  1. cheers guys as you all say just glad still got the motor would have been even more gutted to have found it burnt out or on police camera action with some t**t behind the wheel.

did see that news article as one of my mates pointed it out - made me wonder if it could have been the same bunch.

like the camera and pc idea though goin to look into that bit more as there is no street cctv etc round my way.

    cheers

  2. Woke up this morning to a call from Lothian and Borders police telling me some dirty low life tried to steal my car while i was staying at the girlfriends parents last night. Anyway got up and back to the flat to find the wiring and alarm box all ripped out from under the dash. on quick glance wiring looks in one peace and car starts so no faults with immobiliser but they managed to make off with the Apexi S-AFC II which was mounted on the dash and have left a few dents in the drivers door which i think is from them kneeling against it while prising the window back so they could use something to open the car.

later found out my beloved scoob was not the only one last night to get targeted as another not far from me had its window smashed and contents removed

Im so mad, just wished i had been at the flat to catch the dirty c***s cant believe the inconsiderate b*****s probably sittin smug after selling everything of for his next hit of crack!!!

Any one know where i could get this recond at decent price or anyone thats got a second hand one in good nick for sale. dont really want to have to go down route of forking out on new turbo.

Turbo is a VF28 roller bearing. fitted to a 99 v5 wrx sti.

  5. Hi guys

experiencing a little gearbox leak, so took the gearbox out earlier this evening and noticed a small triangle shaped hole underneath the shaft. just wondering if this is ment to be here? if not this will be most prob the cause of the problem. Just never noticed this before on the gearbox and looks too perfect to be a crack in the casing.

any help appreciated. pic below for reference.

  6. Hi guys looking for some help if possible please.

Cars turning over and getting spark etc, but found out that its not pumpin fuel through to the engine. Just wondering if theres a fuel relay/fuse that i can check? is it possible that the pump has just packed in or there some other reason/common fault that i may overlook?

if someone could point me in the direction of fuel relay/fuse so i can check this first that be great. Scoobs a 99 V5 wrx sti - import

    Thanks

    Stuart

  8. Hi Guys

Some of you may have seen the post I stuck up couple weeks ago regarding my big end bearings packing in.

on closer look we found out that it was in fact big ends no1 and 4 that had basically disintegrated. further inspection found that car was running closed deck block with forged pistons, conrods and crank. which i was surprised about

anyways crank and conrods aswell as bearings wer buggerd and iv bought all replacement parts needed to put back on the road BUT...... had the block away for to be skimmed and honed out only for them to break one of the nozzles that spray piston with oil, anyone know where i can purchase or source these as tried nobles and checked a few sites online with no luck so far.

    any help appreciated

    Cheers

  9. Had a blether once with your old man and was lead to believe that the car had been mapped and possibly ran a slightly bigger turbo. Has it been de-tuned since or always been standard spec ?.

I take it the figures in your signature are just with an exhaust ?

    hows it goin Frank

Yeh sorry ment to mention car had a remap when exhaust was fitted but this was by previous owner - figures below are just with exhaust

turbo is a VF28 ball bearing turbo, which i believe is standard for my car - maybe wrong tho, i will need to sort the old man out he must of been smoking crack on the day you spoke to him

    Cheers

  10. The rear passenger cylinder as you look in the engine bay then?

I could almost say for cartain that the big end would have been damaged due to det', it is very, very common on the Import cars even running on V-Power you still need to run a good octane booster or better still get the car mapped.

Is the intake filter standard too?

    Cheers Iain

    yep thats the one.

filters standard yeh - no engine mods apart from exhaust.

cheers for the help guys, much appreciated

  11. I would get a new crank fitted mate instead of getting the old one reground also has your car been mapped to run on UK fuel?

    Which big end went #3?

    Cheers Iain

#4 packed in, cool i will price a new crank also.

never been mapped for uk fuel always run on vpower and motul oil. cars pretty much standard apart from full magnex exhaust system.

never had any problems previously apart from a MAF sensor packing in just after buying the motor 3-4yr ago.

  12. you done this kind of job b4 ???

not me personally but my old mans a mechanic so will have him at hand when doing the repair

stripped engine down today and as expected one of the big end bearings has packed in. going to replace oil pump, get the crank re-ground, new rings and filter as well as a new set of bearings. should i look out for anything else that might need replacing or should that be ok.

anyone got any recommendations for cheap parts, been surfing the web for a bit but might have overlooked good suppliers?

    cheers

  13. Any one replaced big end bearings before?

mines have just packed in so looking for best prices and dealers to get parts from.

also whats involved in replacing these - anyone got any tips, tricks or anything that i should look out for when doing this??

    Cheers

  14. No Induction kit but I have been using a K&N panel filter which I see does not get good reviews so I have ordered a Green Panel filter.

I will give Auldy first chance at buying it but if he does not want it I will take it off you.

cheers for letting me have 1st chance mate, but you can have that one as my dad managed to get hold of one for me over the wknd

  15. Hi guys.

just wondering if anyone knows of where i can get a reasonably priced MAF sensor as mines has jus packed.

also how do you reset the ecu once the new MAF is fitted??

cars a 99 v5 sti import if that makes any difrence

    cheers
