WR1 lower front grille ?

Need some advice here folks.

My mate had a wee bump at the weekend and has damaged his front bumper beyond repair. He contacted Subaru and was quoted around £160 (i think) for bumper. Asked how much the grille was and it's around £250..eeek.

So.. are the  lower grilles on the WR1 the same as the STi ?

If so, where would be the best place to get one cheaper than the dealers and what years of car have the same fitment.

If so then I think it only ever got fitted to the WR1 (as standard) - STi's don't have theses grilles at all.

I got one on my WRX when I was getting the car off the dealer and aye, I do mind the bottom one on it's own was around the £200 mark.

Scott Lowe was apparently doing replica's but I checked his website just now & they are not showing anymore. Maybe worth your mate giving scott a call, he's a very helpful chap.

Only other thing I can suggest is either keep an eye on eBay + SNet, or get him to buy some of the mesh you can buy in Halfords & cut it to fit (I also noticed B&Q seem to have a large selection of mesh in stock when I was in there the other day)

Aye oobster, that seems to look the part. I kinda thought it was only for the WR1 but better to check

Thanks for the heads up about Scott Lowe, i'll mention it to Paul tomorrow.[Y] Hopefully this might cheer him up as he looked gutted when he told me about it today.

Mind you, his old man had worse luck at the Jim Clark. Someone in a BMW (i think) hit him head on as he was leaving the scrutineering (sp?) and now the front end on his Scoob looks written off. [:'(]
