  2. I am wanting some advise on Induction kits. I have fitted a few in the past to my MR2 and 205Gti's and thought I would put one on my 2003WRX along with de-cating the exhaust,,, basicly I need more power!! hehe I saw a Induction kit on ebay for a very reasonable price and it looked good,,,, ( i know i should no better!) when it arrived it looked very nice,, all shiny pipe and cone filter with blue rubber to link it together, but on fitting, the bracket to secure it in place did not line up anywhere!!!,, the holes to sqrew the temp sensor in did not line up so only one sqrew would hold it in,,, and after fumbleing around to fit it as best I could, on starting the car would not run!!!!! well it started and struggled to tick over, but would defenetly not move under its own power.,,,,,,, so its going back and I want to pay proper money for one so advice please,,, whch Induction kit should I get???? and what shall I do about the exhaust?? de-cat it or buy a full system????? what power increase's can I expect?? Thanks in advance! Dave
  3. I posted on here a couple of weeks ago asking if anyone had any issues with the bonnit catch failing on them,,, i had noticed the bonnit likes to raise up about 10mm from the edges at speed and was worried about the stress on the catch well to temp fate my bonnit did release on a track ;-) on monday while doing 120MPH,, it only lifted to the 2nd release catch thank god and I managed to stop safly,,, I thought this was down to my brother in law checking the engine out a couple of days prior and did not close it fully,,, but I cant recreate the same problem! I have been trying to close it fully and pull it open again by hand,,, but its really solid so I am wondering if it was shut right and it just failed??? anyone else had any problems in the last two weeks since my original post??? I am woried about doing high speeds in the car now and its robbing from my enjoyment of the car. p.s. raced a 2003 Golf GT TDi tonight and killed it!!! lol,,,, what was he thinking....
  4. I have been thinking of going to a track meet with my WRX to watch others race them round the track, but looking around different forums I allways come across posts of people having there cars stolen from the car park!!! I have the normal Subaru immobaliser fitted, and the RAC Trackstar,,, but it seems most people do,,, has anyone had any experiance of this???? I am really put off going thinking that virmin are hideing in the bushs ready to pounce,,,and how are they getting around the security devises?????
  5. I will probably look stupid asking this, but I am away from home and dont have my owners manual with me to look it up,, but there is a switch on the top of steering wheel surround that I have no idea what it does!! the picture on it looks like a light and then you flick it forward and a red square apperears, but that all it seems to do,, i have played with it with lights off and on and listened for things moving and I have no clue what it is for and its annoying me now!!! PLEASE HELP ME REST MY SMALL MIND!
  6. quote for LITTLE H you say not long about 8 - 10k,,,,, I am more than happy at that,,, i was expecting around 5k, thats what I get on my Motorbike (R1) and if i can double that, its a big bonus, means at least 6months motoring it hard.
  7. I am putting my first set of Tyres on the Scooby tomorrow since buying it two weeks ago,, should have noticed they were so worn when I bought it but missed that one as I fell in love with the car! anyway, fitting Pirelli P ZeroNero's to it and was wondering how long they should last on average, I do drive it pretty hard from time to time and know that will affect it,,, but whats the ball park figure????
  8. you all gone quite for a change?? no one knows then i guess!!!
  9. I did not look at any deals when i set it up,, i get 1000mins on my mobile phone anyway that dies me fine,, so i just rang BT broadband and said I need a phone line and Broadband in my house,,, I provided my own wireless router and they just switched me on for the handsome sum of £32 per month including the VAT for my phone and internet.,, i make about 30pence of calls a month on the house phone, so my bill is £32.30 a month for it all,, and you can view the bill online at bt.com,,,, it all works very nice for me..... like i say,, with BT you know your not with a micky mouse company and there worth the little extra
  10. where did you get the front splitter from??? and can I ask how much££??? i have a compleatly out of the box 2003 wrx and am ot wanting to start doing some style and performance mods,,,, and the splitter looks the biz
  11. I went with BT,, there the name you know and trust,, not the cheapest i guess,, but I got 8mb broadband,, if I move house my contract moves with me,, and lets be honest,, BT do phones and stuff,, when you want it done right just go see the big boys!! if its good enough for the Queen its good enough for me. just look how many tech guys they have on the streets and phones,, and they do everything for you!! not some cheapo company that has guys in india trying to tell you it will be set up in a week,, then asks you if you are Mr Husain??? o dear i have wrong name,,,,,,,, you know the story.
