wedmonds1 Posted May 22, 2007 Posted May 22, 2007 I cannot believe that they are going ahead with Road Charging despite 2million people having signed the pertition. Is anyone else like me and prepared to do something with the rest of the country and stop the government doing this?? http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_politics/6678915.stm
yogi- Posted May 22, 2007 Posted May 22, 2007 It's only a trial Wayne, 2% of the population is against it, means the Government can't just ride roughshod over us.

It always starts with a trial... It gets me so annoyed when they dont listen to the public. Obviously they cannot always but things such as this are the thin end of the wedge. Looks at Dartford Toll... What a joke that has turned out to be,
Wee Jock Posted May 22, 2007 Posted May 22, 2007 Do you think they would get away with this in France?..... Not a hope in hell and why not I hear you ask! Cos, like them or loathe them the old French get off there backsides and kick up a stink! What do we do, we just give in to what the government want! Im Scottish in case any of you dont know and I cant stand that smarmy git Gordon Brown, he has just screwed up the whole point of being self employed with his crazy tax laws! (He will be bad for the UK) Why should he just walk into being the next Prime Minister, who voted for that twat? I hate the lot of them, unfortunately if we are not more pro active in being anti policy then they will just walk all over us! Im off for a drink now after that little rant!
eureka Posted May 22, 2007 Posted May 22, 2007 all road charging is going to do is push the traffic off m25 and south circ onto smaller roads which will leave the main roads nice and quiet so i will get into london every day nice and quick sorry boys but if you dont use these roads then pay the congestion charge instead and by the way they have done this in france

Dont we pay enough tax on fuel, road tax and all the aother stealth taxes! For every pound you earn you are paying one way or another 37p tax minimum, thats on the lower tax bracket 20%|!
wedmonds1 Posted May 23, 2007 Author Posted May 23, 2007 Well i am fully intending to keep them peeled for a riot to go to [H]
yogi- Posted May 24, 2007 Posted May 24, 2007 Road charging cant work, because the technology isnt there to achieve it, GPS systems can be tampered with, so can the system of bouncing a signal off of the road etc, the road pricing is only a trial. The only way of doing it is is to put the TAX on fuel, which is exactly what they are doing now, it's the only way it can be done
