z1000 Posted June 8, 2007 Posted June 8, 2007 If its just for a bit of fun then a type r would be great especially in white [] but with a 22b you can always say you've owned one even if you kept it 6 months or a year can't see it losing much as they'll only get rarer and higher up the miles so if you could find a good one and could afford it i'd say go for it but use it for what it's intended, do a trackday or 2 don't just polish it. Thats why i got my M3 evo just to add to the list and was never that happy but now i've just got a 95 STI and i friggin luv it [][:$]
Adam Kindness Posted June 9, 2007 Posted June 9, 2007 If we (fee and I ) got a 22B i think it would sit in the garage most of the time, and be used as a weekend car in the summer I would still like one but the new house and skyline are a bit money hungry at the moment. If fee fancies fundign a treat i'll not complain though **** it... Fee - If you get a bonus of any decent size you know what to do. PS... they have the same IHI turbo (as STi IV TypeR) as far as i know, not smaller.

glen_cadwallader Posted June 9, 2007 Posted June 9, 2007 Remeber guys there are only 16 genuine UK 22b's The rest are Imports. I know, I tried to buy one earlier this year, you will pay mega money for a UK car if you can get one, which I couldnt. With only 16 of them sold in UK by dealers, its nigh on impossible, owners of those are laughing all the way to the bank. Imports are much cheaper 15-18k.
exvaux Posted June 10, 2007 Posted June 10, 2007 And colin mcrash owns one and he loves his so that says somethin!

There's only 12 Type UK's left now, the press wrecked one at it's UK launch.Other 3 have met their demise, don't know how but someone will???? Colin McRaes is a Jap spec with number 000 of which there were 3 given out, others to Nicky Grist who sold his & I believe is now in a private collection in Ireland. David Lapworth who was boss at Prodrive got the 3rd. In total there were 424 22B's made. Hope this helps you guys in your quest. Del
twentytwobee Posted June 12, 2007 Posted June 12, 2007 I was mentioned earlier on in this thread regarding the 22B I own. I have had several cars in the last few years including an Escort Cosworth, M3, Z3M Coupe and an RS4 so I feel qualified to comment on the car. However, It's my first Subaru so I cannot compare it to other models like you guys. The 22B offers a huge amount of power and handling for the money. I am sure that a good type R would be not far of the mark but I guess that is like comparing an Enzo with a Veyron if you know what I mean. Most people in reality are not going to tell much difference as they will be unlikely to explore the limits. Using a 22B for everyday is fairly difficult and you will get sick of it. The gearbox is ok but a bit of a pain if you are in a traffic jam. Obviously they use a lot of fuel and they are very soft when it comes to parking dings. All the obvious stuff you would expect from a proper sport car. On the open roads of Scotland in any condition they are unstoppable. The only limitation of the car seems to be the grip does run away very quickly when it reaches its limit. Some cars drift, the 22B does something else! Cheers Nigel
exvaux Posted June 15, 2007 Posted June 15, 2007 its based on the type R just with better suspension and a wider body and the 2.2 engine,oh and they do somethin else on the limit as well [:'(] need to be really on your toes when they snap