  12. I just bought my WRX a couple of weeks ago so dont know as much as people on here,, but I have so far found it very easy to live with day to day,, mine is a 2003 and to be fair driving it under 3000rpm about town is like driveing my 2003 vectra i had!!! but with the bonus if you dont change up a gear at 3k it takes off like a rocket ship and had the traction to carry on round the corner at what ever speed you tell it too serviceing is every 7500miles,, prices are from £180 for a minor service upto £380 for a major service,, most been minor,, so i would say every 6months if you drive it a bit,, cam belt is in the major service at arund 60k i think???, tyres you need to put good stuff on so budget for around £100 a corner and been 4WD i would recomend 4 per change. my car gives me a mental hard on every time a start the engine,, they make such a nice little rumbleing sound,, and if you want to mod it or have fun,, they will keep with most things on the road,, so you never feel sub standard driveing it.,,, only down side i can say is they are a little cheap inside,, i love my mercs,,, but the scooby is not trying to be anything than a full on attitude race machine that manages well in day to day living as a big bonus.. GO BUY ONE!!!! YOU WILL THANK YOURSELF...]" src="/emoticons/emotion-2.gif">
  13. I need some info,,,, I have been looking at performance figures for my 2003 WRX and get different results from differens sources, I looked on subaru's web site and found 144mph and 5.9 sec 0-60,,, in a magizine i have on most cars availible 6monts ago it said 146mph and 0-60 in 5.6 secs.... I myself have had the car upto 156mph indicated on a track ]" src="/emoticons/emotion-5.gif"> and times 0-60 with a stopwatch very poorly with a bad start and two people with full tank of fuel at 5.9secs. I realise things like tyre tread, headwind/crosswind/tailwind,,,, slope,, surface can make a difference on figures,,, but does anyone have any more accurate figures what these cars can do,, or is it all just an approximate??
  14. Hi not happened as yet but i was doing a reasonable mph in my 2003 WRX today on the M5 (yes i know thats naughty!) and i could see the sides of the bonnet had lifted up,,, not a massive amount, maybe 10mm,, but my thought was, with these big air scoops on there,,, what speed rating are the bonnet catchs actuly rated for??? has anyone had any experiance them failing???? I know I should not drive at thouse kinds of speeds on the road,, but even track days where its legal it would not be pretty if it failed!!!
  15. I AM IN NEED of a set of new tyres for my 2003 WRX, i went down to see a mate at a tyre dealer i wont mention in case he gets in trouble but he said the Brigestone tyres that are top spec reatil for £660 but he will do them me for £370 cash pound notes for the set of 4 and tracking and balanceing. do you guys recon this is fair, or can i do better????
  16. I HAVE A 2003 WRX AND TS COMPLEATLY STANDARD AT 225BHP, I WAS TALKING TO ONE OF THE DEALERS WHEN I BOUGHT IT AND HE SAID SOMTHING ABOUT BEEN ABLE TO FLICK A SWITCH OR SOMETHING TO GET IT UP TO 265BHP WITHOUT ANY REAL MODS??? ANYONE KNOW WHAT HES TALKING ABOUT AND IF SO IS IT THE SORT OF JOB I CAN DO MYSELF???
  17. Yo,, just a quick thought,, i used to live in Orlando and out there on thursday nights the city centre was littered with hundreds of bikes,, gsxr's and all the good stuff,,,,friday was car night,, pretty much like fast and ferious,, was awesome to go downtown and see all the traffic light grand prix's and max'd cars and girls in skimpy little outfits!!! how come nothing like that goes on up here????? i am proposing we organise some night and streets where people can meet up to check out the rides and mods. whats peoples take???????????????
  18. seems to be when i am at a standstill,,, never find the need to put it into first while still rolling.
  19. I have had my 2003 WRX for a massive 4 days now, and I have noticed that a few times a day when I go to put it in 1st gear there can be a slight ---- well not crunch,, but like its flicking a few gear teeth on the way in,, does not kick back at me at all or sound nasty,, but i do hear and feel a few gear teeth,,, as i say it only happens now and again going into first. does anyone else suffer with this??? the car is under warentee but I did not want to go moaning about every little thing,, after all it is 3years old.,, but gearbox could be expencive.
  20. Thanks for the warm welcome and the advice,,,, think you right on drive for a while and get used to the car,,,,,i did fit a de-cat pipe and induction kit to my MR2 and it made a massive difference to it,, so think i will be looking at the cat and air supply for it in a few weeks time once i have got info from supplyers/fitters on it. brakes are a good!!!!!! very good idea too!!!! I did notice they got a loiitle spongy last night after not too much tooling it on b roads,, so if i want to go for a track day there just not going to do the job. p.s. do any of you guys go down to track days at donnigton park???? i see theres on this sunday and I was going to pop along for a look at what people are running. Dave
