V Power versus Super Unleaded

if yours is a jdm import its mapped for a higher grade of petrol than the 95 ron unleaded stuff we get here, v-power is 99 ron a little better for your car but still not 100% safe unless you map it for a lower grade of petrol like the 95 stuff

What year of WRX is it and where was it imported from.....

If its a newage from Japan then it is mapped for 100ron fuel and as such you would be best to get it re-mapped asap... if its a classic that was pre 96ish then it would be mapped for 95 as it wasn't until after this time they had their 100 ron as standard...... don't take all of the above as gospel but have a read about....

Plus, is V-Power not 98 ron ?

V-power is 98ron and Ultimate is 97ron, your bang on Chris, can't help with the rest as I have no experience of this but go with the comment to have it properly checked out. Can the people / person you bought it from not help you?

Just as an add on, after posting about Vpower vs Ultimate I have now switched to using BP Ultimate all the time and the car has no issues at all. Can't tell any difference other than seems to be doing slightly better milage. Well happy as was using a gallon of vpower just to go to the garage and back (no garage local for Kintore).

Any more ideas if it's possible that i could run my 95 STI import on 95 ron fuel ?

Not that i would but going up north this weekend and might have to make do with anything [;)]

Absolutley not mate, you want at the very least to be running it on optimax 98ron.

Ideally you want to add 1 bottle of millers octane boost to every tank.

If your really stuck you can use normal unleaded and stick two bottles of millers in the tank.

Steve,

I can't find the details i have prevoiusly read about the Japanese fuel not being 100 ron until later years so don't want to recommend it, maybe i'm going mental....

To be on the safe side think the SUL / V-Power + Octane Booster seems the safest bet........

Already got some pro boost in the boot but going to get a couple extra tins and some new wipers in the morning before i go.

I would never run it on 95 even if i could as i use super in the bike also and it would be fine on weak petrol but makes a noticable difference [;)]
