gina_winder Posted May 25, 2007 Posted May 25, 2007 <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> Can any one help? On the way home this evening my car felt wrong not sure that I can describe it in words, but it felt very twitchy. Just had four new tyres put on and had all the balancing and tracking done about a week ago, I have also check my nuts (oh er missies!) Also when I go over 3 thousand revs, or sit at about 80mph it sounds wrong that’s the bit I really can’t describe. Was wondering if any one who has a bit of car knowledge would be able to come out with me on a small run just to see what they think.
craigy Posted May 25, 2007 Posted May 25, 2007 well on the info you give er dunno maybe 1 or 2 of the wheels weights have came off, it happenend to me before, the effects are steering wheel woble and a not so smooth drive, get the tyres balenced again??? craigy
gina_winder Posted May 25, 2007 Author Posted May 25, 2007 Thanks for that but the streering does not woble and runs stright as a die if i take my hands of the wheel. It just sort of feels wrong!! i really am sounding like a woman now sorry
craigy Posted May 25, 2007 Posted May 25, 2007 lol no need to be sorry so lets get this straight, your experiancing no wheel wobble and its driving straight lets try keep things simple lol. ok at wot point when driving does it feel weird???

Will call in a few days as it's a busy weekend but off all week (half term) so maybe we could meet up some time then. THANK YOU
granby Posted May 26, 2007 Posted May 26, 2007 Could just be tyre pressure, the garage might of put too much in, it has been known for garages to put in 50 psi instead of 35 []
eureka Posted May 26, 2007 Posted May 26, 2007 We have experienced the same thing,we took it to Subaru and they could'nt work out what was wrong with it,we then took it to a mate of ours and he found that the alloy wheel was slightly warped, could be worth having it checked out?
darryl_martin Posted May 26, 2007 Posted May 26, 2007 50psi instead of 35!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!OMG[] As Ian says if there's too much air in there car will feel lighter, so potentially more twitchy, and before now I was sure I had a bearing going but it was just tyre noise. What sort of noise are you getting? Droning, clicking, rattle...?
yogi- Posted May 26, 2007 Posted May 26, 2007 Have you lost your boyfriend lately, he could be in the boot trying to get out. [] I'll get me coat lol []
gina_winder Posted May 26, 2007 Author Posted May 26, 2007 Thanks for all your help 1) Have not lost my boyfriend I buried him in the garden last night!!! only joking he's sat playing games on the PC. 2) noise that's the bit i can't explane but it's if I had to call it any think a droning noise ( it's a noise that only the onwer of a car would hear if you know what I mean), which then leads me to think you might all be right about it being tyre noise. I will go and get my pressure check 1st see if that helps.

You get it from some of the 4x4 off road tyres when on tarmac, some of the army jeeps for example? May go once the tyres are scrubbed in. Mine were also Toyos.
