after is a Z5 (standard 1)
head over hear mate,,,,great bunch of guys/girls thay will keep you right...(few people from hear are on it aswell)
-

am sorta doing it now, ive got a mk2 golf gti 1989 plate
...its got wee bits of rust hear and there (it is lighter than carbon fiber though
), ive just put a new subfram,ARB,droplinks, front&back bumper, underseald ect ect ect, next is 2 front wings ,2doors,1 bootlid,1 bonnet, then spayed in flatblack rattle cans
old skool dont you just love it
,,,5 more years and no more road tax
......she will never be worth a mint, but the way the market is going shes worth more than some scoobs
......if i had somewhere to keep her she would get a full stripdown& rebuild but thats not going to happen ,,
would i restore a subaru? yeh for sure i would ..but i would rather restore a mk1/2 golf /camper/mk2 escort/ mk1 astra/cav turbo.. and keep the subaru for modding/ belting it about knockers,,,i dont know why i would pick those cars ,maybe because thats the cars i grew up with and have a soft spot for. and i dont see subarus as old cars yet (even though some are)...
give it time and am sure there will be a Scottish Classic Subaru Owners Classic Club (SCSOCC)
-
GT is it a classic youve got?
if so you can check/reset the codes yourself
-
props for stopping and helping the guy out. meny people would of just carried on
......
i remember helping some1 out a couple of year ago that rolled his car into the woods on the A702 just out side bigger...i just cought his tailights out the corner of my eye as i went past. (car upside down)..i slamed on the brakes and jumped out (superman mode on lol) ran back..luckly the young lad was just crawling out the car with some cuts and white as a sheet....he could not have thanked me anuff for stoping and helping him out as 4 or 5 cars past the crash and never bother to stop (saying that thay might not have seen him
).... other road users did stop but that was for the sheer fact i slammed on the brakes and jummped out my van
-
Frank you could always get some gromets for the holes on the underside of the sill (you wont see them)...
and for the holes on the face of the sills. you could get a bit of colour coded vinyl and run it along the full face of the sill (or cut out small circles and place them over the holes) then lay a graphic on top (www.AFP.co.uk ect ect ).. THIS WAY YOU ALWAYS HAVE THE OPTION OF STICKING THEM BACK ON
... plus the vinyl will stop ya sill from getting stones chipped
ive seen colour coded vinyl being used to cover spoiler holes (wingless scoobs) + ive used it when i removed the rear wiper of ma Golf
.. you cant even see it unless you get up close and whos going to be staring at ya sills anyway
catcha
oh have a good xmas and new year when it comes big man
-
i got done a few month ago ,,shell at quennsferry road (card cloned at the hole in the wall)
