RA Dunk Posted June 2, 2007 Posted June 2, 2007 looking for a wee bit of advice peeps, car started coughing and spluttering today under acceleration quite badly, thought i felt it a few days ago but it was so little it was hardly recognisable, well today it was definatly doing it and very noticable, any idea what it might be coil packs perhaps? saw a thread like this with a similar problem a few months ago but a search didnt come up with it, think i remember something about a valve or something needing cleaned out? and just to top it off the daft auld bat fae next door used my rear bumper as a brake today [6] not the best of days []

RA Dunk Posted June 2, 2007 Author Posted June 2, 2007 cheers m8 dunno wot to try first TBH, pink and green dont match though [] was hoping some of the guys with loads of "know how" will reply []
james666 Posted June 2, 2007 Posted June 2, 2007 no ideas on rough running, but pitty bout the car getting used as a brake!! not so good!!!!!!!! as long as she is going to pay to fix it
euan_r Posted June 2, 2007 Posted June 2, 2007 theres the boost solenoid mounted on the drivers suspension tower u could try cleaning out with some aresol cleaner. think andyf suggested narrowing spark plug gap down to 0.6 if a coil pack was suspected.
stewart_lusby Posted June 2, 2007 Posted June 2, 2007 I had the same problem with my96 sti import and changed the maf sensor and it was as good as gold after that. depending on what one you a have i have a spare. unfortunate it does not fit my leggy. Hope you get the car sorted bud.
RA Dunk Posted June 3, 2007 Author Posted June 3, 2007 gave it run tonight and brought it up to temp and gave it a good run, seemed fine, must only be happening when its cold then [:S]

How would you feel Neil if your wife or another female in your family was unlucky enough to have a wee bump then the MALE driver and I'll quote you here "kicked her ar$e" not big nor clever []. i think Neil was having a laugh mate,....chill-out.[]
